St Patricks Cathedral – Dublin, Ireland

Yeah Hello friends welcome to Dublin Ireland I’m here at St Patrick’s Cathedral the National Cathedral of all of Ireland let’s go and check it out okay wow commercial ization of Jesus to the max you got to pay admission to come into this church not much different than

Other churches I guess you have to pay tithing you don’t have to but here you have to got to pay to get it this is awesome now wow I’ve received this tour guide booklet in English they have lots of different languages and also this handy dny little telephone thing that gives

You an audio tour of the C Cathedral as you walk through so I’m going to get started I’m going to listen to this and I’ll report what I find everybody’s walking around talking on these what looks like early 9s telephones but that’s just everyone on a tour including me it’s pretty

Informative I didn’t know so much about St Patrick before this now I do built on the site of what is believed to be the holy well that St Patrick himself used in Services St Patrick’s Cathedral construction was complete and dedicated to God our blessed Lady Mary and St

Patrick on March 17th 1191 making this structure one of the oldest buildings in Dublin and one of the only structures still intact from the medieval period in the city in its 831 years it’s been remodeled two times due to Civil Wars caused by England’s Conquest to gain

Control of Ireland the tower standing at 120 ft and the West Nave were rebuilt in 1362 due to a fire making it the tallest cathedral in Ireland it’s the only remaining cathedral in Ireland with daily sung Services which all people are invited to twice a day from its first

Burial in 1271 to current day more than 600 Irish political and religious Heroes including Jonathan Swift author of glier’s travels Lennox Robinson a playwright and director several archbishops leaders of Trinity College and some parishioners of the church are all buried here these burials are within the walls of the church under the floor

And on the grounds of the two acre property one interesting burial of a war hero Lies Beneath The Cannonball that killed the man on display hanging from the wall due to religious reform throughout Europe during the 16th and 17th centuries denominations of the church changed ultimately remaining Anglican after the battle of the

Bo St Patrick’s Cathedral can accommodate 3,000 parishioners it hosts a choir and grammar school founded in 1432 2 and has been Ireland’s national Cathedral since 1870 the spiral staircase leads up to a pipe organ which has more than 4,000 pipes and includes parts that date back to 1695 each year an estimated 300,000

Visitors enter the cathedral to explore its history pray and attend a service making it Ireland’s most visited building what a beautiful piece of architecture that we’re standing in this church is 800 years old so old was built before the independence of Ireland there’s so many things in history that’s

Happened during the time that this church has been standing here it’s crazy even though this is all beautiful and everything to me I just see an epic waste of money on the church’s part they could have fed thousands of people with the amount of money they took to build

This thing and you know who knows but hopefully they’re doing some benevolent things with the money that they get from the tours that people paining I think it costs a couple bucks per person to get was for six of us was just over $50 so they’re they’re making something I think

All the money goes to help you know maintain the building there’s a lot to maintain here the government does not help them do any of that so it’s up to people like us or patrons people interested to see the place learn about the history that keep it keep it going

Today but in its history the wonderful folks of Dublin have supported this and built this on their their hard work and here we are enjoying it like every good tour you got to end in the gift shop here we are in the gift shop of the church wonder if they sell Testaments

Here I don’t know about Testaments but they sell socks with parts of the stained glass and some Irish themes right from St Patrick’s Cathedral and it’s Christmas time you get your St Patrick’s Cathedral Christmas ornaments mugs and figurines and looks like little candies and magnets and all

Your all your stuff that you want they sell this little snow glob this says silly cow on it with a cow in it right underneath this bust probably recognizing somebody famous in Ireland’s history are the postcards which I’m probably going to have to pick some up here have some crosses and some

Little blessing coins put one of these in your pocket and remember to pray and stuff well thanks for joining me here friends at St Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin Ireland I appreciate your company I’ll see you in the next video

  1. I'm from Dublin and that's the first glimpse I've got into that church. I'm appalled by both the sale of anything like that in a church, and the cheap tat that is being sold. Four leaf clovers purporting to be Irish symbols? Give me a break. Shameful. I believe this country is over-touristed and this policy of tourism at any cost is not good for the country: there's a limit.
