Starting my Javanese adventure I began in the city of Yogyakarta.
It’s the largest city I visited in Indonesia and my favorite as well.
There’s a young and artistic vibe in the city.
The streets are full of really good graffiti and there always seemed to be something going on.

Yogyakarta is a great place to stay if you plan on visiting the nearby temples.
Visiting Borobudur and Prambanan was the main reason for my stay in Yogya.
Both of these temples are some of the most impressive I’ve seen throughout all Southeast Asia.

Once I left Yogya I continued east to Cemoro Lawang.
I wanted to enjoy the landscape of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park.
Watching the sunrise over Mt. Bromo was without a doubt the best sunrise I’d ever seen.

From Cemoro Lawang I went even further south to Banyuwangi.
That would be my hub to visit the nearby Ijen Crater.
Known for its blue flames and great sunrise.
It was packed with people and a little too hectic going down to the blue flames.
But the sunrise over the crater and its blue sulphur lake was really awesome.

*Most of this footage was spontaneously shot with an iPhone 5, sorry.*
The better looking footage was shot with a Nikon D600.
Any GoPro Footage was shot with a Hero3.
