I’m the first-ever passenger to hop on an Uber ride in Ibiza! The Uber platform is set to kick off its operations in Ibiza starting from Wednesday, November 29, at 09:00, according to a recent statement released on Thursday.
Users will have various services at their fingertips, including Taxi, Uber Comfort, the premium VTC service, and Uber Van catering to groups of up to six people. Additionally, services like Comfort Reserve and Van Reserve, which allow bookings up to 90 days in advance, will be rolled out in the upcoming weeks. This launch signifies Uber’s commitment to collaborating with the taxi sector. The platform introduced this service for the first time in 2019 in Madrid, followed by expansions to Malaga, Barcelona, and Valencia in 2021, Mallorca, Tenerife, and Zaragoza in 2023, making Ibiza the eighth Spanish town to feature taxis on the Uber app.
Ibiza taxi drivers registering to work with the app can earn incentives of 150 euros after completing their initial 25 rides, and an additional 300 euros for every new driver they bring on board. Furthermore, first-time Uber Taxi drivers can access incentives of up to 300 euros each week.
Uber aims to respond to the substantial rise in mobility demand experienced by Ibiza, particularly during the summer months. According to Uber data, over 350,000 users attempted to use the app while in Ibiza since May this year.
Felipe Fernández Aramburu, the General Director of Spain and Portugal for the company, emphasized their ongoing commitment to Spain and the taxi sector with this launch. “We’re eager to collaborate with taxi drivers, local tourism sectors, and public administrations to enhance mobility in Ibiza,” he stated.
With its introduction in Ibiza, Uber is now operational in 11 cities across Spain.

That didn’t surprise me at all. I think people have a lot of high hopes for the ibiza Uber but my predictions are it’ll be the same rubbish service. 1st day or not, no excuse really, in fact it’s even more reason to make sure it works correctly. Apps have ways to test things before going live on the first day
you should become an uber driver no? peace and love! ✌
With time more people will sign up to drive for them and will be a huge asset to Ibiza goers…Uber is so much better than taxis in my experience and almost always cheaper…I just got back from Mexico a few days ago and having uber down there was a game changer. Cheers mate
My issue with this is during busy times, Uber usually triple or quadruple their prices to ridiculous amounts! And it’s always busy in Ibiza so I assume getting a taxi there will become very expensive.
For a customer, it'll be positive i guess. Booking through the app etc.
I'd imagine local taxi ranks aren't happy about it. Understandably so.
These companies just seem to wanna take over the world. Nothing is ever enough.
Uber all the way ! It will boom in the summer ! Never a effen Taxi to pick you up from sunset Ashram if you don’t have a rental car – we used to pay people in private cars on toxic substance 30€ after hours of waiting for a ride – Uber all the way !
I will be the best Uber driver and I would bring 100 cars with me ! Retire every fall 😂
🙏💜❤UBER=AROUND…AYE SOMEWHERE🤣
When it clicks on more locals will jump on it and they should be more available the only issue might be prices once the summer comes and whether they're going to fleece people or not 🤣 it could definitely make life a lot easier over there though
🙏💜❤Cheers Dwayne.
Would rather just get a taxi the usual way – another way to lock down peoples earnings for tax
Hopefully this makes the regular taxi drivers step their game up. They've been woeful for years now.
Do you need a taxi licence in order to be a driver for Uber in Ibiza?
When did you start saying San An instead of San Antonio???
Ere dwayne, ur apologising about the noise at 28 seconds in
But it's the bit of skin on your thumb that U should have apologised about, it needs to be picked, MY OCD BRO!!!! also welcome to Cornwall…I lived in beefa for 4 yrs 2006-2010 and im from kernow. And it reminded me soooo much of down here, everything's slow af. Mañana,Mañana in cornish its do it drekly boy!! Thx for the content. I'm a big fan❤
Thank you very much Dwayne for your videos and information.
I’d say the Uber drivers didn’t accept your journey because it was a very short journey. A longer one and they’d probably accept it. This is typical of Uber in my local area (Uk)
Thanks Dwayne as always 👍
There’s already an app where you can order a taxi in ibiza. Uber is pointless really if the rates are the same it won’t make a difference
Another 👌video
Uber in the summer months will price themselves out of business.. and obviously out of season they’ll struggle for business anyway.. just cant see it working over there
this was some super user testing!
Love the videos Dwayne. Not been on the island for 7 years but enjoying reminiscing. 37 with kids now but still feel I’ve another few days in Ibiza left in me😂
Here in the UK where I am you can’t get an Uber. You can request one but no driver will take the fare unless they happened to be dropping off someone from a nearby (Uber) city.
Didn’t really work in Croatia most of them ask for cash loll
All you need is the discobus
Great vlog dwaine
Here I Mallorca Uber came this summer and they had a minimum charge of 30/40 euros. And all other fares was 2/3/4 times the price
Cool Cafe I think is closed for two weeks. Kiosk is gone, saw the Dario did a report, but was only in Spanish or Catilan on my phone so not sure what happened there. Also its a shame you didn't comment on the Very Good Very Nice Shop… The best named shop on the island. Its not that good, but to be fair, they are very nice in there.
I just took a cab in Ibiza it was about 32 Euros for a 20mnt ride. kinda pricey but vacation spot cabs usually are.
I had never used Uber in the UK but have recently visited Albufeira in Portugal where the service there is brilliant. Taxi's there are ridiculously cheap and the best way to navigate the nightlife. I was so impressed I now use uber in the UK although it is not cheap.
Ibiza need to do something about taxis and transport in the summer as the current network can't cope.
Uber will be a good thing for ibiza due to the traceability and accountability.
A number of years ago the criminal element were operating taxis in Ibiza and used the oldest trick in the book, picked up a villa full of party goers then had all night to rob the villa as they knew it was empty.
There's a great network of affordable boat trips to get about ibiza although difficult to get from San An to ibiza town and Bossa etc.
It would be great to see some vids of you getting boats from the bay up to Portinax etc, best way to see the coastline.
Water taxis are great!
Cala bassa is renowned for not been able to get a taxi out of. The club will order you one at a charge. Or they’ll provide their own taxi service at a charge of€80-€100 to San An, madness.
Those apps will get you a taxi, but wait time can be 30-40 min
Ubiza! 👍
Great Video
I always stay in the Bay area with Friends who live there (Pete Collins you might know him)
Made me wish I was there! Still not long to wait as coming out for Kings!
Keep up with the great videos
Guys uber in ibiza will not be the same as in the rest of the world, like for example in america where literally anyone can drive. in ibiza only licensed drivers (black van VIP vehicles) and normal taxi drivers will drive, as before. so forget about cheap transportation with uber guy. the only advantage I see is that you will be able to call a taxi based on the location, for example if you are at a party in a villa in the middle of nowhere. it will make sense
Uber is going to be a great addition when it's fully operational… Prices will vary but as you know cash loaded holiday party goers won't mind getting paying, that's why it's now in Ibiza!! 😮
And it’s winter……so fewer cars around anyway….surely
