I’m wrong -this is the 29th country I’ve visited in the world. Proud to say all self-funded, no work trips, except that one time to NZ.

This is the main square in Krakow. It’s the largest medieval square in Europe – how about that! This was shot mid February so still cold around 3-9 degrees during the day. Heaps of super long euro coats walking around and I want them all. No-one does winter fashion like Eastern Europeans!

The building where I suggest visiting if you want to buy amber jewellery is called the Cloth Hall.

Krakow is a great city to visit in Europe – not too large, not too small, very easy to walk around, enough to see but not overwhelming and cheap.

Great cafes, coffee, historic buildings everywhere and day trips on the side. I highly recommend it as an alternative to the well worn out Western Euro cities.

You must try: flavoured vodka. Look for the brand Soplica in convenience stores, high alcohol content so while it might taste like lollies you’ll be drunk quickly. Floored me unexpectedly. Available in many different fruit and nut flavours. I tried strawberry and hazlenut and recommend both.

Try the Zapiekanka at one of the vendors at Plac Nowy. It’s basic street food, halved baguette with cheese, mushrooms, sauce and whatever toppings you want. I want one now!
