Unsure if Charles Schwab is available in England, but if you have a Charles Schwab checking account with debit card you can use that card at any ATM and you will get reimbursed all ATM fees accrued each month, with no limit. I have used mine the past 3 years in Thailand and Cambodia with zero problems. Always have gotten reimbursed every penny, every month.
Hope your move goes well, Ed. Like you, I've always hated the cold in UK. I moved to Pattaya in September (hence why I couldn't tune in live). Only one regret… should've done it years ago.
All you need is a Thai bank account and you just transfer from wise to it , canโt believe how people try to complicate it all. TT are offering 44.20 today, after the charge you get 44.30 into your Thai bank account with Wise with no ATM fee Agency I used charge 3700 baht to open a Bank account ,600b goes into the account which you can withdraw straight away, 2600b for accident insurance (30000b cover),300 set up cost ,200b for the atm card .
UK state (national) pension is ยฃ224.15 per week (US$1,175 per month) from April 2024, and index-linked if sent to the Philippines, USA, Europe or UK dependencies. Both PI & Colombia peg their income for foreign retirees at around $800 per month. The PI's SRRV scheme also requires $10,000 on deposit ($1,500 for veterans).
I'm based in Thailand at the moment so not always easy to catch the livestreams when on in realtime, if you get a chance before you go, try to open Revolut account and order up about 3 or 4 cards (can have up to 6 on the same account), as far as I know, you need to order initial card to your home address but additional cards can be delivered to your overseas address. Wise definitely also worth getting. Also one worth checking but I have no experience with is CityBank, seemingly they don't charge ATM fees in countries where they have branches but I'm open to correction on this one.
Hi Eddie Marty from New Zealand watching on replay lots of interesting comments and entertainment as usual all the best when you go to Thailand cheers๐๐
