For most tourists, Ueno Station and its nearby park are probably what most people will see when they come to this part of Tokyo. However, if you’re like us, and have been coming here for a while, you will know of a few interesting side streets. One is the open air market called Ameyayokocho near the station, and below the tracks. The other is Nakacho, which has a reputation for being a red light district.

  1. An interesting tour of the backroads early before they get busy, Lyndon and Donna. Would love to explore some of them, seeing them later in the day also, see the people and mingle. Not co or tri mingle in the last however. 🤣🤣I've been in other areas in Asia and it is such a fun and eye-opening experience. Never in the day that the vending machines made fresh squeezed orange juice though. Never saw that before!

  2. I love to explore for exactly the same reasons Lyndon
Small side streets are really where you find the soul of a city and sometimes areas where perhaps you shouldn’t go 🤭
    Great tour 🤠👍
    Regards Simon

  3. A very interesting video. I didn't know that there were shops, etc. even on the tiny side streets. I can just imagine how busy those streets would be later on in the day

  4. Very cool idea to visit the back roads and shops earlier in the day before everything opens. It does give you a completely different perspective. I was surprised to see that vending machine that squeezes orange juice? That is pretty cool. 👍
