Cameron Highlands is one of Malaysia’s most popular tourist destinations and its biggest hill station area. It is made up of a number of calm townships nestled 1500 meters high in the Titiwangsa mountain range. Travellers come here for hikes, strawberry farms, tea plantations and the cool temperatures.

On my first night, I noticed a pungent, familiar smell in the hostel. I discovered a small market nearby mainly made up of durian sellers. I had yet to try this infamous fruit on this trip. Once I saw how cheap it was, I decided now was the time to try.

Join me as I try the world’s most divisive (and smelly) fruit.

  1. The durian is very cheap there… Maybe it's the common "durian kampung" but it's worth to buy…. But you should try various veriety of durian, like "musang king", "black thorn", "red prawn"… All taste different….
