Life on the road has it’s ups and downs, and this week was one of the rougher weeks. Van life is so romanticised, it’s important to share the lows as well as the highs. Sometimes, everything can pile on top of everything else and you just want to step off the ride for a moment. Except, you can’t. I didn’t really want to upload this video but Ben thought it was important we don’t shy away from the difficult sides of this journey. It’s these moments that make the good moments even better! It’s all about balance, or something like that 🙂

↠ A BIT ABOUT US
We’re Chesca and Ben, and with our two pups River & Scout (🐶 🐶 ) we live and travel full-time in our self converted sprinter van, Sophia. We spent the past 2 years road tripping as much of Europe as we could, from the wild coasts of Portugal to the Syrian border in Turkey, tackling lockdowns and a van re-build along the way. But now, we’re feeling like a new challenge. In the summer of 2022, we’ll be shipping our van from the UK to Canada, on a mission to drive her all the way to Argentina!

  1. Take a break , relax , if it’s any help I’m a long distance lorry driver have been for the last 25years , I know how you feel , been away from home all the time etc , you both are doing amazing , park up and take a couple of days off , catch up on your sleep , and relax . Your videos are amazing, and I know you both work hard , I for one truly appreciate what you do , loving the videos , I think we will all still be here if you take a week or two off . Sending you all the best and a very merry Christmas where ever you both are .

  2. the busy action pact videos are good but the calm just going through the motions of life videos are so relaxing, we love watching you for you and how entertaining and fun you are even if your just in the same camp spot and doing some vanlife admin. take as much time as you need over Christmas and get some well ernt rest. if you stay in one spot for the next 2 months or if you go to outer space it will still be just as engaging, bacuase you 2 are so amazing and inspiring to watch❤

  3. Never boring, love watching you two whatever you are doing, even getting the gas was great with the lovely dogs you met there. You are so kind and loving to each other its wonderful to watch. Just one thing – no onions for dogs!

  4. Thank you for sharing your true feelings. We are in the middle of our van build and be haven't even staryrd van life and we've had issue after issue with the van itself and the build. I feel myself getting frustrates that everyone seems to get it so easy and we're here struggling our way through, working from pay check to pay check trying to finish. I really appreciate you being honest and real and showing that you are only human and no matter your style of life, troubles have to be faced and mental challenges overcome. Lots of love to you both ❤

  5. Hope you’re feeling better now Chesca, you’re videos are just great, even if it’s filling up the gas, getting water, and rain. You are both great and seeing everyday life with its ups and downs is just … well how life is, but I felt for you all the same.

  6. Oh guys. My heart goes out to you. It’s tough sometimes, we’ve only been going 6 months but already recognise some of the more challenging aspects of this life, that you mention. Anyway, this video was far from boring. I don’t think you could make a boring video even if you wanted to. What you’re doing is far too amazing and truly inspirational for that to be the case. Stay strong, and ride that rollercoaster for all its worth. Safe in the knowledge that the community you’ve created on your channel, is with you all the way 💪

  7. I always forget to mention how much I love your amber ring. I’m a jewellery addict, totally obsessed, and try to get as much of a glimpse of it as I possibly can each time I see it. 😍💎💖

  8. You should never apologize for sharing your feelings. Who could blame you for feeling that way sometimes. Hope you are feeling better. Take a day in an idyllic setting, make some video calls to home, rest and relax. I am sure you will feel re-charged. Take care both of you.

  9. ❤don’t overthink your content ❤ and especially don’t let bad comments determine your content either. Those of us that watch regularly are going to watch regardless ❤ 😊❤

  10. A great video and certainly not bored here! We love watching you guys whatever you get up to and feel priviledged to be along for the ride. We really appreciate you being so honest with us Ches and if you have a bad tell tell us all on here or social media – I hope you would know by now that the community the pair of you have built WILL rally round you – and if you are feeling too under pressure then occasionally just take some time off – everyone that feels a connection to you both will all understand. Oh and for a picnic cheese, cheese and lots more cheese…. Love and Hugs Andrew & Shona.

  11. We stayed a night at rocazul as well. It is a really weird place. The lake is pretty polluted, especially on the edge so going in the water we were told was a bad idea.

  12. So find a nice place and stay there for a while and just chill and celebrate the holidays. Or even an AirBnB. You don’t have to be in constant motion.

  13. You don’t have to worry about us we will always be here you Need to STOP take stock I understand you will inevitably feel home sick it only natural to feel this way but just remember you would never have these wonderful memories to look back on if you didn’t have a few rough times don’t be so hard on yourself you’re doing a grand job of living the dream albeit with a few nightmares chucked in to keep you grounded.❤

  14. If you go before noon to a Bodega Aurerra, we are addicted to the sandwiches they sell there made from their store baked bolillo rolls. I don't know what it is but we are crazy for them. For only 20 pesos, it's a great little meal for all of us for 100 pesos for 5.

  15. We always say that mexico to the US is what turkey is to Europe. The migration history, the friendly culture, and especially the food. Turkish food has influenced Europe the same way Mexican food has for the US. Germany's doner kebab is our mission-style burrito from California!

  16. Loved this video because it's real life. Your doing super well, traveling fulltime isn't for the faint of heart! Travel safe. We would have made the same call to leave that neat town. You can't leave the van alone in an unsafe location!!

  17. I just love your longer videos 🙂
They are very enjoyable and peaceful to watch. Your music selection is so well fitting. It is truly a pleasure to watch and follow along the journey with you. Safe travels! ♥️

  18. Wow 🥺🥺 I really, really didn't want to upload this video. It felt vulnerable and icky. Ben gently persuaded me to. Because I was rambling a bit, essentially I felt that everything – life, work and travel – got a bit much and in a van there's nowhere to escape it. A friend said 'sometimes you just want to get off the ride' and that's THE best way to describe it. To say I've been overwhelmed by the love and support in the last 48 hours is an understatement. I thought maybe a few people would get it but I didn't expect almost every single comment to be full of compassion, understanding, depth and kindness.

After 4 years I still try and reply to every comment and by now, many of you feel like genuine, online friends. This just cemented that feeling and as gushy as it sounds I really feel wrapped in love, there's no other way to say it. Reading these comments has been a bit of a reality check to get out my own head and not worry so much. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to write a comment, I will get back to all of you even if it takes me a while 🥲Now let's get back to business shall we?! xx

  19. Not bored! Even admin days are interesting to those of us that don't live in a van. It's interesting to see what a typical – even a typical bad day for you – is like. I'm just sorry that you had a bad day.

  20. At least your honest! I spent many months driving my van around Mexico. I saw lots of good, and also dull places. It put YouTube into perspective for me

  21. Don't say you have no reason for complaining or you are not allowed to feel this way. You are human, you have feelings, this is your life. And if that is what you are going through are the moment, that is how you feel, that is absolutely within your right. Like Ben said, we follow you for YOU. I don't care if you just drive from park-up to park-up and just get water and gas. It's just a day in your life. Sharing difficult things and being vulnerable makes it all so real. No matter how "boring" your days seem, they are entertaining to me and so many other people who are not living your lifestyle. Keep on doing what you're doing and so many of us will be there no matter what!

  22. Excellent video, not boring at all its called real-life. What I find boring is constant cheesy grins and excessive superlatives and everyone knows life is not like that. Congratulations.

  23. I appreciate your realistic content. Traveling comes with setbacks and wonderful surprises. Give yourselves some time to breathe and no worries about your followers. I'm here because you two are real and fun.

  24. Hello,

Firstly, I would like to say a huge thank you to you both, for creating, what I believe, to be is, by far the most, professional, informative, interesting, absorbing, insight into your life as it is at the moment. Presented in a manner that far exceeds any other similar channel.

You never fail to have such a wonderful stock of adjectives to describe, how you are feeling, what you can see, hear, feel, taste and touch. Your command of the English language, excites and entertains me, delights and amuses.

Your devotion to River & Scout, is unconditional, you are definitely a four being team!!!

You allow the viewer to be privy to both your good days and not so good days. Your last video, was showing just how vulnerable you are, a brave move to share with viewers, I commend and admire you. It is only natural that you have such occasions when you feel as you did, when you made the video, you see the answer is,……………………. you are only human, you weren't quarried!!!!!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoy and look forward to watching your videos.

We wish you a safe and happy onward journey, as long as you allow it, we will be witnessing all that you produce in your videos, relishing in the fact that you allow others to share all that happens.

    Thank you

  25. Well done for pushing through, finishing and posting this week's video. Big hug to you 🤗The result is not boring at all, it's real. A warm comment of encouragement to you both!
