Virgin Voyages – Mediterranean Cruise

Virgin are the newbies on the cruise scene and promoting themselves to offer a very different type of cruising experience away from the normal service of cruise lines to a new way of doing things but what’s it like to sell with them well I bought myself in a week’s

Crews around the Mediterranean to find out join me as I give you a taste of Virgin voyagers experience from the destinations we visit the facilities on board the cabin and even a quick test of the infamous hammocks I’ll find out if it’s a party which some say it is

What type of passengers does virgin attract and what’s the overall atmosphere like on board so sit back relax and let me show you a typical holiday virgin Voyer style and let me start by taking you for a quick look around the ship welcome aboard the beautiful Valiant Lady let’s start on Deck five and the stunning pinky gar restaurant this upmarket Mexican eery offers loads of great dishes in a chilled atmosphere adjacent is Sailor Services which is the main reception on board deck five is also home to razzled Dazzle a vegetarian and vegan restaurants deck

Five also has the ship Spa which looked amazing heading up to deck six you’ll find extra virgin the ship’s Italian restaurant and opposite you have the test kitchen with a menu full of experimental dishes close by is the High Street with a number of dutyfree shops the hairon

Barers as well as the ship’s own tattoo paror across is on the Rocks a lively cocktail Barb deck six also has the Mana nightclub the ship’s casino and the Red Room which is a multi-purpose theater up to deck s you’ll find the entrance to the wake a steak and seafood

Restaurant and adjacent you have the dock house and its beautiful Terrace my favorite bar on the ship Heading forward you come across the social club this is part din P Sports Bar and has board games to play as well as air hockey tables next to it though is a very cool bar the Loose Cannon serving beers and alss it’s a little hidden so make sure you don’t miss it

Further forward you come to the grounds club which is the ship’s coffee shop and this place does serve some excellent coffee nearby is the ice cream bar and the pizza place as well as the roundabout which is the ship’s Atrium home to another bar the Draft House

You’ll also find sip Champagne Bar on this deck as well as private karaoke Rings heading up to deck 15 you have the galley which is the ship’s food c as well as gunbag the Korean barbecue restaurant and deck 15 is also home to the ship’s

Pools next to it of which is the gym split into a cardio section and weight section there’s also a small Sports Court and right to the back is the aquatics club with some hot tubs a bar and space to chill in the Sun and even a

Caton net just don’t look down you’d be scared of height With so after boarding the ship in Barcelona late afternoon and having a quick look around I headed up to the pool to catch the last of the Sun for the day and also check out the sailway Party it was actually pretty good and the free champagne and PCO helped too a sale way ago this was actually a really good atmosphere with everybody in good Spirits that evening I went for dinner in pink agave and the the food here was delicious myself and the friends I traveled with got a selection of food to share all of which was very tasty and really great quality afterwards we went to grab a drink but soon as I’d been awake since

2:00 a.m. to catch a very early flight from the UK I was very tired and had to head to bed the next day though the ship entered its first Port of Call Of The Voyage good morning okay so today is the first fall day of cruise and today we are in tulon in the south so I’m going to go check out the see what it’s like see what it has to offer so let’s go and take a Look ton in sou of France famous for well not much but it does have a large friend Neal base the Oldtown has a number of bars too as well as cafes to chill out in so it’s okay for an hour or two to stroll Around so this is tulon in France it’s okay there’s not lows to see um it’s also a Monday so quite a few places are closed to but yeah um it’s okay for a bit but personally I don’t think there lows to do see so I think we’re going to head

Back to the ship and chill out there for a bit back on board I went to check out more of the ship and went to the dock house at the back of deck 7 the food here was amazing they serve some small plates but you can order as many as you

Like they have some tasty prawns chicken fries and Horus to name a few then it was time for a few cocktails and chilling out in the sun by the pool Hypno Byel hello good evening okay so um being to ton today which to be honest with you I thought wasn’t amazing it’s kind of like a little town not a low to see to be fair with you so even more is not my favorite place in the south of France to

Visit so tonight we’re going to go check out some of the entertainment aboard the ship now it’s meant to be different virgin as everybody keeps talking about but I want to see for myself what it’s really like and if it is any different so tonight we got tickets to the

Misbehave show so going to go and see what that’s like um and yeah you can come with me and you can get feel for it too uh and then later on this evening going to go and get some food in the Italian restaurant on board which is

Called extra virgin so let’s go and get some food but first of all let’s go and get a drink maybe and then we’re going and see the show so let’s go so the evening started with a few drinks in on the Rocks before heading to the Red Room for some of virgin’s

Entertainment the misbehave show was very funny it was definitely different for what I’ve seen on other cruise ships but it was great crazy comedy and audience participation but in a good way it was actually really good fun next up on the agenda for the evening was extra virgin the ship’s Italian restaurants I

Couldn’t fa the food it was delicious we went for an anti pasty sharing board the St a selection of mains which we shared too as well as some pasta the food was delicious and and very filling hello okay so I’ve just got back from a night out and it’s been a really

Really great night out it’s been very very funny really really good uh went to the misbehave show um which was fantastic would highly recommend it if you’re on board virgin voyages at any point go to misbehave show because it is really really funny the entertainers who

Are doing it are fantastic the show is great audience participation but in a good way you don’t have to go up on stage unless you really want to a lot of it is just done from your seats and it’s just shouting but it’s really really funny so yeah definitely recommend it if

You board the ships at any point um and then went to Extra Virgin for some Italian food which was delicious again so far the food on board the ship has been amazing too so yeah I’m stuffed though tonight and a bit tired too so I’m going to get some sleep um I’m going

To hit the hay and tomorrow is a really really big day really busy day too cuz we’re off to Chinko in Italy so we’re going to go and see all the villages on the the kind of Trail so I’m going to get some sleep and catch you guys in the morning good night

The next day I woke up rather early and went to the gym for a quick session I was impressed by the gym on board as it’s fairly well equipped with a good amount of Kit and here I am looking pretty tired okay so the workout is done gym is

Actually pretty good quite a big size so you got one section which is cardio and one section which is weight was really good so feel right weight today now and we only spec here today which is here so we’re going to go and have a day

Check out Chino which is a set of villagers on the coast so that should be pretty good anyway I’m going to go and get some coffee and some breakfast and have a shower so catch you guys in a bit so after some food a shower and a

Coffee it was time to head out for the day we were docked in Las spatia which is a fairly pretty Italian town but I headed straight to the train station not because I didn’t like Las spatia but I had plans to see the famous Tera which is a series of villages on the

Nearby Coast you can walk between all five and many do although this does take a few days therefore I bought a special day pass which allowed me to jump on and off off the local train service connecting each of the villages whenever I wanted to perfect if you’re only here

For the day just head to the special tiet office in the station and buy your ticket which costs around €8 per person our plan was to head to the furest Village from laspia and work our way back so our first stop was montosa this small village is very nice and even

Has a good beach if you want to go for a swim so this is the first stop on the chinka trail of villages this is montosa and it’s actually pretty cool nice place bit busy a lot of people here to be fair but yeah and the sun has just come out too

So look at that that’s pretty cool and after a look around the village it was time to hop back on the train and head down the line as we only had a day we decided to aim to see three villages and spend a short time in

Each next up was veneza again a pretty little village but this time with a beautiful Harbor So bazza if I think is how you pronounce it is ridiculously busy it’s a nice place nice view nice little Harbor but it is very very busy so we’re back at the station and we’re going to jump on the terrain and go a bit further down

The coast back towards the spia just to maybe get somewh bit fighter just bear that in mind if you are going to come to uh on the cha trail that it is quite busy and today is a random Tuesday in October our third Village of the day was Manola again another pretty little

Village it was now after lunch and it did seem a little bit quieter so we went to look at the amazing views of the Town then we grow a quick bite to eat and check out this tasty tuna salad and as I was in Italy I had to pair it with an Appo Spritz of course hello so back from laspia and the um jinka walk which was it was good I’m honest with you I think

If you’re going to go and do it just um be wored that it’s really really busy but is the villages are nice but they are a little bit similar so if you’ve seen them one then personally there’s not an awful lot lot of difference between each of them but they are nice

Don’t get me wrong they very very nice but yeah if you’re going to go do it I would recommend maybe just to kind of stick to maybe three villages at the most especially if you’re going to do it by train which is quite a good way to do

It um maybe two or three yeah I wouldn’t do it anymore I would certainly wouldn’t try and do all five in one day cuz that’s a lot of traveling and because it’s so busy it can be quite tiring too but it is pretty good uh they are very

Nice beautiful places the views are are fantastic but yeah just bear in mind that it might get a little bit busy um as we’re saying this is October uh a random Tuesday and it was pretty pack so if you come you know here and say July

Or August and peak season I imagine that would be very very busy so just maybe be worth that if you’re coming to Let’s back to you um anyway I’m going to go chill out for a bit and then tonight I’m going to have a few drinks because

Tomorrow is a SE day and I don’t need to be up early we’ve got nothing to go and see so I’m going to go out tonight explore a bit more of the ship and have uh hopefully have some drinks and a good time so let me get ready and I’ll catch

You guys in a bit so tonight I did a bit of a bar crawl starting off in the Draft House followed by the Loose Cannon and then to On the Rocks things then escalated to the Mana where they had a rock band performing which was pretty good and we had a few shots

Too but we did have B on the rocks for a DJ playing some good tunes and also a few cheesy ones too much more our style and like all good drinking sessions on land we ended that evening grabbing a pizza the pizza place on board is great open till 2: a.m. so

Perfect if you’ve been out and about and need some food before bed delicious pizzas and top service too would recommend hello good morning okay so today is a c day which means that we’re at se all day um a c day is a perfect opportunity just to kind of check out

The ship have a chill out day and just take it easy which is what I plan to do uh the weather is beautiful today you really really kind of calm see so it’s going to be smooth new selling all day but I’m going to go and check out a bit

More of what the Valiant lady has to offer but also find a bit of time just to chill out so let’s have an easy Day my Cay started with brunon razzled dazle the vegetarian restaurant on board but don’t worry if you aren’t a veggie they do have some meat and fish options too I started with avocado and toast follow by a salmon poke bow and to finish rainbow churos all three were

Great the rest of the afternoon we spent chilling on board and I laid on deck for a bit to catch some sun had a bit of time in the pool and then chilled out in my cabin and checked out the hammock on the balcony these things are a bit of a

Gimmick but they are seriously comfortable and perfect to relax in and just take in those SE Views okay so today is a c day which means that I’m not all day but it’s a great opportunity to kind of check out the ship and CH out which I’ve been doing but it’s also a good chance to kind of catch up and just kind of let

You know my thoughts on Virgin and what I think the like so far so even though virgin are meant to be very very different to be honest with you I don’t find them too dissimilar to any of the cruise line so it doesn’t feel like I’m on a radical Cruise personally to me

It’s still great it’s really really good but I don’t think it’s anything kind of drastically different so one thing which virgin have been doing is to kind of um promote these cruises to kind of younger Market uh and on board to be honest with you yes there’s definitely

Some maybe a few more younger people on there and say kind of standard cruise but you know honestly there’s mixed ages here completely so if you are kind of older think about coming to a virsion voyages you will not be out of place whatsoever uh and vice versa if you

Thinking if you maybe say in your early 20s and you think it’s going to be a pure partnership full of young people it really isn’t it’s definitely a mixed kind of bag but one thing I would say is everybody just seems to be kind of up

For a laugh and a joke and everybody’s quite chatty and kind of you know welcoming but so far the cruise has been nice it’s been good it’s not been exactly what I thought it was going to be it’s not a party it’s it’s good

If you want to laugh if you want to have a few drinks you want to kind of party you can do but that’s the same as any other cruise line so I don’t think it’s anything different just being on Virgin yeah but so far virgin have been pretty

Good uh and ke to see what happens for the rest of the cruise that evening though things livened up as we’re heading to gumbai the Korean barbecue restaurant this place was fantastic it’s meant to be a social experience and they start off with a drinking game to kind of break

The ice as you could be sitting with people who you don’t know but it is fun you then get a selection of food cooked at your table there’s lots to choose from and it was all very nice and tasty really really good Place afterwards we went to check out one of the shows which was called dual reality this was an acrobatic modern d kind of show it wasn’t really my thing but all the dancers were very talented and did do some amazing Acrobatics the night continued with some cocktails before heading to yet again the man of night club for some more drinks and a bit of a dance one thing to add though is the bar service to me was pretty hit and miss on board the ship sometimes you got great service but on a

Few occasions service was very slow and even when waiting at bar it could take quite a while to be acknowledged by the bar staff and servers I think think virgin could add a few more staff at certain venues just to improve the service okay so that was quite a good

Night out tonight quite funny bit messy but yeah it’s good I’m pretty tired though now so let’s go to bed and let’s go to Cora Tomorrow hello good morning so today is a new day and a new destination and today we are in Corsica and more precisely we are in is jaio or jaio in France so we’re going to go take a look around the town St has to offer it looks

Quite nice and it might even be a beach too so let’s go and take a Look welcome to Corsica the stunning French island and today we’re adopting a jaio the Island’s capital the center of which is a beautiful place to check out with a wide array of bars and restaurants there’s also plenty of shops here too one of the best things though

About a Jacko is that not only do you get a buzzing town to wonder about out but it also has a fantastic Beach the water here is beautiful blue so if you want to cool down on a hot day and relax it’s the perfect spot to do so I spent a

Few hours wondering around the town and even managed to get a red t-shirt for skar at night which was happening later that Evening but soon after I headed to the beach as the water was too inviting to say no to and it would have been rude not to go for a quick dip So this is the beach in Jacko it’s actually really cool so yeah you’ve got a little town and you’ve got a beach here the beach is really really cool look at this pretty cool yes you want to come and relax then yeah perfect so after a little bit of chill

Time at the beach it was back to the ship TOS our departure from a jaio with some stunning [Applause] Views So that evening was Scarlet night now most cruise ships have a party night of some sort and virgin are no exception but here the lights are turned down red with everyone encouraged to wear a bit of that color themselves and an exciting evening begins with random pop-up acts

Throughout the ship or climaxing in a huge pool party on the top deck I wasn’t sure what to expect from scull at night but I had a fantastic time everybody on board seemed to be up for it young and old and the atmosphere was really really Electric we do end the pill party around 11:00 I think it was and then it’s all down to the Mana for anybody wanting to continue the night this included us obviously the next day we had the morning afternoon at se before we arrived into our last Port of Call of

The trip but first let me give you a quick tour of my cabin to give you an idea of what the accommodation is like on board okay so I’m going to give you a little cabin tour of my cabin to give you an idea of what it’s like on board

The valant lady so you can see what the accommodation is like um but every virgin Voyer ship is the same so this is pretty much what any ship you could go on would be like um so yeah let’s get started so this is a balcony cabin um so

Obviously I have a balcony which I’ll show you first um but this is the bed which is actually really really comfortable you get a little bedside table too and you get a TV now the bed you can take turn into a couch sofa if you want to um just ask your cabet stuid

But it’s really really comfortable uh and yeah it’s been great for a week so far you also get a nice chair to sit on uh you get a ful length mirror here you go there’s me hello um and then you also get over here a nice desk stroke vanity

Unit which is really good and a lamp too and then you’ve also got some controls there for the bedroom and then down here you’ve got some water which you get each stay in your cabin and you’ve also got your little mini fridge which is good and there’s plenty of room in there for

Some drinks too which is really handy in terms of the shower room look this is in here it’s a great size you got toilet obviously sink and you got a shower with a door um and yeah it’s not massive but it’s good enough and it’s

Been fine for a week two so that’s very nicely appointed and then you’ve also got some storage here so you’ve got a wardrobe um where you can hang up some clothes too and you’ve also got um some drawers as well let me show you the

Balcony as well you get two chairs and a table and you also get the um Infamous virgin Voyer hammock which is pretty cool so this is being a great cabin for a week it’s been fantastic it’s been really comfortable the decco is nice the Ambiance is great and you can even

Change the kind of lighting system too if you want to but yeah good size cabin and I think if you’re here for a week or even two weeks cabins and B the vant lady are really really good [Applause] So after another day chilling at se which after skull at night was very much welcomed we soon approached the beautiful island of AA I watched our approach from the duck house which had some stunning views of a beea harbor and its Castle we were aded in a beef overnight but before we headed out for some drinks it was time to have dinner in the Wake the wake is a beautiful stay Can See For Your restaurant on board the ship with a wide selection on offer and after an

Amazing dinner it was time to head out into a Bea town to grab a few drinks I really like the fact that virgin stay overnight in Port it brings a new element to the cruise and allows you to see one destination in the evening rather than only for a few hours during the

Day So it is the final day unfortunately but we have one more destination left Welcome to our Beef the next morning it was back to a beefa town to take a look around during the day the town is a really nice place with lots of streets to wander around many cool bars and restaurants and even its own castle be sure to head up here

To the top for some incredible views over the island although it is a little bit of a Climb So this is atha town on the island of AA obviously I’ve been to AB for twice but i’ never been to the um main town here but it’s actually a really really cool place loads of little streets which beautiful lots of little um kind of

Cafes and shops Etc uh and yeah if you can climb all the up to the top of the castle which is pretty timing in the heat you’re in for some incredible views so yeah a the toan if you’re here on a cruise definitely come and check it out it’s Good so it was my final night on board vant lady but the void wasn’t over just yet dinner was back where it all started on the first night pink of gar again some delicious food was had next up we headed to the Red Room for some entertainment virgin style and

To catch the Untitled Dan show party Thing now I can’t dance and I’m not really into dancing but I had a great time it was cool the way the stage is set up and the dancers have some incredible moves a very different type of entertainment compared to what I’d seen it see but yeah I loved It afterward we went for a few final drinks in on the Rocks watching a live band which again was great too it was a top evening and a nice way to end an amazing Cruise okay so we leave tomorrow morning it’s now in the morning and a few of us have to pack good last night yeah a little bit just a little Bit so the next day was time to theart but what are my final thoughts on the cruise and virgin voyages well I must say I was pretty impressed by virgin the Valiant lady was a beautiful ship which felt quite intimate compared to some larger ships out there today I honestly had an

Amazing time from excellent food great facilities on board and a really nice set of passengers I wasn’t sure what it would be like and expected it to be a bit of a party ship with lots of loud obnoxious people with lots of force fun from the crew but in reality it really

Wasn’t I actually found it to be pretty chilled and laidback but in a good way yes you can party if you wanted to and Scarlet Knight was great fun but it didn’t feel any more of a party ship than some other Cruise Lines which have been on yes there was lots of lively

Entertainment on board such as dance classes Party nights and karaoke but there was also loads of more relax stuff too like yoga classes there was acoustic singers and violinist there were arts and craft sessions too I even saw a jigsaw session with lots of people taken

Part many of who were in their 20s in my view they C for a wide range of people I do think there was definitely a fun atmosphere on board and the passengers all seed up for a good time and a laugh and a joke it also felt really inclusive

Which was great a nice mixture of people from different countries backgrounds and lots of different ages with an inclusive atmosphere throughout the trip like anything there was a few issues like some of the bar staff could have given better service and I think they need some more staff in certain venues on

Occasion but nothing serious overall though the crew were amazing with some friendly people giving a high level of service i’ love for Virgin to offer some more itineries and mixing with bit with some new destinations especially in Europe but I had a fantastic time and would love to try virgin again anyway I
