Marseille, France to Frankfurt, Germany with 320 km per our, TGV inOui international bullet train

Bonjour and welcome to another trip report I’m standing in front of the Railway Station Masai Central from here in many times mainly all over France but there are also some International Trends and what I will do in this video I’ll be taking the train to Frankfurt in Germany

I’ll tell you something about other International routes from until here as well um but what I will do in this video I’ll start off by showing you the railway station then I’ll show you the trade and then I’ll show you some views from the train I hope you like this video or this

Is a helpful video to you if so please give me a thumbs up and if you’d like to see more trip reports about more sustainable ways of transportation many Train sometimes Ferry and even sometimes buses but many folks on long distance and international traveling to show you

What it’s like to travel the more sustained wave Transportation then hit the Subscribe button but for now I’ll talk way too much let’s roll the intro Before we dive into the topic of this video a quick comparison on the environmental impact if you’re charging by train car and plane on this route what is between marsai in France and Frankfurt and Germany total carbon footprint if you’re traveling by train is 98.3 percent lower

Than making the same journey by plane the total energy resources saw the amount of energy that is needed for the train might be a bit higher than this percentage but because the energy resources that are being used for trains are much more sustainable the total carbon footprint is way lower when it

Comes to travel time the train and the plane are really competitive and encomp everything together the direct dgv in we trade needs 7 hours and 30 minutes the car is by far the slowest way of transportation and needs about 9 hours non-stop I arrived in marsai with a direct tgv in we train

That came from Brussels in Belgium and of course I also made a trip report on that and at the moment as you leave mashai railway station you’ll notice immediately that this is a hilly City Marseille is the second city of France when it comes to population and right

Under the railway station you’ll find the metro station you will find two Metro lines in marsai and not far away from the railway station there’s also a Tramway at the moment I recorded this the entrance to the Metro from the main Concourse was being renovated so therefore you have to go via another

Entrance but this will be open soon and probably if you watch this video this won’t be a renovation project anymore and it will be way prettier right next to the entrance of the Metro there’s a big taxi stand and this is all at the lower part from the level where

The trains arrive it’s at the part where you go up here on the right around the railway station there are several spots where you can pick up River business by car there are some bus stops some Regional and some long distance bus stops but I’ll get back to the long

Distance bus stop in a bit a pickup and drop a stone from Real Business by cars on more taxi stands well the usual stuff you might expect over here this railway station opened first on the 8th of January in 1848 and it has been expanded ever since

As you can see here the left part is much more modern than the part at the moment at the moment when I’m turning the camera to the right side the left part is mainly for long distance buses and on the right side you find the trains there have been some

Extensions for the train as well but I will show you this in a bit one thing I really like and this is absolutely not unique but is having a piano at a railway station I saw some cool stuff happening with B Anderson Railway stations really spontaneous performances and also the guy that was playing the piano over there he was really good but I’m just very bad at this this here is The Concourse of Maasai Central Railway Station that before I

Get into this let me show you a railway map of France is the terminal station of the lcv profound Alps called desirio this is basically the High Speed Line Between Leon and martial from Leon you find connection on other high-speed lines and the most famous one

Is the Leon to Paris what is the first high-speed line ever built in Europe despite the fact that Masai Central is a terminal railway station some trains just make a Switchback over here and some other trains don’t even call here this here is right before the railway

Station franchise in China and as you can see here on the tracks on the left they will go straight along the code user without stopping at massaging challah and there are quite some trains to do that those trains will go further in two directions nice and Monaco by the

Way the travel time to nice is quite long compared to the travel time for example in two direction Paris just I can’t say this enough but travel time and travel distance are never ever related if you’re traveling by train because a high-speed train especially a high speed train that doesn’t stop that

Fragrance is so much faster than conventional trains and also if you take a sleeper train you should always count minus eight hours because that’s the time that you’re sleeping and traveling at the same time anyway enough of that let’s go back to massage enchilada railway station and this here is the main Concourse

The layout is pretty straightforward there are some vending machines for train tickets at the front of the Railway Station and at the end of other platforms you’ll find most facilities shops where regulated Services Etc at the platforms do you find some vending machines for snacks and drinks

As well but well it’s not really worth mentioning it but still I’m doing it to most platforms and especially the platforms for the long distance trains you will find access gates as you see over here and throughout the railway station there are clear departure screens with information about departing and arriving trains

There are not a lot of big screens but you just find a lot of screens in general what makes it really convenient since the opening of this railway station in the 1800s the railway station has been extended obviously what might be a little bit confusing over here is

That you find platforms and basically tracks where you find letters and numbers at the main Concourse you’ll find lots of vending machines and also a ticker counter and if you move along this platform over here on the right you will see the first class Lounge what is

Mentioned as Salon de Grant Voyager if I pronounce it right sorry for my friends not all first class tickets do gain access to the first class lens and besides that these rules might change in the near future so I’m not gonna mention too much of this

If you walk a little bit more to the front over here or basically to the back of the Railway Station you find the platforms that do have numbers these are the extended platforms apart from that the platforms that do have numbers are being mainly used for regional trains and these Regional

Trends are being mentioned as t-e-r what basically stands for can express aqnab apart from good signs all over the railway station there are also stickers at the floors that do indicate what fitted these can be found where and it’s a good old tradition for friends high-speed Railway stations

There are also quite some car rental companies around here back to the main Concourse of Massachusetts over here you find lots of shops like I mentioned before fast food places Etc so no need to worry about that if you want to take a seat or you can go to one of

These restaurants and directions have been marked Crystal Clear of course everything has been mentioned in France but also in English like Ephraim France and in railway station in France there’s always a third language in this railway station that’s consistently Italian apart from the railway station this is

Also quite a big bus station I showed you a small bus stop for city buses at the site already but over here there’s a rather big bus station for regional buses and even some long distance buses and this bus station is rather busy on the countryside in France public

Transport is not always that good and especially not that frequent but the budget here seem to be quite popular somehow renting a car from a high-speed railway station in France is quite a common thing well let’s go to our train and our train isn’t listed yet actually

I don’t travel with the train that will go to my Frankfurt today because I found out that if I sleep near the railway station of afino Sansa this is way more affordable for me so I have to go to my train and at the moment you go through the gates uh

Screen will indicate in what Carriage you’ll have a reservation in what seat you have there will be clear displays at the platform that will host information about what’s carrots of the train will be aware at the platform and it seemed like when they built this railway station they were also planning to use

Some underground Passages at the other side of the platform well this was before they came up with making the gates and this here is the train that I’ll be taking from the first leg of my journey today for this leg I’ll be traveling to Avion tcv right next to that I’ll be

Staying at a very low budget hotel what saved me a lot of money so I can well afford to make more trip reports like this if you’re traveling with any TCC and we train and you’re traveling with your rail or interrail like what I do for my journey you’re obligated to make

A seat reservation and that’s also what I did for this small section the prices for domestic trains vary between 10 and 20 Euro and is based on the demand of passengers a little bit later on in this video I’ll get back on how I book my tickets I don’t do this

Very much in depth but probably I write something about this in the description of this video as well and speaking of it in the description of this video you might find some other interesting links and other related videos as well is a dedicated railway station for the

High speed trains although from here on you also find some local trades that will go to offer your Sandra what is not that far away from here by train I stayed over here in Africa because it saved me a lot of money if I would find a place in my side

Because me quite some but because this tcv Railway stations or in General close to highways you can also sleep at lower price budget hotels along highways that’s exactly what I did good value for money um it’s cheap but the value for money is good but I think I also said enough about the

Quality it’s quite noisy actually but hey maybe if I’m traveling like this I need to watch my money a little bit of course right now I’ll continue my way to the railway station of Avenue dzv um and I will show you uh that railway station as well

I hope it’s not too busy in the train to film Well it’s worse busy in the train I can tell you that as a matter of fact when I booked my tickets and I did this pretty last minute I couldn’t find tickets from afion or Maasai all the way

To Frankfurt in one go so I had to split up my ticket and that way I had at least availability I had for the first three hours of the journey one seat and then for the other half of the journey I had another seat so I had to change seats what is another

Big problem to me the railway station offering on tcv is really located on the outskirts of offenio and this is more like an industrial area it’s really car focused over here and therefore you find lots of parking spots around the railway station apart from that and once again also like

I told you at the railway station Marseille you find plenty of car rental companies around this place keep in mind though if you want to rent a car in the summer time when it’s really popular prices might be relatively High and something else you’ll find near the

Front of the railway station is a bus stop because it’s still a public transport spot over here where you find quite some long distance trains and also International long distance trains and even though this is not a spot like for example my size in Charlotte was in the

Middle of the city and where you really feel the city life it is quite an important railway station and for this station I won’t do a very in depth of Station review though but let me show you a little bit around here at the I think back of the Railway

Station you’ll find this area here there are some vending machines for trendix and this here is basically the spot that gains access to the platforms for the regional trains that will go to alfino santra but is the railway station in the city center of Africa these local trains

To depart from the tracks that do have the ladders so a MB for example as you can see over here for now let’s go back to the main Concourse of this railway station we found quite some shops and over here even a local shop although you find this shop everywhere over here it’s

Local this here is a railway map for regional threads and as you can see some of the high-speed Railway stations are not connected to any kind of local trains at all for example XM performance this here is the main hall of the Railway Station and it’s quite spacious

To be honest you’ll even find two halls North and South most passengers that do depart from here will use the platforms for that will go up North and here you find the North and the South Hall the other end there are obviously more parking spots spots where you can drop

Off passengers by car ATM well I think the usual stuff of course there are also some vending machines where you can buy tickets a ticket shop and some space is where you can buy food however I really recommend you especially for long distance trains and especially for these

Trains in the summertime don’t book your ticket last minute because the trains might be fully booked once again I splited up my tickets before I well could purchase the ticket for this train as you can see there is my train listed and I think it’s also time to go to my

Train now there are other failures escalators and there’s also a ramp to the platform just like at the railway station of Maasai I need to scan my ticket before I can gain access to the platform and it didn’t work well at first when I do this it has been clearly

Marked what seat number Garrett’s number Etc I do have so I will be reminded about this after the moment you went through the gates there are lots of places where you can have a sit and there’s also free Wi-Fi available within this railway station and this here is a compensation

Screen for my train today both within the station but also at the platform you will find letters and the compensation screen will refer to letters you know more or less what cares will be where at the platform and even though this isn’t a railway station where you will go to for example for

Shopping it’s quite functional I really like the architecture of this railway station it’s really bright and modern this railway station has four tracks for high-speed trains two of these tracks are directly located on a platform and there are two other through tracks for trains that don’t go here

Here is another train coming in heading towards Maasai and this here is my train coming in that will take you to Frankfurt in Germany for now I’ll start off by showing you the exterior of these trains and it was rather busy when I filmed the train

Coming in so I will use the exterior I shot at the railway station of Frankfurt in Germany and as you can see the platforms are on a different height in Germany than in France however if you need assistance and you need to have easy accessible characters no need to

Worry about that because you can request assistance on the outside of the Train on the numbers 1 and 2 it has been clearly marked where you will find the first and the second class apart from that what facilities can be found where on not really marked because if you book a

Train ticket for these trains your ticket always comes including a seat reservation and if you’re traveling with a rail pass like your rail or interval you’re obligated to buy a seat reservation slash URL interval surcharge apart from the dining car that has been clearly marked digital screens at the side of the train

Will host information about the routes the train number stops along the way and the final destination and at the moment you enter the train right above the door it has been clearly marked what class you’re in and what way to go to for what seats also the carriage number has been

Marked over here especially in the areas between the characters it has been clearly marked what way to go to for what facilities in the train for example the dining car the diaper changing facility or the toilets and speaking of which let’s start off with a toilet review you find several

Traders Within These trains and these are the regular toilets at the lower deck they’re a bit more spacious than the toilets at the upper deck well this is how the Taurus or I should have changed the settings of My Lens but well this is how they are nothing special and

Most importantly they were cleaned during my trip I recorded this at the end of the journey the second class that’s also the class where I traveled on for this trip comes in a two by two configuration for luggage you’ll find special lugged zones within the open compartments and also

Between the characters where you can store quite some luggage and also within the open compartments it has been clearly marked especially the area between the back ends of the seats is something people would forget otherwise to put some logos in there and you can store quite some nuggets over there

Between the characters at the upper deck there are some spare seats and actually I really like these there’s even a reading light and a personal power plug one proceed that’s more than in the regular seats for the second class even though most seats do come in Airline style composition there are some

Bay seats and some of these seats do have a bigger table you can fold out in the middle and some other Shades do have a smaller table at the sides you can fold out but that’s only count for the window seats that’s more ideal if you’re traveling with a family for example

These here are the airlines deposits you do have a decent amount of leg room and I’m a very tall guy I’m over 1 meter 90. there’s a food rest power plug between the seats in front of you where you also find a little bin all windows both at

The upper and the lower deck do have a sunscreen and of course reading lights above the reading lights you’ll find the seed number and right next to that there’s a small display that should indicate from where to where a seat has been reserved there are also some sturdy folder tables

In the seat in front of you and there’s a button at the site you can use to recline the seats if I fully recline them I still have okayish amount of leg room anyway still good enough and comfortable enough for a long journey of about 7 hours once again the overhead

Luggage racks in double deck trains are not that impressive but really there’s enough storage room I mean I can’t say this enough these are still long distance trains after all between the first and the second class he will find the dining car or as they call it the bar area

It’s really nice the dining car is there although it’s not a place where you go to to have a nice seat it’s a really nice place to stretch your legs a bit if it’s busy over here you can also order via the a wi-fi system of these trains it’s really convenient to

Do that this here are the first class seats and the first class comes in a two by one configuration you’ll find just like as a second class a combination of both Airline style seats and seats facing each other so Bay seeds between the carriages it’s roughly the same although there’s one bigger toilet

That’s also an accessible toilet and well let’s do a seed review of the first class seats the seeds are way wider than in the second class and you have slightly more leg room for the rest it’s roughly the same although you find one power plug per

Seat in first class and the most fancy thing when it comes to First Class compared to the second class if you recline these seats in the first class it’s fully automatic and even though first class doesn’t give you that much more service compared to second class it’s a really nice first class product

By the way on screens at the end of the compartments both in first second class but also in a dining car route information will be given the top speed for these trades is 320 kilometers per hour and for a small section of the journey they will also go on this top

Speed not for the entire Journey there will be high speed lines used so therefore the total effort speed because the train also makes some stops along the way will be somewhere between 150 and 160 kilometers per hour I don’t know the exact journey by train but it’s

About 1100 kilometers or a bit more that’s what I know this here is the diaper changing facility for if you’re traveling with kids free Wi-Fi is available it doesn’t just link your mobile device to the internet but also to onboard entertainment system and the system wave and root information about the journey

Well I think I told you quite a lot and if you want to know more just ask questions in the comment section I try to answer them as good as possible let me tell you something about tickets fast while I show you some views from the

Train you can book the train tickets for these trains both fire the friends and fight a German State and Railway companies and they both do have their own ticket system so it might be worth looking up the different fares at the different Railway company however even though the friends in the German state

Of Railway companies do work together for this International high-speed trains they don’t really sell other tickets so if you want to continue your journey in France from Germany or in Germany from France this is really limiting the tickets you can see and the destinations we can book tickets to you really need

To look a little bit further also another thing if you book tickets fight at German State and Railway company and new book tickets via Germany for example from Denmark to Austria or from the Netherlands to Poland this works even though in that situation there are always some exceptions that don’t work I

Can make a whole video about this but that’s not what I’m doing right now if you book these stickers to France it is technically possible however you will only get the full fare you will not get the promotional tickets so if you do this to France you need to split up your

Ticket somewhere in Germany and the best thing is to split it up in a way that you still have your passenger rights if you miss a connection and that’s next level basically there are a lot of things that can be improved when it comes to rail ticketing within Europe also for my

Journey today I couldn’t book a ticket from afternoon to Frankfurt however I could book a ticket from athenon to somewhere in the middle but was still in France and from there on to Frankfurt however if you try to do the same thing fight the German State don’t throw away

Company this doesn’t work because then the first action counts as a domestic train within France and that doesn’t work via the German state of Railway company however if it seems like these trains are fully booked just try to see if you can split your ticket and most of

The times you will have a seat in that situation and this is maybe why I’m a big fan of trainline because they make it easier to book train tickets within Europe and this doesn’t count for all of Europe though for example don’t try to use train 9 in Scandinavia on a domestic

Level booking train tickets is relatively easy in Europe however at the moment you want to cross a border there are so many things that can be improved well maybe this is a nice subject for a future video where I show the obstacles of booking International tickets and

Also how to avoid those obstacles and hopefully some politicians will pick that up but for now I’ll show you some views from the Train on my way to Frankfurt in Germany without any talking Thank you Thank you [Applause] [Applause] Foreign Hello from frankfurt’s main station here in Germany that’s it for this video of course it’s quite smooth right it was a little bit busy though it’s really hard to film right now I’ll continue my way towards the Netherlands with this ice right behind me I had only a two minute

Delay so it was basically on time there was a bigger video along the way but it can’t stop anyway I hope you liked this video if you’d like to see more traffic reports hit the Subscribe button related videos for this video can be found in the description of this specific video

Um and if you like it or this has been a helpful video to you please give me a thumbs up see you on my next video once again thank you for watching if you liked it or this has been helpful video too please give me a thumbs up and if you
