Wish We Knew THIS Before Traveling To Japan!

Hello everybody welcome back to ordinary Adventures traveling to Japan was one of the best things that we’ve ever done and you may have watched our videos and thought oh I’d like to go to Japan and you may have even looked into it and then gotten very overwhelmed going to

Japan is very overwhelming this is the video that we wish we had before we planned our trip to Japan we’re going to answer all your questions about traveling to Japan and Tokyo Disneyland yeah and there’s a lot of things that we learned so we want to share that with

You the tips some tricks so you could have your own adventure during our travels I kept extensive notes of all the things that surprised us along our journey you did and at the end of this video we’re going to go through the list so that if you go to Japan you won’t be

Surprised like we were so when come with us on this Adventure disclaimer we are not experts in Japan we just took one trip but we learned a lot on that trip and I think we can relay a lot of good information that you’re going to need if you’re thinking about going to Japan but we don’t have all the answers and we might

Get some of this wrong so just warning like you know I’ve been to Japan once but you did take lots of notes I did take lots of notes and did lots of research too we’ve been wanting to go to Japan since before we were even together

And we’ve tried to plan a trip bunch of times and every single time we’ve given up yeah we we would watch videos about it people giving information and we would get so stressed out because it seemed like so much and we’re here to tell you that like if we could do it you

Could do it we regret not doing it sooner and putting it off for so long so before we get into the information I want to lead with some inspiration here you know we started ordinary adventures and the the name’s a joke right like it is yes our first video was us going to

The Avengers World premiere the joke is that like these were the highlights of our life and part of the reason we did this channel was to encourage us to have more highlights of our life to go out and do more things to push ourselves it’s pushed us out out of

Our comfort zone quite a bit has you’ve she went ziplining shark diving we’ve eaten things we would have never eaten drinking things we never drank gone places we would have never gone those kind of experience experiences when you push yourself out of your comfort zone I think are the most rewarding maybe not

In the shark diving because you got yeah I mean it was so fun I still recommend it but if you have motion tness don’t don’t do it a trip to Japan is not for everyone but if you saw our videos and it looked like something you want to do

Don’t put it off it’s really not as complicated as it looks it isn’t okay let’s get into it we asked some people on Instagram to send in questions how did you pick the airline did you monitor plane prices and book during in a cheaper time no yeah I was going to say

How did we do that we are Delta people we’re loyal to Delta so we knew that we wanted to fly with Delta not only because we enjoy their planes but because we want to rake up or rack up status yeah Status miles get miles get points that might not be the smartest

Thing especially if you aren’t traveling all the time like we are M uh what I would recommend is there is a Google travel hack I’m not sure if you’ve ever seen this but go to uh google.com/ trvel and they have an airline search and you can actually put like I’m flying out of

LAX and I want to go to Tokyo Japan and don’t put dates you don’t have to put dates you hit enter and it’ll show you the prices of everything and you can basically find the cheapest price that way and sometimes you can find a trip to Japan for $400 we also

Knew like the time of year we wanted to go so well that’s another question that people have had is you know what’s the best time to go to Japan well we heard that in the summer it could get very hot and humid even more so than like Orlando

At Walt Disney World yeah they’re they have parades in the theme parks there where like the characters just squirt like they they like fire hoses and they squirt that would be kind of fun yeah one of the best times that I’ve heard to go is actually during the spring because

It’s cherry blossom season but that’s also like like a very touristy time and a lot of people go there so the crowds are more intense we didn’t want to go in Winter cuz we didn’t want to be too cold so we thought fall or Autumn would be

Like the perfect and let me tell you the weather was perfect it was like 70° could wear shorts and a t-shirt like I think we picked a good time to go we’ll get into this later but we also had to pick our plane flights based on when we

Could get the Disney hotel booking we flew into H&D which is hanana just because it’s closer to like the city center it’s closer to Disneyland Narita is the other airport which is still you know honestly Narita has more Long Haul flights so it’s not bad to book into

Narita they’re both fine did you need to get a visa to go to Japan the answer is no you don’t I think you probably do if like you’re going over a certain amount of time which is like a couple months or something but not for like a tourist

Trip we’re not going to lie to you it was I had lots of anxiety leading up to the trip so much that I like broke out on my face I was like up all night like the night before didn’t get any sleep and when we landed I was very grateful and

Excited to be there but I still was kind of it’s just a lot especially being thrown into Shinjuku all the lights all the noises all the people constant people not knowing what to do the first like hour or so I was a little bit overwhelmed but then like

I got over it and I was like this is very easy yeah everything at first was kind of overwhelming like us going to the train station mhm we did so good I think we didn’t panic and we like figured it out like relatively quickly listen if we didn’t have a phone we

Would have been screwed that being said you do need a smartphone I yeah so I’d go I wouldn’t go to Japan without a smartphone you know what to me Japan is kind of like um a board game you open up a board game and there’s all these rules and it seems overwhelming and

Complicated you need this and then you need and you spend 20 minut you spend 20 minutes to learn it and then you play a few turns you’re like oh I get I understand and then like the rest of the trip is like easy yeah very easy and another thing is everybody’s very

Willing to help you and everyone is so polite and if they could see that you’re struggling they even if there’s a language barrier they will smile and help you the best that they can which I loved in preparation for a trip to Japan we watched lots of videos read lots of

Stuff and you end up watching these videos and they’re like oh when you get off the plane you got to get a sim car and you got to get this car and you gotta go to a money exchange you got to do it seems super complicated and it’s

Not like half those things you don’t even need to do and uh the only thing that’s kind of complicated is booking a stay at Tokyo Disneyland but we’ll get to that in a bit I feel like our stay at Tokyo Disney was probably the most complicated part of our entire trip

Right which is like funny so how do you plan a trip like this is what people want to know big props to Peter he literally researched and planned everything himself and I just showed up and reaped the benefits so I’ll give you some resources that I used I love Lonely

Planet has a series of books I particularly like their pocket series which kind of shows you the best of the best stuff or you can get the big thick one that has everything and teaches you a lot Lonely Planet books are great if you like flipping through a book and

Taking notes and stuff like that we would also go to YouTube we’d search for travel Vlogs YouTube which is probably how people found us they’re looking for Tokyo stuff we watched a lot of YouTube videos some were better than others yes and we take notes of like you know

Places that look cool and places that we noted that we didn’t want to go to I would also go to Tik Tok Tik tok’s a great resource if you’re like things to do in Los Angeles things to do in Tokyo also Yelp but less so in Japan I usually

Use Yelp you’re a big big Yelp user yeah but internationally Yelp isn’t used as much so I’ll usually turn to Google ratings or to a travel advisor usually works better internationally and look at the ratings what people what’s highly rated what isn’t and I remember like one of

The nights we were in Japan like we always have trouble deciding where to eat and we just stood looking at like Yelp and like restaurant reviews for like 30 minutes and we found a good place because of it hey we were only in Tokyo like in the city for 4 days and

Wanted to eat good I didn’t want to waste one of the meals but also I want to say if you’re going to Tokyo Disneyland there is no better resource than Tokyo Disneyland Explorer he has a YouTube channel but also most importantly has a guide book that you

Can buy online and that helped us in our trip tremendously so he was a incredible resource yeah he’s expert yeah we also asked on Instagram and on Twitter X whatever you want to call it you know Twitter we’re calling it Twitter not x what do we not want to miss everybody’s

Like team lab team lab team lab oh yeah yeah that was such a cool unexpected thing I literally knew nothing about it and that was probably like my favorite day that we had there I use the Apple notes and I take notes on everything and what I recommend you do I recommend you

Take notes some way in some app but then also add all the places that you are interested in going to onto a Google map you can oh yeah that’s a good Pro tip because this is what happens then after like you’ve added everything you you

Zoom out on the Google Map and you can see clusters of like oh there’s a bunch of stuff over here there’s a bunch and then you like okay we’ll do one day in Harajuku because there’s a ton of stuff over in Harajuku so that’s how kind of we plan these travel you’re so

Smart I just do the work such a good job let’s give it up again for Peter yeah thank you well I think the Shinjuku train station is what the biggest in the world or the biggest in Japan or something it’s kind of like the Hub of Tokyo I want to say

There 10 times as many passengers go through that train station every day than the busiest airport in the world it is massive there was a few times like where we’d get off the train coming back to our hotel and we like went out the wrong exit and it takes you to like a

Completely different part of the city but yeah so that’s why we stayed there right we also wanted to to stay in the Godzilla hotel we we saw that and we thought it was pretty cool but being in Shinjuku and being near that train station means that everything is going

To be easier to get to because basically almost every single train line goes through that station and you can it’s like a web you’re in the middle of the web do you know what I mean we were like a only a few blocks away from it so it’s

Like a perfect location that said Shinjuku is also I didn’t know this before booking really I knew you did you could have asked me but it’s kind of like a red light District of sorts it’s like a party that being said it I think if you have kids you could still walk

Around there like I didn’t feel like it was like xrated or anything not at all yeah but there was definitely like uh women dressed as Maids trying to lur men up to a maid cafe or something like that which I’m not even quite sure what that

Even is we didn’t do it yeah on our second night we had dinner with Chris the TDR Explorer and he was like oh Shinjuku is the red light district and I was like oh after that I noticed the things but our first night there and our first morning totally didn’t notice it

So so funny you should have asked me I knew so I’m just saying even though it is it’s it it honestly like a kid would not even notice yeah I still felt like it was a wonderful place to stay yeah I was really worried about that I think we

Handled it pretty well every night though around like 800 or 9:00 p.m. I did get very tired yeah so I’d say at first day kicked our butt well oh obviously flying there the first day you need to force yourself to stay up as long as possible and I think we made it

Until like 7 or 8:00 p.m. yeah which is pretty good like if you go to bed as soon as you land your your schedule is going to be messed up so you need to force yourself to get on the local time and go to bed at a normal time and I

Think it really helped us for the rest of the trip I was a little bit tired but like I just pushed through it and then we just went to bed around like 9 or 10 every night it was fine yeah the the one thing I would warn you is when you fly

To Japan you’re flying into the future yeah you’re time traveling so you kind of lose a day and I would also say that don’t plan anything like very big on the first day like I’m so glad we did not plan our Disney part of the trip at the beginning

Of our trip because I would have been so tired yeah I feel like that was I proposed that idea I was like what if we went to Tokyo first for a few days to get like yeah used to like vibe in Japan to get over the jet lag and then we are

Like refreshed when we go to Disney and I feel like that was a good way to do it if you’re going there to go to Disney yeah okay so the most expensive part of the trip was hotels and not just because hotels are expensive in Japan they

Aren’t we just stayed at the some expensive hotels um we were away for two weeks and we paid about $5,000 in hotels that includes Hotel gracery the Godzilla Hotel was like $210 a night Mir cost was almost $500 a night and Toy Story was like $300 a night that said we could

Have found a hotel for like $150 a night and that could have been half the price like we said before we have been dreaming and wanting to go to Japan for so long that we kind of like splurged a little bit and we wanted to treat oursel

And we wanted to like do it big and do it right the first time you know what I mean yeah but like you you’re fine anywhere that you stay that being said I’m glad that we did get to stay at those nice Disney hotels because it was

Awesome the food in Japan is super cheap souvenirs in Japan are super cheap and I think we got away for around 6,500 for our entire trip we did book our plane flight with points so we didn’t pay for that but you know we could have paid

Five you know $400 each for that that could have been then we would to be at like 7,300 for the whole trip yeah when we went the the US dollar was very strong and it made everything everything was just super cheap it was kind of like

Amazing we’d go out to dinner get drinks get appetizers get Entre and it would be like $30 for the two of us that’s unheard of in America yeah but back to hotels for a second you can stay at the Hilton or the Sheridan that’s like next

To the Toy Story hotel that we stayed at at Tokyo Disneyland and you can find some rooms for like $150 a night at certain times of the year tickets to the park super cheap like $67 a day depending on the day what are tickets at

Disneyland 150 L it kind of blew my mind that realistically you could book a trip to Tokyo Disney and it’s cheaper than going to Walt Disney World or Disneyland yeah here’s the math on the screen if you want to see it real quick is everything super cheap at Tokyo

Disneyland yes pretty much yeah yeah so here’s what you need to know is in Japan the average salary for someone is $40,000 equivalent Us in the US it’s about $60,000 so people make less there and thus things are priced Less on top of that like ker said the Yen when we

Traveled was 35% below the American dollar so that’s basically getting onethird off everything you buy one of the things that absolutely blew my mind is here when we go to Disneyland or Disney world you want a bottle of water you’re a little dehydrated it costs like $6 in Tokyo Disney they have vending

Machines everywhere so you don’t even have to like wait in line anywhere you just go to the vending machine and it’s only 200 yen which is like $150 like that like blew my mind that is unheard of here at Disneyland how much do ears cost there compared to here yeah Mickey

Ears I think in America around like they they get more and more expensive every year I think they’re like 30 or $35 wow they’re they’re less than 20 I think they’re they were like $15 I think like 15 $13 some it it was insane I should

Have bought more I like regret that I didn’t buy more and food’s cheaper there here’s a comparison of the food in Tokyo compared to Walt Disney World the number one question we got asked out of everything is was not being able to speak or understand Japanese a big issue

I was worried about that here’s the good news you could learn a few basic Japanese words please thank you yes no arato yeah we learned a bunch of those and we use them in our you know interactions with cast members or people we ran into but also always smile

Smile and that goes a long way trust me download a translation app on your phone we ended up using Google translate yes and it was amazing not only because you could talk into it and it’ll change it into Japanese you could just show the person but you could also take photos of

Things and it’ll Loosely translate like sometimes it wasn’t completely accurate but you got the gist of what it was and you could also go up to someone and if there was a communication barrier you could actually put it up to them they could speak and then you would see the

Translation yeah and everyone was so willing to help and so friendly and like I said smile and that that’ll take you a long way in Tokyo I feel like there was less people speaking English than I thought there would be that said there’s signs everywhere you can use your phone

It’s it’s not most of the there’s a lot of English signs there which I wasn’t expecting for some reason but I thought when we got to Tokyo Disneyland that there would be a lot more cast members that could understand English and that was not the case so I don’t mean to

Worry you or to you know that being said it was very easy to figure things out and everyone was so nice but yeah that that was kind of interesting I wasn’t expecting that either and a lot of like the packaging and stuff on the merch there is all in Japanese and it’s weird

Some of the shows and some of the rides are in English some of them are in all Japanese and I think when we showed our videos we got a bunch of comments of like oh is there a translator how are you going to understand you understand it’s not difficult to understand I think

When we presented it out of context in like Quick Clips it seems confusing and it seems like you wouldn’t understand like these stage shows these gues are designed to be visually story visual storytelling so you you understand I would say I understood 95% of it even though I didn’t and you’re just vibing

Anyway even if you don’t know what they’re saying you’re vibing like when we went to go see the Duffy show that entire thing was in Japanese but I understood that they needed friendship to come together and listen I understood the message at the end of it no I’m not

Sure if she did I did we’d like to thank Tokyo tree and sakuro for sponsoring this portion of today’s video one of our favorite things when we went to Japan was trying all the unique Japanese snacks and treats these subscription boxes allow you to taste and experience

Japan from the comfort of your home oh my God there’s so much in here each one of these boxes has 15 to 20 full size snacks Wow have a whole bag of Kit Kats each box has its own theme and this one is New Year snacking party I love that

There’s sweet and savory treats so Tokyo treat is packed with seasonal limited edition exclusive ja snacks oh my gosh what is this looks like Ramen yes I got to try these Kit Kats so each one of these boxes comes with a 20page booklet that tells you all the things you need

To know about all the snacks happy New Year it’s pretty good mhm the one thing I regret from our trip is we didn’t try more snacks now we could try them all at home and the theme of this box is New Year in Hiroshima so this box has more

Artisan snacks and it supports local Japanese snack makers and it has a more traditional authentic type of snack set in it ooh little fish treat has a little fish treat I feel like this is like Christmas morning here is that the bean paste in the middle I think so I enjoy

It so this is a teaki and it does have the sweet Bean taste filling I knew it oh it has that thing from Epcot ooh but it’s banana flavored M each one comes with like a household item this one comes with a fur Shiki traditional Japanese way of like wrapping you can

Like wrap gifts or something that’s so pretty if you want to get your box or get a box for your loved one click on the link in the description below and use code ordinary and you can get $5 off your order and now back to the adventure

How many days would you recommend to explore Tokyo Japan I feel like we didn’t have enough time in Tokyo we had four days and I wish we had like a week I know I was already having fomo when we got there just seeing everything like in the

Distance and being like like oh I’m not going to get to go there there’s so much so much to see and do there I would say like maybe a week at least if you’re going to Tokyo I would recommend probably a week yeah and then you could

Take the train and go to if you’re going to S day trip somewhere and stuff like that I would recommend more time because and and by me saying Tokyo I’m not saying like Tokyo Disneyland I’m saying just the city itself I would recommend at minimum one day at each of

The parks so two days two days minimum 3 days recommended and if you’re Disney parks’s fanatic and you’re this is like your one trip there I’d say four at least have two days at Tokyo Disney c one day at Disneyland yes or maybe two days at each don’t ask

Me I think we made it look a little bit more easy than it was but it was not as overwhelming as you think I think in our video we showed the map the train station map in Shinjuku station is insane there’s 51 platforms there’s 16

Train lines it is like you you look at the thing and you’re like how am I going to figure out and we were scared like I I think we weren’t filming kind of the first time as much because we were scared and we were trying to figure it

Out whatever but once we figure it out it wasn’t that hard just go ask someone ask someone who works there that’s what we did our very first time in the train station we knew like which train line we needed to go to we just could not figure

It out and they were just like over there and then it was very easy Google Maps I I know this sounds stupid it sounds like oh they’re giving a tip to use Google Maps that’s like the use Google Maps your best friend trust me yeah use the directions on Google Maps

Because when you like say you’re typing in here and you go to your in hotel gracery and you’re you want to go to happy pancake and Ginza and you pick the best fruit which early on I picked roots that had the least amount of transfers because sometimes you’ll have a route

That like has you transfer twice and I didn’t want to deal with that even though that would be F faster yeah yeah I just wanted the more direct and that’s what I would probably recommend doing because it’s easier um the app even tells you how busy the stations are it’s

Incredible how busy your trains are you can actually say when you’re on the train like it’s busy or not or whatever it tells you the track number which is very important so like if you’re going to uh Shinjuku station to go to Ginza it tells you you know track 17 or whatever

You just got to find track 17 there’s all these like confusing Signs by I learned you just need to know the track number and then once you get there know the right train imine going to Japan like in the 80s on smart can you imagine I can’t imagine I think once you you’d

Get the hang of it pretty quick but imagine going in that train station and not having Google Map I don’t know if I’d get the hang of it but the the other important thing I’d tell you is it’s very important to know which exit you were coming out of the train station

Shinjuku station for example has 200 different exits it’s insane you could go out once one exit and another exit could be almost a mile away it’s not like New York City or I guess may maybe I’m not even sure if New York City is a good

Example Boston like I I used to live in Boston when you get out of a train station you’re either on like one side of the street or the other side of the street there it could be like a mile away yeah so you need to go read what

Exit it tells you to go to because that’s very important yes Pro tip but if you follow the directions you’ll be fine when you watch videos of like you’re planning to go to the Japan they tell you you know after you get off the plane

You need to go find a place to buy a Suka card and this this card that you you load money on Toto and you can use it at train stations you can use the vending machines there’s chips shortage they’re hard to come by it’s not a

Problem you don’t even have to look for a place you just go on if you have an Apple device I’m not sure if it’s on Android but on Apple wallet you can go to Apple wallets and there’s like a a train section and you can add a Suka

Card and you just add the money from your phone and literally yeah through Apple pay and that was a lifesaver cuz you could pay for so much stuff with that card we used it for all the trains you literally just put your phone up to the reader lets you in you don’t even

Have to open the app we figured that out later we were idiots we’d be we’d get to like the Turn Style and we like let me get to my wallet no you just put your phone near the thing and Boop lets you in I just learned recently that I could

Have just used my Apple watch because my Apple watch for next time we’ll be pros and then every time we went to like 7-Eleven or I’d say 99% of the vending machines you could use that as well very very easy and then if you see your

Running low on funds Bo Boop just add more you’re good to go yeah booop some people have asked Can you don’t even have to touch it you don’t even to touch it well that’s what I did you can but it’s very expensive they have Uber it costs like like 20

Times as much as a train ticket and you might get to your destination even in less time than the train would take you there yeah like there’s one point I think we were in we needed to get to team lab planets and we left the hotel late and I was

Like I’m not sure if we’re going to have enough time to get there I looked up the Uber and the Uber was going to get us there later than the train and it was going to cost like $6 compared to like $5 between us to get there so so we used

Cluke I believe it’s called and by a airport transportation I mean we booked a a car service to pick us up yeah from the airport to our hotel you don’t need to do that you could we were just worried we were like oh it’s going to be

Too much to learn the trains I think next time we go we’ll just use the train I just didn’t want to be on the train like a busy train with like all our huge luggage yeah because the trains get packed there like you’re packed in like sardines but apparently they have at the

Airport you can just leave your luggage there’s these Services they’ll basically deliver it to you your hotel yeah so maybe next time we’ll try to do that because we also used cluk book or tickets for shabuya Sky that’s the observation deck you can book Disney tickets on there it’s actually probably

The easiest way to buy tickets at Disney even more than buying it through Disney Americans who don’t travel internationally CL sounds like a scam sounds like a scam what yeah but what I wonder what that means I don’t know yeah this is one of those things that like

Made me nervous I’m like oh we’re going to have to find a place to get a SIM card the new iPhones don’t have SIM cards they’re eim are we’re going to have to get like a wireless hotspot like don’t worry about it like lit or actually I’m not going to say

Don’t worry about it for us for us I have AT&T Verizon uh it’s different for every phone plan I’m sure but with AT&T they have like this $10 a day international pass if you don’t use your phone that day you don’t get charged but if you

Take out your phone and you’re using it you get charged $10 which I think is a pretty good deal the only time I ever had issue is sometimes in Disneyland because it was so crowded and everyone was on their phone that like I lose when

It was a parade yeah but like when we were walking around Japan it was very easy my phone worked perfectly there was never a time where I was like oh no my phone’s not working I don’t know where I am I need to look at the the map or

Whatever like so it worked very well yeah $10 today you can turn it on on your phone we already had it on because we go on cruises a lot and like when we go to you know we’re in some other country on a cruise port it just turns

On for that day it charges us $10 and we get to use our Internet uh there’s Wi-Fi almost everywhere in Japan so you could use that if I wouldn’t rely on that so so I don’t know if all phone services have that but I would look into your

Phone service and see if they have a travel plan for that for that country so first of all we just use the 18 at M if you any 7-Eleven you could use the ATM there but one thing that I learned is you need to make sure that your credit

Card or your bank card will work like for example I couldn’t use my debit card and then I tried to use a credit card and it wouldn’t let me I needed to get an international pin so for example I have an American Express credit card I

Didn’t know before the trip that I had to contact American Express and get a PIN number to type into the the ATM to get my money out Peter already knew any big company in Japan is going to take credit so if you have a credit card

You’re fine so that’s just for the ATM if you go to Starbucks or you go to the Disney Store or whatever you could just use your credit card very easily it’s just specifically for ATMs you need that pay number um if you go to restaurants

Usually it’s not a chain you can’t use a card some are cash only yeah that’s what I’m saying the littlest like little restaurants yeah but a lot of them did take credit cards as well so you’re GNA want to have Yen for those like home businesses that you’re gonna shop at but

Exchange and cast is not hard literally go to an ATM there’s one at every 7-Eleven and there you’ll get the lower lowest rate of exchange than um doing it at a uh money exchange or whatever supposedly supposedly some people asked are there ingredients clearly labeled on menus for

Allergies I don’t think so especially at Disney Disney you don’t know what you’re eating if you go to the website it’ll have some list of ingredients but even then it’s like yeah there’s mystery corn on a pizza that you didn’t know that was going to be there you know what I mean

Which apparently I found out that Japanese people they love corn on Pizza what does help at restaurants not just in Disney but all over Japan is usually there’s photo menus and usually there’s display food like the plastic food that shows you like what it so you get to

Visually see what it is and a lot of the places in Tokyo the restaurants had like little iPads like little things that you screens so you could just tap it in English scroll along pick a photo that looks good and then they just bring it to your table you don’t even have to

Talk to anyone yeah that is probably the hardest thing that we did on this trip okay so this is a little bit complicated hotel reservations at Disney Tokyo can be made at 11: a.m. Japan time on the day four months before your stay that is what it is now when it was

When we booked it it was 3 months before our stay it could change so I would go to the website and see what it is because the hotels there also they book out quick so if you’re not like on it and you’re casually like oh let me see

If I could get something a few months down the road it’s all booked out you can’t find more than like one night somewhere if you’re looking to stay like consecutive days forget about it yeah so uh that was the equivalent of like 600 p.m. California time and I would go on

My phone to the Disney website and once you get there to to the Tokyo Disney website it puts you in a virtual Quee so it’s kind of like that like man walking across the screen you know when you’re trying to buyb Bash tickets or whatever

And then when it’s your time you need to go you need to know exactly which one you want to St how many days what room what you need to go quick or it will sell out so I I suggest if you’re doing this before the day that you need to book

Yours try it a couple times don’t you know pay for it get to the you know up to that point but try it so that you know the system you know exactly what type of room you want go to the website browse the room say oh that one looks

Nice that’s the one I think I’m going to try to go for that’s very help because there’s like a lot of different room types too it’s like do you want a fantasy room do you want a room that faces the garden do you want a room that

Faces the canal do you want a room with two beds one bed three beds yeah it’s a lot so Tokyo Disney was such a big part of our trip that we didn’t book our planes or other hotels or anything until we had this hotel booked because we were

Basically booking our trip around when we could get the hotel we want in mirac Costa you know what I mean because like I tried one night didn’t get it I tried another night like that said you know you could just stay at The Hil I was

Going to say that being said you don’t need to stay on Disney property but if you want to stay at one of the Disney hotels it is a little bit of a pain in the butt but it makes it so much more rewarding like I remember the night that

You got marassa that was like our Dream Hotel like our Dream scenario yeah and we got it and I was so happy and so proud of you that we we actually got it cuz it’s hard man I loved it but if the difference of staying at

$150 a night to $500 a night is worth it for you to save that to like do other stuff I don’t think it’s is it worth that price difference so let’s talk about the benefits of staying at a Disney hotel you get the themed experience you get the themed

Experience uh the hotel that we stayed at was literally connected to the park so it made it very easy in the middle of the day if you needed to go back your to your room for whatever reason you’re there in a second you don’t got to get

On the Montreal you don’t got to go on a train okay so they have this thing called happy entry which gets you into the park 15 minutes before everyone else and by the way that doesn’t mean you get to go on the ride 15 minutes early it

Means you get into the park 15 minutes early and then you could go line up to the ride to be first in line or whatever you want to do the parade which I didn’t realize that I thought oh we have 15 minutes let’s go on a ride but you walk

Up to the the thing and you still got to wait but that said that is the difference of getting on like two big rides you could get on like say Beauty and the Beast and then run to another ride after because there’s not going to

Be as big of a line by that point yeah then if you had waited to get in and by the way the lines Tokyo Disneyland to get in in if you don’t have the happy entry they’re long they’re long and if people wait out there hours in advance

You might not get in there for an hour it’s like if you want photos in the Park oh like without like lots of people that first like hour is key we should say that if you book the Fantasy Springs hotel that’s opening next year the Disneyland Hotel the Ambassador Hotel or

The Mira Costa Hotel you get happy entry for both parks but if you book twice story or the celebration Hotel they only have happy entry for Disneyland so you don’t get it for Disney C another benefit is that Park guests can book your Park ticket at the hotel during

Your stay and that means even if they’re sold out even if there’s High attendance and they’ve like shut down the resort yeah so that is another benefit to staying on property you’re never worried if you’re not going to be able to get into the park so what do you think do

You think it’s worth it it’s hard because it’s like it was very expensive that’s probably the most we’ve ever spent on a hotel room normally like when we go to Disney World and stuff we we book the cheapest room possible because we know we’re never going to be in the

Room it doesn’t matter it’s just a bed in a shower yeah by the way we were never in the room it was a bed in a shower but it was nice at the end of the night to be able to like just go into

Her hotel up to her so if you want to save yourself money you know a Disney hotel could run you $300 to $600 it’s expensive a hotel next to the Montreal could run you $1 150 to $200 so you save what is that like half M almost onethird

Maybe that means you could eat more and buy more souvenirs yeah that’s the way I look at it some people ask can you go into the Toy Story hotel to eat at loto Garden or shop at the gift shop without a reservation no and I don’t know if

That’s like a temporary thing or what the deal is with that because at mirac Costa I think you’d be able to go in right I think it’s probably because they have those photo ops all over the place and I think they they want that to be a

Benefit of people staying there and not so every time we went went back to our room they have somebody standing guard and you have to show them you have to prove that you’re staying there and then they let you through so we purchase them at our hotel but you could also purchase

Them on cluke or on the Disney website I’ve heard the Disney website could be finicky about certain credit cards I would just use cluke to be honest but well it’s a little bit different than it is in the States because they don’t offer Genie plus when you get into the

Park you scan your ticket into the Tokyo Disneyland app and you have to enter the park uh before you can get a pass they have two different kinds they have Premier access which is paid and then they have priority passes which are included yeah so it was great like for

The more popular rides like Beauty and the Beast it was the the pay for pass which when you see the line that’s like three hours long I think it’s like around 10 15 bucks to pay for it yeah when you’re paying $60 to get into the

Park it feels like a barking like oh I get to skip a three hour long line for 15 bucks I’m saving money by doing this I still haven’t paid it makes sense it wouldn’t make sense not to do this yeah I still haven’t paid the amount of money

That I would have to pay to get into Disney World and I’m getting and then you could go buy six bottles of water for the same price as one in America good to go so the premier access pass includes the most popular rides the ones

That are on the screen right now so when you get yourself a premier access pass you can’t get another one for 60 minutes after you get it or if the time comes for you to use that pass you can get another one and then there’s also one

That you don’t have to pay for it was called a priority pass I think it was 2 hours you get a time for a ride that you want to go on and then once your time is called like you could get another one or two hours after the does that make sense

Yes it’s kind of like how fastpasses used to work before they took them away from us here in America and that doesn’t include like the big rides but it does include some cool rides like yeah who’s honey hunt honey hunt Nightmare Before Christmas or sorry Haunted Mansion

Monsters in yeah which are all amazing rides Star Tours we’re not sure if this is going to become a paid service later on like Genie plus but right now it’s including in the price of your ticket and it’s called the 40th aniversary priority pass but the 40th anniversary

Is going to run out so will they continue doing this we don’t know we don’t know you can pay for Premier seating for the parades which we did and it’s actually kind of cool because you pay you know $10 $15 and then you get an actual spot with a marker on the ground

So you’re not you know just showing up not knowing where to go you have a specific place in ass signed seat and everybody sits there and everyone is just sits on their little dot watches the show I found that to be absolutely incredible like that would never work

Here in the states the states they do have some stuff like that but it’s like you don’t have a guaranteed spot you you have a guaranteed section you have to go go into that section and kind of fight for like a good spot but even if you

Don’t get like one of those passes the the spaces to watch the parades most of those sections people are all sitting down yeah they’re all respectful they don’t raise their cameras KS oners like higher than your head if you’re wearing mini ears they they come over and they

Say please please take them off yeah so you’re not blocking anyone’s View and it’s just so nice I like missed that that’s one of the things that I miss the most about Tokyo Disney there but that being said the stage shows I do not like the system they have for stage shows oh

I hate it they have a lottery system which once again you need the app you need to go on your phone and I didn’t realize this until like halfway through our trip there um but for a lot of the stage shows it is a lottery system and I

Did not successfully get picked until our final day there yeah I didn’t think it was going to happen I was so excited that being said first thing in the morning a lot of the big stage shows it’s standby so if you really want to see it you just go there first thing in

The morning you stand in line and you have a pretty good chance of getting in I would say yeah every day we applied for every show that we hadn’t seen didn’t get it and didn’t get it so I don’t know either we’re unlucky or the system’s just bad yeah I think there

Might also be other ways of getting in like I saw Mammoth Club mention that they were able to get like in big band beat they got into the the balcony was a standby but the rest of it was was lottery so so it’s the same kind of

Annoyance that the hotel thing is so you can book at 10:00 a.m. Japan time which is 5:00 p.m. California time one month before the day you want to dine oh my gosh um so you got to go on there the website’s crashing you got to wait until

It’s your turn see what’s available book it right away be very quick um so if you want to see that Duffy stage show you better be in there a month before Oh you will not get it if you’re not there in the first couple minute like first minute yeah you can get standby

Reservations for dining maybe not the show dining so some of the rides were like a little bit of a tight squeeze we were I only I only know one ride that was a tight squeeze and that was the monsters in cried and people that are not um bigger thigh complaining

That if you’re tall too it’s just like I wasn’t it was my legs that hurt that because they were like squished up against the thing the restaurant and stuff in Tokyo are very small like only a few seats in them and they’re very narrow but we didn’t I feel like we

Managed I was honestly expecting there to be rides at Tokyo Disneyland that we couldn’t fit on because uh Japanese people are smaller they they literally are smaller um than you know the typical American size I thought that we would get turned away more we didn’t try to go

On the roll roller coaster at Disney C and we suspect that we might not not fit on there the reason why we didn’t do that is because I get motion sickness and I just didn’t want to go on a roller coaster yeah it ruins her day if she

Gets motion sick but everything else we fit on completely fine we didn’t I don’t feel like we ever got judged for being bigger this was a bummer it’s a bummer yeah um so sizes in general there are just run smaller but the largest size

That I saw of any of the merch there was a large which I think would be like an American medium no I saw some stuff had LL which I think oh which is maybe like extra large but it’s still not like extra large America I was sad that I

Couldn’t get any like t-shirts or I know cuz I had such cool merch such cool shirt I wanted like every single t-shirt maybe it’s a good thing cuz I would have spent like way too much money yeah but dang they had some good merch there oh

My God don’t make me choose my favorite thing being there was just walking around and The Vibes every single alley every single Street just being Amazed by everything you felt like you were like a like you really felt like you were in the future yeah like you we literally

Work CU we were a day ahead yeah and then everything was so just futuristic like the iPads in the restaurants there’s like robots everywhere and just the technology there is just like on another level and like I don’t know if like America will ever catch up with it

You know what I mean I really enjoyed when we went to the team lab art exhibit experience team lab planets yeah that was so cool so different but I really just liked exploring like you just walking around I of course loved all the like little CL machine games and that

Sort of stuff like all there’s just cute stuff everywhere that like I am drawn to it’s a problem I wanted to buy like everything there it was great Yoko was like this series of Alleyways that was really cool with all these like little restaurants and bars that was it just

Felt like I know it’s become kind of a touristy thing now but it it really felt like you’re like I’m here eating in Japan you know what I’m excited about when we go back to Japan I’m excited to go back to Tokyo but I’m excited to kind

Of venture out and go to the smaller cities and go to Kyoto and go to Asaka and stuff and just see like yeah the real Japan you know what I mean so for me personally my favorite ride was probably Beauty and the Beast and Disneyland but so many of the rides were

Awesome I also really liked Pooh’s Honey hunt I love the Monsters Inc ride I loved Sinbad we went on that ride probably like 15 times we didn’t obviously only filmed it once or twice I think but like we’d be like oh Sinbad five minute wait want to go on it and we

We went on that ride so many times yeah that ride was so cute but yes of course Journey to the Center of the Earth that ride was amazing aquatopia oh my God I know there’s so many we rode that in another other time and I wish we had

Filmed that one because that one we went like under a waterfall waterfall cave I know I I regret that we didn’t film it uh best drink from vending machines water just kidding I mainly just drink water but also coffee you could get hot coffee cold coffee and it was all

Delicious I want to say melon Fanta but I never I don’t think I ever got melon Fanta from a vending machine I know what yours was that little apple drink remember apple drink it was so so crisp I don’t know how to describe what the apple juice tasted like but it was

Amazing if you had talked to us before we went if you had said Peter make a list of 20 foods that you’re going to enjoy in Japan I don’t think Curry would have been in that list oh my God Curry Japanese Curry we have become obsessed

Let me tell you the amount of times that we have ordered Japanese Curry since we’ve been home is I don’t even want to tell you because I’m embarrassed like I was like literally sing thinking when we were sitting here filming this I’m like after this we should order some Curry

And not just the curry but also like the the fried breaded um pork KATU KATU yeah so good the cheese you can’t forget the cheese oo put that cheese on there oh yeah sorry I got excited thinking about Curry but also we ateed this 7-Eleven every morning because it was attached to

Our hotel so we’d wake up and go down even when we didn’t film it and those sandwiches I love that egg sandwich but I also love that fruit sandwich and I feel like we didn’t even scratch the surface of the stuff that was in there and like it was just incredible like how

Like like you just want to go to 7-Eleven get grab something there and it was so good so good we have regrets because we had stuff planned like the first night we got there we were supposed to go out and try a ramen restaurant we were too tired so we ended

Up 7-Eleven going back and then like another night something happened so like we had these plans and they kept falling through is there anything you regret doing and the number one thing I regret doing was that Disney Harvest Market oh I say you can SC it’s not horrible but

Like if you’re in Japan I booked it because we wanted to go to a themed restaurant of some kind kit wanted to go to the Pokemon cafe so I was like oo a Disney one that’ll be good for the channel and we like Disney they’re kind

Of a gimmick yeah I mean I’ve heard from a lot of people that all those themed cafes are gimmicks that being said if we went back I do want to try to go to the Pokemon Pikachu comes out yeah we only had a certain amount of time in this

Trip we have a construction project going on in our house we have dogs dogs so we didn’t have enough time I’m not sure if you know this but Universal is in Osaka so it’s if you take a bullet train like the fast train it’s two and a

Half hours it’s not just like you know you go there for a day like you have to go to Asaka we wanted to do it right we wanted to actually be able to go there spend a few days there go to the parks for more than one day explore the city

And we just didn’t have time I mean I fell down a flight of stairs I don’t know if that’s what the question is about so when we were get travel insurance yeah when we were in here Juku and we went to that Cafe re issue it’s

That place where we got the dog lattes so cute you go up this like I don’t think I have a video of it but it’s like set of stairs that like so narrow and so steep like it would never pass building codes in United States but uh when we

Are leaving that place KRA I think was on her phone I missed a step so it went up and then it Cur and there was like two extra steps to go to where you need to go when we were leaving I didn’t anticip anticipate there being those two

Steps before the main staircase I just stepped for one wasn’t paying attention and fell down like half the flight of stairs a guy that was walking telling this story I thought this was like a private story um but the guy that was walking in the street picked kitra’s

Phone up in the middle of the street I’m surprised brought it in and hand yeah um I was in a lot of pain yeah so if you go back and you watch our hair yuku video just just if I seem a little low energy that’s why because I I had like this

Huge bruise it was it could have been a lot worse but I highly recommend get travel insurance because you never know what is going to happen I was so worried that we’re going to end up in the hospital and it was like I didn’t break

Any bones so that’s a positive but it I was in a lot of pain I was like oh no like the rest of the trip is ruined but I I managed I don’t know how but I managed here’s the things I learned from Japan and then we’ll get to the things I

Learned from Tokyo Disneyland land so first off awesome toilets let me tell you about these toilets they were amazing and every time that I used one every public restroom that I encountered I had to like run back and tell Peter to the point where he was like okay I get

It but like even in McDonald’s even when we went to like that Shrine in the middle of the forest the most amazing bathrooms you’ve ever seen in your life they’re all heated they all squirt at you some of them will like play privacy noises so oh my God incredible so

Cleanly no trash cans anywhere yeah that was a bit shocking to me so i’ if you’re going to Japan I would bring a bag with you like even if it’s like a small bag you can put in your pocket or in your bag I mean I guess if you have a bag

Then you don’t need a bag but you need to put your trash in there until you can find a trash can I think they got rid of trash cans because there was like this terrorist bombing thing not a lot of people like walking and eating that’s

Not a thing they do there yeah so don’t do every time we we’d stop and eat like I wouldn’t recommend walking and eating planed to be open to unplanned exploration some of the best things we did were things where we’re just like oh what’s that over there and we like you

Know have a plan like o it’s shiny let’s walk over there yeah what what is that up there and like we we’ find and go off in all these Adventures so don’t so don’t book your thing out so that you’re have too many plans that you can’t do

That some wiggle room Japan like every Alleyway is another adventure yeah and there’s also another thing there’s vending machines everywhere and I I don’t think we did a good job showing it in our video I’m talking like every like 30 feet there’s a vending I will say though I was a little disappointed

Watching YouTube videos you’re like oh there’s going to be all these crazy vending vending machines and there are vending machines to have like you know soups and warm stuff and like but it wasn’t like as crazy as I thought it was going to be most of the vending machines

Out when you’re walking around Tokyo are just drinks or like warm soup but I feel like the more interesting ones were like the train stations that’s where you find like the oh I need a a diaper or oh I need like ice cream or whatever they had

Everything if you eat out of McDonald’s or any kind of quick surf Place napkins are like these tiny like interesting like waxy consistency totally different than I think this is partially why they only give you like one they’re like here’s your one napkin yeah I think this

Is partially why when you go to gift shops at like Disney there’s all these hand towels I think Japanese bring hand towels with them okay I was surprised by the businesses being on multi level so if you’re an America and you’re walking down the street you will see like I know

A hair shop like a hair cutting place on on the bottom floor you’ll see a restaurant on the bottom floor and it’s usually like apartments above there or whatever no here like stores on top of stores and businesses on top of businesses walking up little narrow staircases yeah we we that yakatori

Place we went with Chris was was so interesting there’s like this tiny little elevator and like every level like it would open up to like a different restaurant there was like 12 stories it was so cool so don’t just look at what is on the brown floor look at what’s

Above too because maybe that’s the coolest places yeah eat at the places that you see really long lines of locals at if you want to know what’s good yeah you can look at Yelp you can look at Trip Advisor but while you’re walking around look for a line outside a place

That’s when you know yeah when we went to that juicy dumpling place that wasn’t even like on our radar until we walked by and it was just like none of the other places had a huge line like that and we’re like let’s go there one of the cultural differences that I noticed in

Japan is they put items on tables to reserve tables to claim them before they get their food so like we were eating at the great Waffle Company which had like an hourong line and people would put like their phone or their bag on a table and then like you’d get there and get

Your after waiting hour line there there’s no place to sit and there would just be empty tables with things people would do that with benches as well which I found I don’t know I just found it interesting like what if like my my ankle started hurting and I needed to

Sit down and I couldn’t because there was like somebody was holding it you know what I mean yeah things I learned about Tokyo Disneyland I didn’t notice this until after a couple days of being there and I was like hm most of the cast members are

Female like I want to say like 90 to 95% of the cast memb there are female and they’re the happiest cast members you’ve ever seen I will say once you did notice that though I made it my mission to try to find male cast members and it was hard yeah but

There they do exist I wonder why that is is it because culturally in Japan like if you’re a man you’re you know you have to be a businessman and you you see on the subway everyone’s wearing a suit and has a briefcase yeah once you noticed it

I was like oh yeah you’re right so only a few items at most of the quick service restaurant locations yeah menus are very small it’s like you have an option of three or four things and that’s it there is no like confectionary shop on their version of Main Street there’s no place

That you could just go in and get a candy apple or a Rice Krispie Treat or like a bag of like candy or whatever that doesn’t exist there soz there’s like I wanted to just go get like a little sweet treat I was like oh I could

Go grab myself a nice candy apple eat a later nope can’t do that they just sell the boxed like treats that I guess you give as gifts yeah so many of those every single thing you could imagine by the way you go in there at night right before closing it’s like Black Friday

It’s like Madness people it’s packed people are grabbing all the stuff that they want to bring back for their family and friends there really isn’t that many breakfast options in Tokyo Disneyland park so there’s like one pastry place at each of them the beds are really firm in

Tokyo even at Disney we thought oh maybe once we go to like the Disney Resort they’ll be nice and fluffy and plush no they are very stiff very firm and the pillows as well all the cast members incredibly happy so happy they’re like it’s so they made me cry at one point

Because they were just like welcome and I was like uh drink sizes are super small and there’s no refills when you go up to the register and they say what size do you want they’ll say do you want small or medium they don’t even offer small is like this big and medium is

Like this big yeah the majority of what I spent on this trip was spent on sodas there’s almost no attraction specific merch we want we love journeying to the Center of the Earth so I wanted to get like some kind of merch I wanted to get well obviously I can’t

Get a t-shirt but I would have got a t-shirt if I could um but they didn’t even offer t-shirts I wanted to get those like little guys that you ride by I wanted the only thing I think they had is they had like a almost like a

Matchbox style of the vehicle but other than that they had nothing like I wanted on um Tower ter they get like that little that doll yeah I think they used to have Tower merch I don’t know what’s going on if they used to have it or not

But yeah I was so excited to go in the gift shop after Journey to the Center of the Earth I’m like oh I’m going to buy so many like little stuffed animals of the little creatures nothing it was like they only sold Monsters Inc merch in

That shop I was like what what is going on here they do have awesome merch but it’s all like kind of character specific it’s like cute poo things or cute like Tokyo Disney Resort it’s like a balloon that says like Tokyo you know what I mean like it’s very like generic in that

Way but it was all amazing merch speaking of cast members you’ll see cast members cleaning everywhere anywhere all the time it’s like the height of the pandemic where every table is getting like sanitized every five minutes the other thing I didn’t expect is October is like Comic-Con at Disneyland yeah I

Think September and October I believe it’s the Halloween season there so you’re allowed to go all out wear full-blown costume that I feel like you could never get away with here ex like in general even at like the after hour parties here like you can’t wear some of them were more

Elaborate than like we saw a bell that was more elaborate than like the Bell that one time I saw Mary Poppins and I literally thought it was Mary Poppins and I started walking towards her and it was just like some random girl yeah the only only the only way you could tell is

You they were Japanese yeah one surprising thing is Star Tours almost had no line anytime I looked at the app which makes me wonder like is Star Wars not popular in Japan they’re having the celebration in Japan in 20 yeah there was never a wait for that and that Star

Tours building was huge it was huge there was plenty of room for lines in there and there never was one and you couldn’t find any Star Wars or Marvel March anywhere uh wait times for the counter service restaurants can be very long but they have wait times in for

Every restaurant in the app so that was kind of cool yeah that was interesting you could look can be like hm how long is it going to take me to get this Mickey waffle an hour okay let’s go wait yeah you can sometimes find Coke

Zero but more often than not Coke is the the only soda that you’ll find at any of the restaurants and the Coke Zero there taste different they probably don’t put as much like bad artificial sweeteners in it Diet Coke doesn’t exist as far as I can tell and if you’re lucky you’ll

Find Phantom melon I know that was more rare than I thought it would be especially at Disney I was like like Oh They’ll probably have that in every restaurant oh another thing I noticed is almost every single ride and restaurant had a sponsor so I wonder if that is why

The park is so everybody always says like Disneyland Tokyo is owned by the Oriental Land Company and they license from Disney and imagineering makes the rides and stuff like that but that’s why they say they say it’s because it’s not owned by Disney that it’s so wellmaintained and it looks so good but

I wonder maybe it’s also that they they get sponsorship money yeah cuz everything was sponsored every single almost every single restaurant and every single ride had some sort of big sponsor maybe that’s also how they keep ticket prices down but also I got to say on top

Of that the Japanese people are just not destructive or like they don’t litter they don’t you know we open Toontown and our like Mickey and min’s Runway Railway has like things ripped off of it like uh days after it opens doesn’t happen that so I think it’s like a different crowd

Too hopefully this video is helpful to someone out there if you’re planning your trip to Japan right now or just dreaming of it just know it’s going to be easier than you can possibly imagine and don’t be overwhelmed you’ll figure it out you got this we believe in you if

  1. As today is Christmas…just want to wish you both a VERY merry Christmas from rainy (and kinda warm!??) Canada and can’t wait for more adventures in the new year!!! ❤

  2. The maid cafes aren't sexual or adult related 😂😂 I've been to heaps in Japan! Unique experience- they dress up like maids and serve you cute desserts. Nothing adult-related happens haha youtube some videos!

  3. That Suika card tip with the phone is probably the best tip for me. Love all your vlogs, will go back and write everything down. When I lived in Europe I’d write out a cheat sheet while on the train going to the next country (no Euro in 77) money list. When id see a price I’d glance at my conversion chart. Faster than figuring it out all the time. It was an index card written $1, $2, $3 to $10 then $15, $20, 25, $30, $40, $50 etc. I still do that for pounds and euros.

  4. Hi Kitra and Peter happy new year best. Thanks for all the Japan/tokyo videos I appreciate it, I went to the mega don something that store have soo much stuff to see I only shopped at level one I bought 5 things ( my parents said you are not going to other levels you got 5 things already in one level lol). As for Disney I went to Disneyland, I went with two friends I had a fun time it was magical my dream came true top #1 bucket list I want to go for the past 32 years, I try the curry rice at the hungry bear restaurant it was delicious my two friends said it was delicious,we tried the curry rice at a restaurant before Disney and we all like it my parents bought 5 boxes of curry sauce, I was a little disappointed about the confectionery shop too, as for the merchandise I went into three stores I don’t see any clothing how come do you two know why? I have another question if you are in line and something happens to the ride do we get refunds like a couple of dollars back because the ride malfunction while we were halfway or more then halfway through the lineup ? That was really a big disappointment for me it was beauty and the beast no other Disney parks have this ride except Tokyo Disneyland ( we were inside the castle at the door entrance we were there like 5-10 minutes then announcement came on).It was fun and disappointing at the same time, I expected and had high hopes but a couple of things disappointing, I was in Tokyo for 4 days so not enough time for a second park day, two more questions is there a ferries wheel in the Disneyland park ? I didn’t see it maybe I wasn’t at that area, do characters walk around the parks to do meet and greets often or are we suppose to go to a certain area to go meet them for a certain time? I love the Christmas parade even though mickey and friends are not in it only Pluto loved Pluto, and the 3D Show, all the rides I went on were fun, enjoyable, and cute except the malfunction one😭🙁😠. I played the claw machines I didn’t win anything I played 5 dollars hehe all the plushies big or small really cute, did you two go into the pinball machines store ?

  5. I've been a los angeles man never left ever I now have daughters and always always wanted to go there so glad to see this video you guys are the best love the info maybe one day I'll go

  6. OMG, this is the video I’ve been needing. I am actually going to Japan march 2024 and I was telling my partner how I saw you guys went and that I was really really hoping you’d post a video like this one!! I haven’t even watched it yet but I’m so excited. I’m sure you guys are going to give great tips 😊 we are for sure overwhelmed with planning everything but I can’t wait to go! I haven’t gotten to watch all of your Japan trip but I’m starting with this one and can’t wait to watch them all! Thank you guys❤

  7. Thank you so much for all the info on your Tokyo vlogs. We are heading there, at the end of February and I thought I couldn’t get a Suica card. You’ve set me straight on that, and its now loaded into my apple wallet. I’m also watching & waiting for the Photolab museum to release tickets. Yay

  8. Why is this the same link to tips and tricks when really the photo has a green train in it this is the live video the tips and tricks video. I want to copy the live video stream so I could post it so we could hear it again but instead it didn’t come out the video with the green train picture. It came out the tips and tricks one what is that, the photo is different but the link is actually the same as the last one would be number 11 I am confused about this last video. Please explain.

  9. THANK YOU so much for this video!! It’s so AWESOME that you share so much with us and Your videos inspired us to plan our trip to Tokyo!! I’ve been taking lots of notes from each video especially this one!
It is a little stressful now knowing how we have to book the Disney hotel but hoping we can do it.
Thank you for always being so great when we see you out and about my youngest Daughter has about 6 photos with you 2 because she never misses a chance. Happy New Year and cheers to more upcoming adventures!

  10. Thank you for the video! Love the series so much! I can't wait for you to go back to Japan! Also on the hand towel/face towel topic. While there are many reasons they are carried. One big reason I found was because the summer months are so hot, people in Japan carry them to wipe away sweat. So I actively carried and used a face or hand towel when I was visiting in September, because the heat and humidity is unbearable at times.

  11. Super helpful video! Thanks for taking the time to put this together. It does seem very overwhelming to plan a trip to Japan at first, but we managed as well and it was very enjoyable! Number one tip is keep your expectations at bay and allow some flexibility in your planning and you’ll do just fine. 👍🏼 Thanks again Peter and Kitra for an amazing Japan video series! Can’t wait for your next trip to Osaka. Universal Japan loves their Minions and Hello Kitty which I don’t mind at all! 🥰❤ Happy holidays and happy new year to you both! ❤ Arlene

  12. Japan is one of my most favorite countries. Hyper-Modern Futuristic, that's the only way I can describe it. I've always heard Roppongi is the red light district and was told it's safer to stay away (as solo female traveler). I toured around and loved Tokyo, especially the Imperial Palace and Tokyo Tower. I also went down to Yokosuka (pronounced Yokuska). I always walked in to places in the morning saying "Ohayo" and I DID NOT TIP. You do not tip in Asia, like touching, its offensive. When I go back I'd like to go to Yokohama to see the life size Unicorn Gundam (which is only there until March 2024). Great vlog/tips!!!!

  13. I have never travelled outside the continental US in my life and the biggest thing that scares me is the prepping before the trip. Getting travel insurance, making sure your phone is going to work outside the country, booking flights, booking hotels, getting the difference currency. This whole vlog series has shown me some things I dream of doing sometime in my life. Just hope I can get over my fears. Thank you so much for this and all you Japan videos!

  14. We did the airport bus which took us directly to the Sheraton. Also, we rented a portable hot spot for internet and just used face time or WhatsApp to make calls or text

  15. Just got back from Tokyo! It's amazing that you guys did this video. It's like comparing notes to me.

    1. Tap water is drinkable in Tokyo, so you don't need to pay for bottled water unless you dislike the taste of their tap water.

    2. And yes, Japanese people carries handkerchiefs. I noticed in the public restrooms, they use their own handkies to dry hands after washing. Very few people use drying machine or paper towel (if it's even available).

    3. And yes, their drink size is TINY! Even in Starbucks outside of Disneyland, I saw majority of people ordered Tall. And occasionally saw someone with a Short, which is even smaller than a Tall. Cultural chock to me! If you see someone with a Venti cup, s/he is likely to be a tourist. When my husband went to order an "extra large" in Tully's (Japanese brand similar to Starbucks), the staff took out a large cup and my husband said "no, larger (with hand gesture)". Guess what he said? He said "American large?" Then my husband said yes.😂

    4. There is a pop culture in Japan that a group of friends wear their high school uniforms or cosplay costume to Disneyland. Haha. I think it's cute.

    5. Japanese people are so good with waiting in lines! I have to say I hate waiting in lines. My feet hurt to the point that I wanted to cry while the people around me still look relaxed. I definitely need to train myself before I go next time!😂

  16. I love the idea of saving a table before eating. It sucks walking around with your food when all you want to do is eat. Loved the Tokyo series. Thank you!

  17. H I S travel is a good agency to use as long as you plan six month in advance before cherry blossom season. 500 dollar round trip for coach. stay at a ryokan (family hotel) for as little as 75 dollars a night. i stayed at the cherry blossom hotel in Iria.

  18. Guys, awesome video. This whole series on Japan was great, and this video was very helpful. I hope to get to Japan some day, and when we do I will probably come back and rewatch this.

  19. I love seeing your video's improve overtime. It seems that every single new video you post, the editing quality and overall video just gets way better. Keep going!

  20. First off, Kitra I'm glad you didn't break your foot this time!

I've never been to Japan, but I know many people who have and have found out that walking and eating is considered very disrespectful and rude.

Also, the reason why you don't see trash cans anywhere is because trash collection is very expensive. When you go to a hotel or an establishment to eat at, that establishment has the burden of paying for trash. That's why you don't see any trash cans on the street. Even with trash cans on the street here in the United States it is littered with trash, at least here in Los Angeles.

I love how technologically advanced, and I don't know how everybody affords those toilets, but we definitely need those here!

I also love how the Japanese people have such a pride in their country, educational system, infrastructure, and just the respect they have for other people (except for reserving tables and benches… that seems like something we do would do here in the U.S. The only difference is in the U.S. nobody would respect that reserved spot haha!)

So, if you had a choice to live in Japan permanently would you choose Japan over the United States?
