  1. LOOOL just to clarify guys. We are normally on time in formal situations. We wouldn't arrive 2 hours late to a court hearing or an exam haha. The lateness is more for informal things like meeting your friends to go out, throwing a party, stuff like that.

É o quinto maior País do mundo..
    Paulista
    (São Paulo-Brasil)
É pontual sim, prefere chegar adiantado em compromisso..

  4. Brazil is a very large country divided into 5 regions and almost 30 states, each region has a different culture, and beyond that there are different cultures in most states.
The video shows Brazil from the perspective of Rio de Janeiro, which is the stereotype of Brazil (beach, bikini, caipirinha, party), but there is a serious Brazil that works hard and lives a life normaly like in the US, Europe, etc…but one characteristic is common, receptive and welcoming people

  5. Brazil is very big with 27 states
    the most important
Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul, Minas Gerais

Rio de Janeiro is similar to Miami USA

    São Paulo with New York

    Rio Grande do Sul with
    Nova Orleans

    Minas Gerais with Chicago

  8. I'm Brazilian and Carioca and, definitely, this video is a vision of hell that doesn't reflect Carioca's Carnival. It is very common for Cariocas to flee the city during Carnival, leaving it to tourists… traveling to the mountains or beach areas far from the capital. Cariocas' most beloved festivals take place between the months of June and September… and it's not Carnival… they're the so-called "Juninas or São João" festivals. Recently, street Carnival groups have returned and take cariocas to the streets…but what is in the video is far from the reality of these street groups that whole families can attend…large blocks with adult audiences are held at well-defined points In Rio de Janeiro city

  9. It's sooooo good to see your happy faces having a good time watching the videos! That's what I call Reaction!!! You guys are real and I love watching your videos.
    Hugs from Brazil!

  10. It's good that people are talking about Brazil and interested in it. But to be honest, his video only reinforces stereotypes that most of people here don't like very much. I am quite the opposite of what he is saying, I hate parties or places full of people, don't like hot weather, and I'm always on time 🙂 (but this is true tho, most of the brazilians are NOT on time)
But I understand I'm the exception to the rule and generally speaking brazilians like to party, dance etc

  11. The time thing is not about any innate inability to be punctual. Everyone arrives on time for work, school, etc. I found it has more to do with a concept of social etiquette. It seems impolite and not proper to be the first to arrive at a party. So if you invite people over to your place at say 19h (7pm). You will note that people will mostly be arriving between 7:20 and 7:40. The half hour past seems to be the sweet spot. People an hour late or more will generally come with a story. Events may begin with minor delays specially in monsoon season due to delaying traffic and flooded streets (very common in Rio) or at least it was. I have left Rio and Brazil over 20 years ago. Am thinking of retiring and returning. Anyway, watching this made me remember cultural shocks I went through when I arrived in Rio back in the 70's when I was 13.

  12. Just one detail; The girl in the video said that Brazilians never arrive on time, it's not like that, no one is well regarded in Brazil if they don't have an appointment, those who are late lose their jobs and businesses if they act that way.

Responsible environments and situations in Brazil in no way tolerate people who have a habit of being late. Some Brazilians just don't have time to arrive or go out to informal events, for leisure, in a relaxed atmosphere and for fun.

This thing about making an appointment with a friend in the morning and only arriving in the afternoon happens, but only committed by responsible people who don't know how to respect other people's precious time. These spoil your own reputation.
