秘密にしたい！南フランスの可愛い村、キュキュロン / とても暑い秋だった10月 / お気に入りレストラン / 可愛い猫 / 中世の街並みが残る町 / Cucuron, South of France
Hello everyone! This is Sayaka who lives in the South of France. In October 2023 we went to Cucuron, a village in Provence in the south of France. Hello! Hello! Today we are in Cucuron. A farmers’ market is held here every Tuesday morning, but it was not held here today.
On the way here, I saw a lot of people in a different place, so let’s go there! This place is called Place de l’Étang. In 1403, this pond already existed and was used to supply the mills. There was a sour smell from this area.
Is there a place where wine is made near here? It looked like they were making wine there. We decided to go and have a look. The factory is so big. I would be intoxicated by the smell of this wine alone. It seems to be the skins of the grapes that have already been used.
He thought the market is smaller than usual. It was October when we visited, so there were a lot of chestnuts on the ground. (These chestnuts are not edible.) First, we go to a shop that sells kitchenware made from olive wood. I would like to have another one of these.
The one I was looking at was for rubbing garlic and other things. I would certainly like to have that too. This is a coaster, I think. This one is a coaster as well. What is this one used for? Is this what you use for mixing? They also have tongs!
We decided to just buy a wooden spatula. (We were comparing them because they are handmade, so each one is a little bit different, but we had seen so many that they all started to look the same.) We finally decided to buy one. This is a knife for cheese. This one is for meat?
I wondered whether I should buy this small knife for cutting bread and cake. The day we visited was mid-October 2023, but it was still hot like a summer and a lot of summer vegetables were available.
This shop also had a stall at Lourmarin’s market, which we visited earlier in the spring. (We bought our lunch there.) The price of 1.10€/kg of organic apples was unbeatable, so we bought some with a few blemishes, but we didn’t mind.
They told us that it would be good to make compote with them as they had quite a few scars. Next I came to buy vegetables. These grapes are very small and look like they are for wine. Matthieu bought another kind of grapes.
I bought 2 kg of apples earlier and I will buy some more apples. I eat apples when I’m peckish. We leave our purchases in our car. I thought this parking was Saint-Victoire, but it was Saint-Victor. After this, we went to our car to leave our purchases.
For lunch we went to Restaurant Matcha, which we were so happy with last time. (The name of the restaurant is Matcha, after Mathieu’s Mat and Charlotte’s Cha. ) These two are after our meal. This is the starter – cream of cauliflower. It looks like croutons and bacon on top. It is so good.
Even though I don’t really like cauliflower, it was really good, and I would eat it again! Really tasty! The bottom is a salty thin pancake called blini, with salmon and carrots on top. The cats like fish, so he went for my salmon. I eat salmon. Salmon is so good!
I order a kind of risotto. It has courgette and parmesan cheese on top. You can also try it, Matthieu. It is delicious. This was not rice, but Risoni, a pasta shaped like rice. The pink ones were onions and tasted like they were dipped in vinegar.
The vegetable called panais in France. It is mashed with it. It was very tasty! It is delicious. This is beef. The surface of the meat is tough, but the inside is tender and really tasty! The cat got the meat from Matthieu. He looks like he wants to eat more.
Apples baked in the oven with vanilla ice cream and crumble. Looks delicious! It smells very nice. Delicious. Very good! I wanted a knife and fork as it was very hard. Sorry it doesn’t look beautiful. I think there is caramel inside that biscuit.
This passion fruit sauce? is very difficult to explain, but it’s just delicious. The problem with this dessert is that it is difficult to eat. Matthieu’s was a classic delicious dessert and mine was an interesting and tasty dessert. Once our bellies are full, we take a walk through the village.
There used to be an icehouse here for storing blocks of ice and we found the remains of the building. The building seems to have been circular. We walk towards the tower which can be seen at the top of the hill. This is the first time we’ve been on this side.
There is almost no wind today. (It’s always windy in the villages around here.) We have arrived at the tower. We have been to this village many times, but we have never been to this tower. Can we go inside the building?
The fortified tower was built during the Wars of Religion in 1542 to help defend the village. The view from here was beautiful and the breeze very pleasant. Which direction should we go in after this? We have never been to the street on the right or the street on the left.
Cucuron is a surprisingly large village! Why isn’t Cucuron in Japanese guidebooks? It has so many historically important buildings that it could be a Most Beautiful Village of France in the future. It is a lovely house. I thought I had never been to this place, but I have been here before.
After all, it may not be such a big village. I like the sound of the stones on the stairs. There are lots of grapes. There were lots of grapes. Matthieu, he wants to eat them, but can we eat these? Grapes are falling.
Built in the 13th century, the church is partly Provençal Romanesque and partly Gothic. Church Street and School Street are the most common street names in France. (It’s true, churches and schools can be found in almost every town!)
When we were in the village before, a cat was sleeping on a bench here and Matthieu disturbed him. The bench from that time is gone. There was a cat! He was relaxing outside the window, but he went into the room.
This used to be a washing place. Now there is no water, and it says not to drink. Probably the same cat as before came back. He is a very friendly cat. The cat is changing places and cleaning his tail. (We didn’t touch his tail.) There’s another fountain here. There is also a place to wash clothes here. There used to be a large population. There is water inside. It’s prohibited to drink it. You can’t do your washing here now. We have to clean this place first before it can be used. Last time I came here, there were a lot of cats.
This was the first time I came to this street. There was also a laundry area! Is this one for drying clothes? Built in 1540, this gate is one of the two remaining gates in the fortress of Cucuron. This is the first time we’ve been up these steps.
Red berries that look like cherries, I used to see them all the time. What kind of fruit is it? A very nice smell comes from somewhere. I also hear birds singing. There is probably a big family. This time I went to Cucuron.

キュキュロンはプロヴァンス＝アルプ＝コート・ダジュール地域圏、ヴォークリューズ県にある人口1,700人ほどの村で、隣にはアンスウィやルールマランなどのフランスの最も美しい村に選ばれている村があります。
私たちが訪れた日は10月でしたが、まだ夏のように暑い日でした。まずは午前中に朝市で買い物をした後、レストランで私たちのお気に入りのレストランでランチを食べた後、村を散歩しました。
