Today’s Thursday it’s the 11th of January 2024 and we’ve come to alamp just needed a bit of shopping and we come here particularly CU um they sell some coffee that I like so uh well we’ll see we we get anything else generally you do don’t we of

Course uh as we go around the shop I’ll try and point out as many prices as I can and uh well you can have a look and see what it looks like uh in your hometown and what’s the cost of living like in mayorca compared to the cost of living where you

Live and Anita’s already been to buy a lot ticket or to get her money back I bought oh yes so uh she won got a little bit of a win so and uh that meant she could get a free lottery ticket so the Almo a shopping center he

Got uh some shops here um then the big Hypermarket and it’s probably one of the biggest on the island so down there you’ve got lots of Shops going have a coffee first and uh an says we’re going to have a coffee first and have a look at the CNA and

They’ve even got a CNA here just like the one in pal it’s just not very big one so hopefully we’ll find a table they a will find a coffee bu he and C campo’s actually been in the news recently because uh uh they intend to extend the the supermarket here is

Huge uh but it’s not that they intend to extend it’s the extra shopping area with the smaller outlets and there’s a piece of land next to it which they’re going to extend got and uh almost double the size of the complex so here not only have we got the alamp supermarket but

We’ve got Deaton which is the sports shop and we’ve got a big DIY store called Leroy Merlin and these are all on the same site no news yet as to what is going to appear on the new part um there lots of smaller shops as well so um well

It’s something to keep an eye on and see how the work progresses uh the situation of vampo is outside of Pala it’s actually on the motorway going up towards Ina and the north of the island Aria poer and so you’ll you’ll pass it on the way if you’re going up to

That side of the island uh but it is big and uh well sell just about everything you could possibly imagine probably tell from the video just how big this um place is s here we’ve now got the self-service section you can’t wait for them to have the

Cheaper and obviously lasts longer it’s long life mil than they medium that’s LGE 145 410 they do doens anymore oh yes there dozens up there 218 dozen large big on fish here we don’t ever buy fish fresh fish like this but uh they have it in the freezer compartments as Well uh but there’s a big fresh fish store fresh fish big in the Mediterranean diet yourself a lobster a live lobster yeah you can’t smell It 250 g of cod 4 389 that’s frozen here we’ve got the octopus and squid the book run is and a big thing they sell here of course is water um people do buy a lot of water here saw one couple going out with two trolleys completely full of Water is getting her water these are 84 cents for a bottle 1 and A2 lit I’m looking for my coffee to make a banana bread so I need some warut dates you got some dates dried apricots all the things for making your cakes sweets on that side nuts on this Side 5 for a big bag of nuts half a kilo look got two smaller ones excellent selection of nuts like here you choose your own on the left on the side this we’ve got some there with a wasab you want some you might have one in we’re in the

Coffee section now and uh the coffee I like is uh this one was a instant coffee this is the Columbia coffee and they started putting it in a tin but they’ made the made it smaller so there’s only 90 G of coffee instead of 100 G and uh

They used to do a Columbia of their own here at alamp but can’t see it anymore so looks like they’ve stopped making that one stopped selling it maybe we’ve just come at the wrong time so not much in the uh the way of instant copies but if you go down the

Here uh the ground coffee and the coffee beans and the capsu coffee there is masses of choice masses and masses Choice all this aisle now is either captal coffee or ground coffee or the whole beans you can get the beans as well and uh lots of different types Coffey really big as you’d

Probably imagine in Spain actually I think sunflower oil has actually dropped in price is now 145 for a liter uh which is not too bad it’s the price of olive oil that’s uh shot up tremendously and people use a lot of olive oil here and you would usually buy

It in uh maybe 3 l or 5 L but here we’re spending 46 50 for 5 L it’s one of 55 sort of one we would have is going to cost us well getting on for €1 for a liter of olive oil you can see there’s lots and lots of oil that’s down

Here just looking at Tomatoes they sell Tomatoes either chopped tomatoes there chopped tomatoes chopped tomatoes that are mashed or you can get the the peeled Tomatoes rice is another stap and of course we have a special rice which is particularly for the paas as well as the uh longer grain rice breakfast cereals didn’t uh seem to be a big thing when we first came to the island it’s gradually changed though so

They’ve got a whole variety of breakfast cereals they have their own Brands aan being the brand which uh it’s put Al Campo is we also have the Kelloggs as well know when we first came there was very few uh different types of corn flakes and that sort of thing

That you can have now there seems to be lots and then on the other side biscuits popular here just as they’re popular in the UK something we very rarely buy actually here’s uh Kellogg’s Corn Flakes so you can do a prize comparison on that one that’s €2

59 that’s for quite a big box by the looks of things size are those whatever they are it’s a big one 500 G we’re in the aisle with sweets now and chocolate drinks this is along here here so chocolate drinks and some sweets to go in the car

I big thing this uh chocolate drinks nrit type chocolate drinks they have it in the morning for breakfast and dip their Che Rose in it bread toasted bread all for breakfast for these little Kelly biscuits such is typical of the island here this Kelly is a factory on

The island here they’re local they’re just like hard bread biscuits here we got sort of U biscuits for cheese cheese biscuits so that’s there’s the toast down there donuts and sliced bread which uh they don’t go a big thing on here they tend to have more fresh

Bread uh but more and more SCE nice Bread so there’s a a loaf of bread this is the storeone brand and that’s €24 about the same price as in eng also your burgers or your hot dogs sugar 147 a kilo white sugar And now we got to to the the wine big range of prices here from Chip wines €299 €225 uh we have more expensive wines pay your money and take your Choice 250 there these are some of the promotions left over from Christmas that’s uh$ 6.94 for AET uh crean rioka wine and uh a bottle of white wine to go with it as well Campo EO down there is one that you get in England we’ SE another lot that’s 574

Above across to New York and here we’re getting on to the reservers and Grand reservers this is a grand reserver pastino one that’s uh 2020 and then the really expensive wines in here so we’ve got some wine up there which is just just € 377 a bottle 78 if you’re looking for some uh Stronger things we got some Gordon’s gin there pink gin € 155 Larios at 1320 this is for a liter of

Course this is just looking over the other side cuz here we’ve got some uh mayen wines one we usually go for that’s the the vray that’s just down the road from uswhere everywhere a bottle of that and the one we do have as a day to-day wine it’s the one down right at

The bottom there it’s theose which is uh €6 54 like whis gra that’s 1389 nice big bottle of jeers there for 29 Red Label it’s a Johnny Walker Leed label $ 11199 but uh you probably want to go for the Black Label and uh Black Label

24 or they’ve got a double black for 36 another drink from here is called ybas an aledy sort of taste got some different mues different types of it here and tunel is the one that’s very typical 9 821 the fancy buckles over there that yes do like that Chillo and then the brand is along here soorano 9 vetrano 9 you the Tes and then if you want a really good one then Carlos primero there we go have a glass with it as well it’s big glass doesn’t look like a very much like a a brandy glass to me my

Imagination of a brandy glass mandza there that’s good one too €25 a botle then just going to go down the fruit and vegetables this is uh potatoes 183 a kilo and uh apples all the different varieties of apples likes the pink lady you do as well I do too and we got potatoes

In garlic and Onions 125 a kilo for onions we started having quite a lot of sweet potatoes these are 165 a kilo or the other variety over here a bit more expensive 225 a kilo onions at 190 kilo or the white ones 199 or the red ones and 245 kilo melons the other ones up there

245 will be per kilo these ones are 1480 kilo limes 295 a Kil lemons we’ve got a garden full of those and oranges we’ve got a garden full of those so we don’t need any of those over at this side you can buy them all in

Bags so big they’ve got their own little cafe in the middle here stop grapes everyone’s been buying grapes in for the new year so there are 12 grapes of good luck on New Year’s Eve and uh chestnuts a bag of chestnuts for $5.59 or get them loose for € 745 for a kilo

Pomegranates the peppers green peppers yellow peppers more green peppers these are pentas they padon and we got some chilies up there as well Cucumber cauliflowers look pretty good today so I need is going to get those they’re just $1.99 each nice big Cauliflowers now we come to the Tomato section some of these are dried tomato so these are the ones that have been hung in the Sun and allowed to dry a little bit more intense I do like to have some Tomatoes here look at those they’re huge there some more that have been

Hung the Cherry ones on the end which one do you want lettuce red cabbage I use that in experiments with the children School carrots 125 a Kil Kilo broccoli Beans n is just getting some par Snips You Can’t Always Get parsnips they’ve got plenty today and uh they do stup 459 you’ve got a mixture of things to make yourself St with mangoes avocados pineapples Ginger fire things here just before we leave here um you

Should have a Wonder see how quiet it is Anita’s just remarking how quiet it is just have a quick look at the time sure what time it is Well actually it’s halfast 1 so it’s lunch time but you expect a few more people here got shops for all sorts of different things and some of these shops have got uh their sales on you see a sign that says reacas that’s the same on We used to bring the children Children Here many years ago they used to be enthralled by the tropical fish so this one’s been here for quite a long time and the other animals in there maybe that’s where we got our hamster from but a zar is in here there’s

Deaton if you want to go to Leroy Merlin you have to go outside there’s no direct connection we used to come here to get our uh dues Cleaned just to know the the owner of the cleaner cleaners I’m getting it changed hands and I’ve been here for quite a while Was popular the lottery shop get yourself a lottery you got from outside from one of the vendors outside and the Cobblers so you can get your shoes repaired just a Minute so this is going to be extended cons considerably when they open up the other part I’m guessing that’s going to take a year or two we start mobile phones Well we’ve done our shopping now and uh time to go home so uh it’s looking a bit gray and a bit dull out there so we’ll Dodge the spots as we go home and uh I’ll see you in the next video bye for now bye
