We stayed in one of the smallest rooms in Swiss Chocolate by Fassbind for one night before our flight – it was indeed very tiny! If we had been large people, the bathroom would not have been useable 😆 but for us it was perfectly good for one night.
Do you have any feedback on the Altstadt Hotel in Old Town Zürich? Thanks for the great video.
A great and comprehensive list
We are staying in Hotel Wellenberg next to Adler in 4 weeks, hope that’s good 😬
I stayed at Hotel Walhalla right next to the main train station. I had a single room so it was very tiny, but I loved it! It felt like going back in time, the elevator was the size of a bedroom closet 😂 they are updating the rooms slowly.
In my experience with the Adler Hotel, if you are staying there during the warm months, June through September especially, you may want to request that you not be placed on the top floor, and/or request one of the small number of air-conditioned rooms. When it’s hot and sunny in Zürich, and that does happen frequently in the summer, the top floor can be oppressively hot. Also be advised that rooms facing the Neiderdorfstrasse can be a little louder due to the heavy foot traffic on the street and the restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel.
I can highly recommend Hotel St. Josef. It's located near the Polybahn and less than 10 minutes away from the main train station.
We stayed at the Chocolate hotel by fassbind and it's ok for one night. I wouldn't recommend it for any longer. The main selling point is the location, but I would choose a different hotel next time I was in Zurich.
As an alternative to some views here, I’ve also stayed at the Chocolate hotel and loved it! It was early November and that meant I got an excellent deal and an upgrade to an attic superior room. The shower was a bit of a squeeze for me as someone just moving into plus sizes, but manageable, and everything else was wonderful! It was very comfortable, and I had great views. There were free chocolates and really fun decorative touches everywhere and all the staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. I had more than enough space, including a very comfortable set up to work. If I come back off season I will definitely be staying here again, and would happily stay for a week or more, but the price in popular times of year does seem to be significantly higher. I appreciate I had an upgrade to a larger room, but from what I saw through open doors (lots of maintenance going on as off season) the smaller rooms are fairly standard for a European city hotel at this price point and the comfort, location, friendly staff and fun touches make this hotel a great choice at a quality above many comparably priced imo.
we stay at Sorchen as a family but I have stayed at Ruby alone, its great.
