Feel the energy of spending Christmas in Italy! This was the best vacation ever; reuniting with our exchange daughter! Claudia spent a year with us in Monroe, WA through the EF Exchange program. We couldn’t wait to visit her in Italy again over the Christmas holiday!

On this trip we flew into Turin Italy where she goes to college, then traveled around the country. It is amazing to experience holiday traditions in other countries. The lights and entertainment in Piazza San Carlo in Turin was the kickoff to our trip. We really enjoyed our hotel in Turin – Best Western + Hotel Genova. Then off to ski the alps in Sestriere, home of the 2006 Winter Olympics. We made our way to Siena and took in the breathtaking views of the Tuscan countryside. We stayed at Il Chiostro Del Carmine in Siena. This hotel was originally a 14th century monastery. Next stop was Viterbo, Claudia’s home town, to spend Christmas with her family. This is where we really got to enjoy the Italian holiday traditions they celebrate. And the food… WOW! Must note the pizza at Monastero in Viterbo, out of this world! We finished our travels in Pisa, staying at the Grand Hotel Duomo, with the best views in Pisa! The Leaning Tower of Pisa is really something to see in person.

We had the best tour guide ever! Enjoy our adventure and put Italy on your must see list! Buon Natale!
