Rajasthan, the largest state by area and the seventh most populous state in India with around 80 million habitants, is home to some of the country’s most well known tourism destinations, including Jaipur – known also as the Pink City, Udaipur and Jodhpur.
Rajasthan is rich in historical, cultural and religious sites which helped the state to attract around 1.6 million tourists in 2019, pre-Covid.
To learn more about Rajasthan’s tourism industry, post-Covid recovery and targets for 2024 and beyond, Steven Howard of Travel News Asia sat down with Dr. Rashmi Sharma, I.A.S., Director – Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan, India, whilst she was at the World Travel Market in London (WTMLDN) 2023.
Filmed on 7 November, Dr. Sharma shares insights into the work being done to promote tourism to Rajasthan, which markets they are targeting and what new tourism products or ideas they are trying to promote and develop.
We discuss the latest visitor arrival numbers, demographics, air connectivity, airports, hotel pipelines within the state, and much, much more in the HD video.
