And you cannot remember even more yeah that’s true so what if we actually make a song that about the the kings and queens of Netherlands wow okay cool that’s uh yeah okay uh so you made a song about it just a little song yeah just just a little song so basically we

Know that Queen William of Orange so that King who was the man of who was Man of words and he was really silent yeah we also know that fortunately he was killed yeah and oh wait wait wait we have them over here that’s why I was taking you

Palace uh Royal Palace at low at low so ATL in in in English but at low that’s how we say it in the Netherlands we’re little on the eastern part of the country um and we are going through the palace that was uh designed in the end

Uh by William and Mary one of these William William William William William and Mary oh we we missed Mary we miss we miss Mary don’t count who okay okay we need we need a new version of this song where we add Mary because she was not just uh she was not

Just the queen she was a very powerful full person and we’re also going to see that in the coming in the coming tour trip so um that is that that’s what we’re going to do so we’re going to work on a second version of this song and

Also going to show you going to show you the palace we are by the way this Palace is very recently completely restored and also reopened so we’re now under the main building and they have uh yeah they have a very interesting art installation over here so let’s uh uh let’s show you

That ready yeah we we’ll do the musical version It’s a good one didn’t know that I was going to watch you going to watch your musical no there is there is some art over here in the in the middle part and uh yeah it is just uh festivities for the opening of

The new Royal Palace and whoa whoa who do we have is is that is that William or William which William William that’s is this the second the third I don’t know I think it’s one who loved chasing skirts chasing skirts so yeah and there’s there’s there there

There’s a lot more there’s a lot more while we’re oh over here I think we found uh we found a piece of uh Mary or or is it Mary or oh look at that that can also be Willam minia willia so some there were some of the kings and queens that lived over

Here because the palace that we’re going to visit is the place are going over this Central Square uh Central stairs going up from down going up and then uh going through the palace where 10 generations of Royals have been living nowadays it’s a museum since I think I

Think 1984 it was donated by Queen be connection retry now it’s gone oh there it is again reconnected yeah we sometimes have we are using the wifi we’re using the Wi-Fi because that is better than the connection because it’s partly under so but it can be gone

Sometimes so uh but here we have the beautiful gardens that we did before in a tour and you may be if some of you did the tour before then we ended in front of some beautiful doors and we’re now at the other side it’s so nice to be behind

These doors now doors where it is dry and warm you mean yeah exactly but we see again and maybe we should tell this again because we have these beautiful golden doors and it’s beautiful work and what do we have over here in the middle orange trees of course orange trees and

Where’s that orange tree coming from the Royal House Royal House exactly from the Dutch Royal house uh and the Dutch Royal House by the way started already before this Palace was even there with William of Orange William of Orange or William the silent also sometimes called

Um and why was he called William of Orange and that was just his surname and his surname is related to the city of orang in France so and what you have with these Royals that’s not only in the Netherlands it’s all over Europe they all have ties to each other so and uh

William of orans had some ties with some houses in France so that’s where this is coming from okay so we’re going inside it is it is of course it is a rainy day so you will see some more people here and there because it’s also still school holidays so

Um and yeah then we’re coming here in the central at the other side we have the other door so they had two doors one door that was going directly into the gardens and another another door that was the central entrance that is what we’re standing over here in front and we

See already there’s a beautiful blue light so at the end of this tour if you have some time then we can maybe go outside a little and then we can see how beautiful lights there are uh outside because they have a sort of a no it’s not a light festival but some beautiful

Elimination and we’re going to do one of the Wings and that is the Eastern Wing or the rout oast and that is where we tell a little more about William and Mary yep because what happened what happened by the way welcome everyone that is that is just joining we’re going now inside

We’re going room by room and we’re first coming which I think it’s maybe good to tell a little more about the history first about this Mary and William before we start uh we have two of their statues over there uh but we have to go back to the 17th century William where we’re

Talking about is for the Dutch it is William III yeah so William III of course the son of William II uh if I’m right with that song of you now the son of of of of William II and um he as a young boy already uh it was decided for him

Because that’s what how it went in these times that he was marrying with Mary and who was Mary Mary was daughter of King James II of England James James the second she was married the second queen of daughter of King James II yes sure yeah okay so let’s go go a little

Further because then we can see some of their statues so um no so Mary Mary the Mary Stewart the uh daughter the daughter of James II and of course in these times it was normal that these Royals were all marrying each other so and that also happened uh

Happened at that time but they were still quite Young when they were married so not like nowadays that you’re age no they were still kids when they were marrying and we will see that later uh and a little later in life um the um sorry they decided that they wanted

To build a palace and uh we’re now going from room to room and to be honest the room over here this is one of their dining rooms the first dining room the old dining room the old dining room so a lot of people are coming over here uh

Friends but also other Royals to dine with William to dine with William and Mary and that happened that happened for a long time but it was only the old one with like beautiful uh tapestries yeah exactly tapestry yeah it is tapestry as if we’re outside isn’t it it is as if we are

Outside and we have the woods around us it’s really really beautiful but this was only the old one yeah there’s more there’s a lot more there’s a lot more more so we will go from room to room and let’s see and I see that some of you are

Already sharing some more details about the Royals of that time okay what do we have over here the second room yeah the new dining room the new dining room so you have to imagine that um when they got this area over here first they bought a little

Castle called at AO the old L old old L um and including the estate around and then they asked some Architects to design a palace for them but that Palace was of course not ready immediately so bit by bit The Palace became bigger and bigger and what we see over here what we

See over here is the new dining room um where the Royals were dining were eating and to be honest there is an interesting tradition that was to be honest new for me is that uh in these times it was for a lot of people normal that you were uh

Of course not for normal people but for Aristocrats was normal that you were going to watch the king or the king and the queen or the royal family when they were eating of course with with Louie and Mar and tunet it was exactly the case so everybody all the courtiers

Everybody invited for the dinners oh sorry Place uh had to first of all wait before Louis the 16th and Mar Anette would finish their dinner before they could eat themselves yeah before they would eat wow yeah wow so this is something they picked up from the

French one more thing that they pick one more thing and that’s not the only thing by the way that they picked up from the French because also the design over here of this uh uh from this uh whole room is designed by a French architect mhm a French architect that they knew that

They asked a Protestant Architect by the way that was quite unique in France there were not a lot of Protestants uh but he was asked to design several parts of also the in not only the outside but also the inside of the of the of the palace is that the Danielle Moro yes

Exactly so who did a lot of things for for the French residences of course and then again imagine that you were coming here and that in the middle of the room you have the King sitting eating sometimes with the rest of the royal family and then around you you have these beautiful

Tapestries and then of course what were they eating can we see anything from what they’re eating oh no I think they’re not ready yet not ready it’s still a little early but I heard one of the things that I heard that um that William really loved to eat a

Peas he was really a fan of peace I don’t know how good they were in these times interesting interesting but of course there was there was a lot more and normally the king himself was sitting over there in the middle on a little different chair from we don’t have that

Chair right now in front and then behind him that that was where the fire was so he was the central person sitting over here Merry next to him uh and then less important people yeah and it was totally fine for them to eat first because if a

King has a good appetite it means he’s healthy if a king is healthy then the whole country has future so has life and he’s strong so that’s that’s the thing so everybody everything in all the ceremonial they had some meaning they had some agenda so this was once again

Asserting the power and proving that they were really good and strong and had the country had everything under their control yeah yeah and imagine so it’s a basically we’re standing here now we cannot go over this line but it’s a little the same as it was

In these times so just other people were just standing over here watching how they were eating I think they probably would be stand yeah also on the side also on the S side yeah so there were a lot of people every day looking how the king and the queen were

Eating and then over here eating from these yeah they were also eating from this kind of silverware some sometimes combinations with Delware it is a little dark at this moment but uh yeah thank you for some extra love thank you so much some extra light so you can have a

Feeling from what they had on their table this is amazing and is this a giant refrigerator for the drinks I think so yeah I think so I think so so I the Roman ofs actually commissioned a huge uh basing like that made from Granite oh marble no marble of course

And then it was too expensive that they actually couldn’t buy it okay yeah and then yeah how was that going then these Royals are sitting over here and then here at the side we see this hallway with some uh some stairs this is where uh the stuff was bringing

The food so of course they always needed to have the best food so the staff had another entrance uh they were using the sideways to bring all the food uh and everything to these room and we’re now almost the only ones over here it’s always interesting end of the day and

Then it’s getting calm yeah so okay and I assumed there were no really kitchens in the palace so it was probably brought from from another building okay we’re going to take the stairs now we have some beautiful sounds made by kids we see already the blue light that is

From outside oh it’s going to be lovely in the end yeah that will be later I think really lovely and then what we have over here let’s come inside then we can see it a little better we are in the chapel we are in the chapel and of

Course we were saying that already before that the Royals over here they were not Catholic so no no no no no so this is a Protestant Chapel because um the the the Dutch Royals they were Protestant already and Mary she was originally from the English church yeah

She was Anglican but I think it’s pretty similar to protestantism yeah so exactly exactly sorry so they were Protestants and that was a big predicament for Mary herself because her father who was originally Anglican James II converted to Catholicism well and that was a problem because he was raising his son

Who would inherit the throne in a Catholic way and that would mean that the power of protestant Netherlands was basically dwindling yeah and that was a big issue so eventually Queen Mary and well Mary and William they arranged cool yeah C to Dethrone James

II and uh he was forced to flee and yes it was exactly the daughter who had to Dethrone her father yeah yeah it’s it’s a bit weird it’s not really easy yeah not really easy to just imagine things like that so but that’s what happened

And then so of course this is it is uh we we basically William and Mary got an army uh we’re sailing over the nor sea sailing back uh for Mary sailing back uh to in the end to take over first London and later England so it’s really

Interesting uh that there was a Dutch king that’s for us always interesting because the English are sometimes saying we were never captured and the Romans didn’t capture us uh the Nazis didn’t capture us but only William William III our William III he was the one who captured uh we captured England in a

Peaceful way yeah that’s true in a little more peaceful way that’s true that’s true but yeah okay let’s get some more we’re going through small hallways we have the blue lights outside is a we can do a ghost tour here next time Anna oh yeah for sure look at this

Oh this is creepy yeah I know okay let’s go are we the only ones here I think so yeah most people are already gone okay we’re going the haunted house experience yeah a little like that haunted Palace haunted Palace even better in the house okay we’re going to the left

Here coming into another amazing room oh yeah that’s my favorite I think okay what what do you know about this room what can you tell about this room oh this was supposed to be the porcelain cabinet of Mary okay there we it exhibit the ction

Of porcelain okay I don’t see a lot of porcelain because it didn’t happen okay yeah and what can actually give you a hint of what originally was supposed to be is the ceiling oh wow the glass ceiling we can come a little bit forward it’s a it’s like a enormous mirror oh yeah

Wow that’s and why do did they have these mirrors on the on the ceiling just to give you theit theit better view on the porcelain collection okay but that didn’t happen and after Mary’s death surprise surprise it’s not really a spoiler so it was turned into into a

Library library so William decided then to place all his books over here and he also knew that Mary herself was Aid reader she would read all the time and she was really really well wor and really well worst in all things wow and it’s also good to know that this kind of

These kind of mirrors was also sort of an optical illusion so you can imagine that because of these because of these uh uh mirrors that it looks over here a little bigger so we see I think there are thousands of books over here but because of the mirror it looks even like

It’s double the size so that was one of the tricks that they were using to let things look even bigger than they were already but we still see some peling there are some porel Ling uh is there standing already next to and look at this beautiful chair beautiful desk also

Think about that this can be your desk just gonna get a little more nearby so look at all the little details inside this Royal desk so imagine that William over here after Mary’s dad he was deciding things about the Netherlands about England about about Ireland about Scotland

Everything and yeah there are real books there are real books yeah is a little wait I’m just going to show you a little more nearby there’s some interesting black part on the top but all of these are real books and these are even historical books so several historical books okaying it

Back okay where are we going now it looks like we are in a picture gallery yeah yeah that was one of these things these royal families and not only the Dutch Royals but royal families from all over Europe they wanted to impress each other and one of the things to impress

Was by uh showing how rich they were by buying art oh yeah so and both William and Mary were really into art so they um uh they they uh they really found uh uh they collected a lot of works and some of these Works can be found over here

Not all of them by the way by the way there’s also part of the palace that is not even open for the public M but yeah we see a lot of uh things showing how rich they were and whenever you see the paintings that has a lot of pink and red

These were very very expensive pigments so you would know this is probably one of the most expensive pieces in the collection and you see that so and everybody knew knew that back then of course and there were also several portraits so for example over here we

Have let’s go a little further so we are out of the reflection life so here we have William himself already a little older you can see the beautiful Royal robe that he’s wearing oh the yeah also also and I said already before that when they were um when they were marrying

They were still quite young and next to this painting there is a painting of the marriage on the day of marriage of uh William and Mary and look at that look how they’re looking you can see that there are rings there’s a if you look at

The hands of Mary you can see there’s a ring and both of them yeah still kids but that’s how it was going these times so if it was real love we never know although we know that at least from the S side of uh William that he uh he did a

Lot for Mary yeah which what meant to be a marriage of convenience it turned out to be a pretty strong bond between the two people and also art collecting was one of the shared interests they were quite different yeah so but they found something that would actually bring them

Closer to each other yeah and of course look we have this of course there oranges everywhere orange trees is the sign of the Dutch Royals again so no wonder orange is the official color so to speak of the Netherlands yeah and Robert is saying this is looking a

Little like the hallway in my house okay Robert good for you can we can we do a tour in your hallway next time sure go ahead sorry yeah also look at these chandeliers I assume that’s rock crystal yeah it is for sure they are huge really

Huge so and of course there is a lot more on paintings on both sides just also showing with a lot of some things are were more historical other from uh from parts from the Bible but also things about showing how rich they were with fruits with all kind of other

Things that they were eating so and then so look at the tapestry again almost every room has a different color of tapestry oh yeah it’s probably the Hol to probably just cost as much as some of the artworks most probably oh and over here we have Mary

Again okay then in these times um Not only was it normal for people to go see the Royals eating it was also the time and we maybe know that from old stories and movies that you were bringing presents to the king or the queen and over here we have what looks like a

Bedroom for Mary but this was not the bedroom of Mary no this was the place where she was staying when people were coming there to bring her gifts yeah so then she was just staying on the bed sometimes sitting drinking some tea from her Delware that we can see on the table

And just waiting for other gifts that were given over here I’m not even sure whether she’s ever really she ever really sat on that just I don’t know had a nap on this bed probably not maybe not yeah because we later will see her her own bed and also look at the beautiful

She loved Delware she loved porcelain and there is here in the middle really a very big face very interesting shape of a face also and you can see that there are several flowers inside and she loved flowers also not only orange ones yeah that’s true and I think actually every

Day uh William would ask the servants to bring fresh flowers to her rooms this was also showing how much he loved her yeah of course and of course again a chandelier and you said already be you said also already before fun that she loved the the the Delware the the the porcelain

And she also had a little uh she had a big collection and everywhere in the palace you can see that and part of the collection was here at the back so of course this was the room where where her guests were coming giving her presents but also she sometimes just had to wait

And that why she was doing that in this little room at the back oh this is where they could she could definitely have some privacy because obviously she was surrounded with ladies and waiting and servants all the time exactly so here was it where she so

She could really um get on that uh get on that bed and then uh her servants were for example were for example waiting over here like this crazy teddy bear is now doing Oscar Oscar you’re going to be kicked out from here it’s not allowed Oscar it’s not allowed Oscar

So but you can imagine that she was sitting over here if we can go a little to the to the side and she sitting over here and you see here part of her collection of porcelain so some of the cups again and also there are several faces and from some of them

You can see like the one here in the middle that it was still from China so chinaware chinaware of course because at that moment the real porcelain was coming from China so what we see on the top that’s the Delware that is basically the cheap copy of what was made in China

Yeah so nowadays if we think about made in China we think sometimes about okay that’s copying things from European or from Western countries but in these days it was the other way around we were copy we were copying the Chinese if you want to know more about that then tomorrow we

Will have a um and doing uh going to show you a lot of Delware don’t miss that don’t miss that exactly and don’t forget that today we’re actually having one more tour so it’s going to in in how many hours from now I’m not sure some several hours from

Different colors so over here there is a red tip Stree another big chandelier hanging in the middle and this was one of the waiting rooms yeah the anti Chambers exactly so uh before people were giving gifts they had to stay over here waiting before it was

Their time so and uh speaking of waiting and expecting I see here also a lot of actually sad things these are the children’s toys um which is a very sad part of story because many of you know that Mary and William never had children and she had miscarriages one after another of

Course and the several yeah she had several miscarriages yes and it was it was a tragedy because it was just for one and only thing to produce hirs to the throne yeah exactly you always need and she actually thought after the third miscarriage Mary thought that she it was

The punishment for her for having to thrown her own father okay for betraying her dad yeah yeah okay let’s go a little because there are some more rooms that you want to see yes okay now we’re now we’re coming in a really this is one I think one of the

Most beautiful places that you can find because over here and we can see it already in the middle so this is the actual Mary’s bed Chambers this is Mary’s bed chamber and yeah this is also good to know that in these times uh that William and Mary they both had their own

Bedrooms so uh and the room that we were seeing before that was just for the gifts this was the bedroom of Mary and on another location we have the bedroom of William so they were not sharing a bedroom they had their own ones and not only a bedroom they also had several

Rooms connected to it because of course you’re a Royal or not and the entire Palace is actually split into two parts half of Mary and half of William just like in the garden yeah and uh actually this is also one of the things that was

From the French and when it gets to like you know the the bed Chambers where you would actually not be sleeping but you will be seeing guests and accepting presents it was all about actually showing every part every aspect of a life of a monic so and that’s why there

Would be official Chambers official bat Chambers and the actual bad Chambers where the guest would not be admitted to yeah so and what we see what we see over here by by the way is the Queen’s Garden so this was her own garden and we can see that because there’s a beautiful uh

Little hallway or perola or I don’t know the name again Harbor Harbor Arbor Arbor Arbor Arbor um where Mary and her friends or girlfriends could walk without getting into the sun to keep their skin pill Royal pill yeah exactly oh this is also a little little spooky over here

So in the dark so someone was Julie was asking no windows yet there are windows in the bedrooms but also because of the tapestry and all the paintings on the walls and on the ceiling it looks a little dark sometimes so we also have these extra rooms

So imagine that Mary was staying over here of course she had a lot of stuff that were staying in the rooms next to her and you can also see again a little part of her uh peline collection over here so here on the side we see just going to go a little more

Nearby and then of course there’s a tiny room here at the end we cannot completely go inside here is with a beautiful view over several of the several of the gardens uh so if she had a nice view and this was just a tiny room to have some

Tea I think we can show just a little bit around yeah that’s good yeah and there’s one more very expensive artwork look at how much red pigment is used there the red and blue the most expensive ones and of course more porcelain it’s literally on every corner

You see porcelain of course so she had a really B uh Robert is asking who tour is this Anna ston or Oscar Oscar I think oh Oscar of course Oscar’s Mastermind behind it look at the little details only the lock of the room over here and also look at the Royal sign

Over there we see there’s a w NN M from William and Mary that you can find just over here in the lock just seeing it so these are the little details okay I’m just going this way there’s one more room to see over there one more room and then we have to walk

Back we have a little more space here yeah another little room for the stuff but again look how beautiful it is so I like that holstery it looks like it has a golden thread in it yeah it is yeah most probably yes I think it has

Yeah if I’m going nearby it looks like it has it’s almost like Silk wallpaper yeah nice and cozy you don’t need really much very nice and cozy but the good thing to know is that we’re only seeing little part of the Palace of course so we’re only seeing the rooms of William

And Mary while there have been 10 generations of Royals so you can see a lot more this is just one of the Wings okay let’s move back again and up until quite recently this was a residential Palace of the royal family of Dutch royal family that’s true until

1984 so and the Royals after after William and Mary all the Royals after that every time were taking were taking other uh we’re taking other rooms so and designed it in their own style so you can also find 19th century and even 20th century rooms from newer Royals but they

Still still kept the kept the old rooms in the same style so basically basically nothing changed since that since that time so okay shall we go yeah Mary okay and now from a little more nearby look at these again for kids these little horses to get used to ride on a

Horse later on of course as little kids you were starting with one of these or you can even have these little dog on Wheels and ask your servants to bark exactly exactly ask your servants to bark that’s the good that’s the good way I think yeah we’re back we’re back very

Good we have to go up a little so we’re climbing now to the roof of the palace so typical uh typical Dutch steep stairs I think Anna you’re already used to it now or not how can you be used to that almost 90° staircase yeah it’s like very steep

Stairs okay we’re back yeah we’re back that’s good okay we’re not the only ones over here so okay we’re just gonna just waiting for someone in a wheelchair we need some little more warmth to have a beautiful view outside everyone deserv you okay okay still light it is dry no how is that

Possible so we are over here on one of the locations that Mary loved the most and you can maybe imagine why we were seeing this before yeah are you out of a breath a little one so but yeah this was one of the favorite locations where Mary loved to watch and

Anna and myself will take you around the palace that is still used several weeks a year as a residence for the current Dutch royal family. As we explore, will be following in the footsteps of generations of royals who made Het Loo their home.
