After the British bombed Hamburg, this is what remains | Public Transport | Germany | Part 3
[Applause] What’s up guys welcome back to a bright it’s not sunny but it’s very bright very bright because it’s all snowy snowy everywhere and it’s still snowing uh so the last video you saw we ended up when it was snowing and it’s still it’s not that heavy snow uh but
And it hasn’t fallen a lot I think yesterday night um but still it’s snowing yeah so today’s plan is to go to a few couple of places and for today we have taken the group ticket which is valid for up to 5 persons uh the Normal public transport group ticket yes there
Is something called the Hamburg card here yeah so if you’re planning to visit all the museums and the fairy the what you say uh fer ride off yeah yeah the fairies and all then that Hamburg card is good but in our case like we are not planning
For that because this canal tools and all we have seen a lot and now it’s very cold so I’m not preparing the canal to right now yes and museums we are not a museum kind of persons so we are not doing that but we might visit the uh what you call Min
Minature Museum we get we might visit there but I heard it’s it’s it’s good for kids but I don’t know and we are always kids yeah and uh so that’s the plan for today so if you’re visiting if you’re planning to visit everything then the hamburger card is good if not then
The Normal public transport group ticket is good for 12 two of you or a group of five right yes can travel yeah minimum two and maximum five people can travel on all means of public transport and from Monday to Friday you have certain hours that are valid for so it’s valid
From 900 a.m. uh for 9 hours until 6:00 p.m. and then the next morning from uh 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. so that’s how it is valid but on Saturdays and Sundays it’s it’s it’s all day yeah so that’s one benefit that we are having today
Because uh it’s a Saturday and um yeah so that’s the group ticket it cost € 1246 you can download this app app called hvv uh which is the hamburg’s uh public transports official app uh just register yourself yeah look at this it’s all white white look at all
Those cars people who are in Europe they know how to lay yourself during these kind of weather and people who are not from Europe and planning to come here please do layer yourself only then you can enjoy all these climate and snow and stuff else your hand hands will be
Freezing your legs will be freezing so layer them properly yes and enjoy the weather yes yeah so that was the uh intro for today so we’ll show you the places as we go Enjoy A Including so we just got down at this station called bom wall bomb wall and and look at this view you have the beautiful Harper yeah you can see the Harper and the a building yes and this U and this u3 uh runs on an elevated track after
Roading marked so after R house it it comes above the ground yeah this and almost all the important places yeah oh look at I think that’s the church St Michael’s Church let’s see let’s see yeah beautiful place look at this so nice those who want to take the fairy
Tour you have to come here in this Harper and you can choose your fairy tours there is one for evening the illumination one and one for the normal daytime so you can choose them and they have different price range and then you can start from here yeah so we are on
Our way to s Michael’s Church St Michael’s Church that’s our first point and from there we’ll go on and more about the church once we are there uh so so once you get down from this uh uh station uh called bomb wall you can see
That train going there uh you have a way that goes straight uh through these buildings it’s like a small bridge and I think it’s a very big company called RPL deutchland yeah it’s there campus so this this way leads you straight to St Michael’s Church what you see here is St Michael’s Church it’s a barok style Lutheran Church uh and it’s known for this 132 M tall Spire that is covered in Copper so any place you go when you see this uh green Green Tinted uh stuff you can see so
That’s all copper it’s because of the reaction of copper with the oxygen in the atmosphere that it gives this green color yeah and this church is known for uh the views that it can provide from the top of the tower so let’s uh try if
We can get into the church and have some good views of the city although it’s all white everywhere I think that will be a different thing to see that’s Viking bus that’s coming from Denmark super let’s go that’s the front side of this church guys isn’t it beautiful look at that
Green copper structure in the front oxidized copper yeah so you can see there’s a small ring on his head so it’s like an angel yeah that’s the angel defeating the will yeah or some kind of dragon but is quite Monumental so this Tower is 132 M tall and now let’s see when
We let’s get in let’s go so there’s a Christmas Market within the church yeah let’s go and see without anything we are yes so apparently there’s a queue to go to the Christmas Market that’s downstairs and we and there’s a ticket for the tower yeah so once we see the Christmas Market
We’ll see about the tower so until 1906 uh when there was a fire in this church this these were the uh hour and and minute hand of the uh clock on the Tower so this is the the Christmas Market the Bottom don’t know what’s down beneath oh and that was the fire 1906 Okay o look like it completely fell off so those who want to read just pause the video and read it here the beginning the first grade M Church Second elect Michael Christmas Market number six yeah we just came outside the St Michael’s Church after visiting Chas market number seven number seven yeah there was one inside uh uh the church and this one’s just outside the church and we again bought schar’s cooken yeah yeah super Majestic building now we are to a different Landmark uh we’ll let you know more about it once we there so guys this here is the St Nikolai Memorial there’s lot of Bal trees here so the view is not very clear but you can see how big it is how tall it Is wow hey this one looks like uh there’s this big church in Barcelona okay it is still under construction you know yes beautiful so there’s a good Courtyard in front of this uh Memorial yeah and from here you can get a very good view of the memorial look at
This so the entrance to this star cost € so we’ll just go around the building and see how it looks so talking about this building this is actually a memorial of an old ruined Church yeah which was bombed and destroyed during operation Gomora so it was it was done by the British Allied
Forces British and us they together bombed the city of Hamburg and they destroyed the complete city and what was destroyed uh I mean this was part of what was destroyed during the bombing and it happened in 1943 and this was the tower uh only only thing that was left of this
Church and the rest of it is in Ruins so if you see if you go ahead to the front you can see that uh the remaining uh parts of the church are here yeah yeah yeah a big church wow and there’s a milon beneath this yes there’s a cryp museum and uh yeah
Beautiful just you can see how it was destroyed yeah you can see the remainings the remnants of the church there the brick wall some of it might have been reconstructed a little bit like I can see that that part was reconstructed a little bit theyve yeah
But you can you can feel that uh nature of the bombing and everything from this black color From the Ashes and all yeah wow take price so we got the ticket and the ticket price is €66 EUR yeah yeah 6 uh and it’s been 80 years since operation Gamora yeah Gora operation Gora
Yeah yeah so this ticket is combined for both the T you can see the belts and the museum yeah I think it’s 76 M high this yeah look the elevator shows how many how much High it goes it’s coming down I think we can get a good City View From
Here yes let’s hope so that’s a small little Room 33 M oh Halfway that’s how it looked when the city was bombed and Burnt you can see yeah what can you see from here yeah looks so small but it’s a build yeah th the remains H yeah that’s the remains of the church that’s the radus at that R house yes yeah lot of Christmas markets yeah yeah it’s just on the other
Side of the r house that we can’t see in this video now yeah this is how how it looks in the daytime they have in the middle of yeah that’s what we saw yesterday that was lit yeah beautiful this was how the church looked before and All That Remains is just this tall Spire m
