A lot being said about the tax situation in Thailand but what about rest. Have people forgot all the talk before the elections about increasing the retirement visa financial requirement with numbers of between 1.2 to 2 Million THB or 100K to 165K THB/month income being mentioned. What about the mandatory health insurance will that be imposed on the O visa same as the O-A which is a minimum of 3 Million THB coverage or an additional 3 Million THB sitting a bank account, some talk about Grandfathering on this but they didn’t do any Grandfathering when they imposed the Health Insurance on the O-A visa.
Another thing to remember is Cambodia tax law taxes tax residents (more than 182 days in a Calendar/Tax year) world income including pensions be they from Foreign or Cambodian source but these are currently not enforced but they could any time they wanted. Also Cambodia only has 7 tax treaties & none are with western Countries.
For those thinking of bouncing between 2 or more ASEAN Countries to avoid becoming a tax resident in any then if they got a driving license from any ASEAN Country they can drive on it in all ASEAN Countries if they are temporary visiting. Thailand still like tourists & the system is geared up to allow up to 180 days per Calendar/Tax year so if you had a Cambodian license & spent 180 days or less in Thailand in a year on tourist status you would in Thailand on temporary visit status & could drive on your Cambodia license.

People like this wouldn’t be welcomed with his narrow minded opinions. Let’s get it right, there might be many other countries to visit but Thailand is rightly so – one country many tourists look to visit. I believe Bangkok has been the most visited city in the world year in, year out. Doesn’t that tell you something. And the food is second to none, this clown has had a vodka too many I believe
Watching on replay. Retiring myself in 12 weeks, then off to Philippines, and afterwards throwing caution to the wind. Are you going to get a retirement visa or travelling between home and overseas on extended visas. Lot of hurdles to overcome to get a retirement visa. Not sure how I'm going to do it myself.
