This one was in service from Hitler’s napkins welcome to the Infantry Division Museum okay we are at the National Infantry Museum we got enter the museum walk around we only have an hour don’t forget to sign in so they keep a log on how many people are visiting hi welcome to the 45th Division Museum my name is Ted Hibbert I’m the

Curator here have been since January 1st 2023 I’m glad to have you here thanks for coming to visit us early Oklahoma trails and forts spish American war of 1898 indan Wars of 1868 and 1890 the Civil War in Indian territories from 1861 see that canteen yeah people used to drink when people

Drink out of that and this is the Mexican border from 1916 to 1917 World War I from plows to bayonets 1917 to 1918 World War I over there 45th Infantry Division was activated in 1923 this is from from Oran to Sicily this is the champagne campaign onto the rhin L this

Is Italy this is the dawn of mass death the modern machine guns from World War I these are German France and English did you see the magazine on it like it’s a circular magazine which one’s American so that’s you said that’s French the first two are German it’s

English for America no no uh like United people working here are so nice they’re volunteers um they actually showed us picture where a guy got blown up and his leg is still there on top of a tree but he got blown up by a shelf so

Now his is very experience he has been to many uh Army museums and he has seen what you know war is and War does especially during the second like Hitler might give you this so we got a pictorial review and Alia was checking out all these they did a

Great job right actual pictures combat in France combat in Germany so this is Bill molden and that’s a room full of drawings he did um he actually donated all of these cartoons that he did while in combat this sterling silver frame with case was was by Hitler’s desk in his Munich

Apartment and now if I come here these are all actual Hitler’s artifacts these are these were recovered from uh Hitler’s Munich apartment where the 45th was sent to see by the end of uh 1945 to see if he was in his apartment but he was in Berlin at that time according to

The gentleman here you can kind of see those symbols on the chest uh this uh tea service this tea pots uh this was donated by somebody uh who was in Oklahoma this these are all validated as actual artifacts from Hitler’s apartment now if I pan my camera around this whole

Room is full of things this is the Hitler’s private sitting room in the buron bunker there’s some theories that this is where you know um he ended his life this mirror was taken by his office but then stolen or taken away by the the Russians these this gentleman was uh was

Not in the 45th but he was from Oklahoma and who was uh there at the Berlin bunker and he he brought that mirror back from so this mirror is the only known miror that was taken from uh Hitler’s bedroom in the Berlin bunker this one on the back is just solid back

It has no in the military these wound badges you would get like a black one for if you lost one or two for limbs three or four for a silver one and a gold one down here yeah a gold one um for five plus loss so if you lose five

Plus liims you got a gold little medal I don’t think it’s the Hitler’s napkins with the Insignia on it this is his bed linen and towels and napkins in China so we just met with Ted who’s the curator of this Museum and he actually

Said it to us who knew uh out of nowhere Oklahoma they have one of the most incredible Museum collections from Hitler’s private uh residents look at that bed linens guest hotel right authentic items from his summer residence I can’t pronounce that word near Germany near Germany uh that was brought over by a

Lieutenant uh and was one of the first American soldiers to enter Hitler’s residence look at this napkins from 1940s everything has ah printed or sewn on it you’re being whisk away quickly come on Isa the gentleman wants to show you something back and show you guys the rest of the room in a

Second just one at a time get up in this Jeep oh my take a picture I’ll take a picture wait now wait till he gets in take picture of oh my God thank you so much CH look here oh that’s a that’s an incredible pict get the airplane in the

Back yes I got the airplane in the back okay thank you so much you’re welcome okay Issa is going in next we’ll get the airplane in the back too oh my god oh that’s incredible and this is a real authentic Jeep rifle on it with a recoiless rifle on it a real authentic

Jeep and he says in it thank you so much yeah you say you okay buddy and when you come out just be be careful of that don’t touch anything okay bomb over there okay the bomb’s not real right no it’s everything is real but it’s probably not active it’s not in

Operation right now thank you so much sir that was incredible so this is what happens when you travel around you meet amazing people and amazing experiences this is a World War II Jeep Jeep it’s a real jeep that was used during the war the reason for this

Is after the invasion and the uh France and Germany G’s had a bad habit of leaving the windshield down and the top off and driving crazy 60 70 M an hour the Germans picked up on that okay so what they did when they know that the gis

Were coming down a certain Road or that they would spring telephone wire across oh here cut heads off so the gis decided said okay American Ingenuity so they went to the engineers they had this welded on so when the wire hit here come up here and cut it off oh that’s why the

Cutter is there that’s where the Cutters were the whole Hall is full of pictures artifacts and the real uh vehicles from the war which are by the way still operable okay here’s a quick look in a m113 see all the ammunition that’s what the APC looks like from inside there’s

Something about these small museums the amount of detail and work we have had limited exposure to International Military Museum and to the one in Soul South Korea which was incredible itself now this is the command car it’s the original Jeep a halfon in service between 1940 and 1945

All of these are in working condition just needs a battery for something that was in World War II this is amazing so here’s the half ton truck pilot uniforms here that’s a wounded soldier over there because Ana we’re checking out yep war is tough It’s a piper l4b

Grasshopper from 1940 wouldn’t you just love having this in your garage just go for a quick Target run sitting in this thing so this was called the visel it’s a n29 fully tracked it was manufactured by stud Baker and produced between 1942 and 1945 Medical Services truck number

TP 40 and look at these Chinese requir less rifle from 75mm foot drawn a copy of a US M20 as well isn’t this incredible Alia this whole collection this back room is incredible I can easily spend 2 hours just in this room alone just reading everything that’s true any

Museum that you visit you can just make a quick tour look at a few things and just walk out but when you start reading the history of it or if you start meeting the people who know about the history of and you go into the details when you learn all those things it’s

Really really fascinating and every little detail becomes very valuable and important at that point uh which is what we as a family love about museums anytime you go in you look at something and then you realize the significance of that thing in the past this Museum we

Are loving it so far and the people here have been very welcoming and very nice to us so it’s a great experience person like 30 people yeah he’s he’s like I Surrender he’s holding a flag so that’s an incredible model these people at the bottom are um ambushing these people they may

Have Bazookas and jeeps and tanks but these people these people at the top don’t even know about the people at the botom they’re about to get ambushed huh this is Red Cross uh was worn by Sally stoffer who along with Miss Betty Jones Mimi Peters and Monica Woods served the

45 Infantry Division as dut dollies during most of the 511 days of combat during World War II next but now the room we were in is called the supporting forces Hall we have a large collection of us rifles and guns um I believe I’m going to get this correct but this is

The third largest gun collection the US Navy collection that’s the Cavalry guns and if I move forward you’re going to see some the CSA artillery and of course the Confederate pistals secondary arms war of secession like so they uh collection in here is incredible the Gatling guns having a

Moment here I was talking about this Gatling gun cuz we watched it in a movie and 2 seconds later Hiser goes yeah we watched this gun attack all the good guys in the movie called The Magnificent 7 and I love the fact that he remembered there’s very little movies that he and I

Have watched together because of of course of his age but we were in a hotel room in Boston I Austin Austin Texas and we watched a movie and he remembered that Issa number 403 is for you or 398 they’re so tiny they’re almost cute I don’t I’m sure this is not the right

Term to use for a pistol but they are very cute did you see the one with four oh my God yeah what do you mean four look at that 396 these are the pocket pistols of the old bestest the Indian Wars so there’s this game called brawl

Stars I’m pretty sure it’s a very popular game uhhuh and there’s this character named Colt you have to unlock him and he was actually named after this gun brand right so Colt was a manufacturer that produced guns this is the Browning machine gun another classic that you would see in World War II

Movies look at the World War II rifles they were not small by any means look at the bayonets on them and these are the World War II American automatic weapons these are the Allied automatic weapons Russian Russian this one is that French British British British British okay the

Russian ones is Nazis and these are both Uh Russian uh we’re in the 1950s uh ERA this is from the Korean War so yeah all of this is from the Korean war look at the giant scope on this one but the is that a flashlight First Chinese made Russian sub submachine

Gun that’s a Russian Maxim model we also have a hall of commanders how do you turn it Off so this is the Afghanistan war that’s a clash Cove and look that’s what the bazooka looks like from inside that’s the inside of a bazooka with the grenade the fuse the motor and the ignition in the back this is what you carry on your shoulder this is their makeshift Church

Actual organ or piano from the V you can see the picture up top their Bible field alar and then the flags and folks uh during service what year is this 19 korea2 in 1952 he has been an incredible host and this is an incredible Museum I highly recommend everybody to come check this

Place out excellent we just said goodbye to Ted we’ll show you guys what the outside outdoor grounds look like oh they have a gift sh it’s all closed so they are closed but they’re letting us hang out in here for a little bit longer this was the Museum tour it’s closed now

But the the grounds are open till 5:00 the grounds are open that’s the insignia for the 45th Infantry and they did say they are moving to a new location and they’re expanding this out a little bit too um and taking care of some of their equipment that’s just sitting upside

You can do a quick size comparison it’s called the heavy tank retriever 1956 19 1957 to 1973 a heavy tank retrieval wow retriever so you need this tank to retrieve another tank this one is artillery prime mover M5 tractor and it was in service from 1942 to 1960s

Right here you have the navon utility aircraft model L 17A in service between 1947 to 1960 this is is a GMA goat m561 articulated cargo truck made by KC Corporation and this has been in service since 1969 oh my God that’s a massive this is another medium tank M48 A5 in service

Take a tour of the 45th Infantry Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma which is the largest state operated Military History Museum in the United States. What took us by surprise was their “historic firearm collection which is the 3rd largest in the country” and “world’s largest collection of items once owned by Adolf Hitler” on public display. The volunteers and the curator were incredible and gracious hosts and the museum was very informational to walk through.

As part of our 50 states by 2025, our goal is to visit one cultural, educational, or historical institution in every state we visit!

  1. +Something you might not have known about Bill Mauldin – he went overseas with the 45th as a plain infantryman, but the Division started its own newspaper and made him an editorial cartoonist. This was the start of a career that lasted the rest of his life. Great video!
