We start our exploration of the Shamanic South by looking at Psychedelic Plant Medicines.
What are Psychedelics? How do they work? What are the healing properties? What are the potentials dangers and concerns?

Psychedelic plant medicines include San Pedro and Peyote cactus (mescaline), Magic Mushroom (psilocybin), Ergot Fungus (LSD), and Ayahuasca (DMT). These simple molecules are very similar in structure to Serotonin, our body’s very own (endogenous) neurotransmitter, so similar that they can fit in that key hole (receptor0 and unlock weird and wonderful new doorways of perception and altered states of consciousness. But what is this Serotonin system and how do the psychedelics change our brains?

There are several key features to the psychedelic high or trip or journey, including:

1. Ego Dissolution and Pure Consciousness
2. Expansive Infinite sense of Self
3. Synesthesia and mind-blowing visuals
4. Attunement and Non-verbal Communication
5. Harmony with Nature

In this first introductory video we’ll be exploring the serotonin system and how it governs our dominance behavior by generating all the many emotional schemas and social constructs that we use to navigate our everyday lives and relationships… how the psychedelic plant medicines bring about a temporary state of ego dissolution to help us to experience pure consciousness, to rediscover who we really are…
