Zugspitze Day Trip – Highest Mountain in Germany

The Zugspitze at 2,962 m or 9,718 feet above sea level. It is the highest peak of the Wetterstein Mountains and the highest mountain in Germany.
It lies south of the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bavaria, and the Austria–Germany border.
Once on top of Zugspitze, you are straddling the border between Austria and Germany.
Each country has a terrace, complete with museums and restaurants, connected by a narrow walkway.

We started our trip from Weilheim In Upper Bavaria and travel till Garmisch Partenkirchen. Garmisch Partenkirchen is also a beautiful city and tourist place.
From Garmisch Partenkirchen we took another train Zugspitzbahn – a special train to the Zugspitze. It was quite steep route and mountains can be seen easily.
From Zugspitze you have to take cable car to reach at the highest point of Zugspitze or highest point of Germany.
Igludorf is another point of interest consists of a cheese fondue, a guided nighttime hike in the snow, a stay in the whirlpool and sauna, and breakfast in the mountain restaurant.
Wind and weather could be harsh here specially in winter, so be prepared with proper winter clothing’s.
If you are found of winter sports, there are lot of options available.
There are couple of restaurant available where you may enjoy your meal.
You may also to come down from Zugspitze to Eibsee.
