From the parking lot we took a hike through the beautiful beech forest to the hunting lodge The castle can also be reached with the Flying Roland, a steam locomotive-powered nostalgic narrow-gauge railway The railway has been running across the island of Rügen since 1895

Once the luxuriously furnished hunting retreat of the Putbus princely family the castle, built between 1837 and 1846, is now Rügen’s most attractive visitor magnet for tourists and locals In addition to a museum castle worth seeing, guests can expect a grueling thrill when climbing the 38 meter high tower

Today, visitors to the hunting lodge can expect a recently completely redesigned exhibition that takes a look at the history of the house itself and that of the Putbus royal family

In some places, lost inventory could be retrieved, others were replaced with contemporary objects, and some were recreated and staged using modern exhibition fixtures or media

All in all, the presentation offers guests of the castle deeper insights into all topics related to the building and the Granitz, not only educational but also extremely entertaining for adults and children

Neben einem sehenswerten Museumsschloss erwartet die Gäste vor allem ein aufreibender Nervenkitzel beim Besteigen des 38 Meter hohen Turms.
