Rainy Paphos Seafront Walk – Part 1
Hi this is Dominic for pafor life I’m at the castle today on a rather damp and dreary January Sunday morning not going to bother looking for a reflection shot there the first part of this film’s probably going to be quite quick because it looks like there’s a lot of rain
Coming I had hoped that this was going to be a nice sunny walk along the seafront but the weather for car let me down I can blame them cuz I checked about half an hour before I came out and it said there were zero chance of rain it’s just gone
8:00 and if you look up there you see all the nice rain clouds that coming in this direction now hopefully there’s a one of the gift shops I know sells umbrellas and they will be open at this hour on a Sunday morning while I’m passing through may as
Well to see how uh ocean bask is coming along lot of work’s going on there now obviously not the moment cuz it’s Sunday they’re all a home or a church it’s a fisherman I don’t think we’ll have the you la la man out and about this morning uh this time anyway
So we get a better look of the work up here who knows I might be lucky with the rain Aston Villa versus West Ham my team managed to Scrabble a draw yesterday weatherwise it was actually uh only 5 degrees Centigrade driving down here from PMI which is cold for um like
Me appreciate if you’re in the UK that’s positively boiling at the moment from the last reties you as were Christmas decorations up yeah it might be dry and gray and rainy but the sea is quite relatively calm which is a bit boring cuz if you’re going to get wet having
Nice big crashing waves makes up for it see know if I stay in p and done the film there all blue skies over there but the uh audience for p films is a lot smaller than the audience for pathos films so it’s all your fault hope you appreciate
That we work out what you actually it looks like a lump of fat or something there’s some nice sun raay coming through the clouds over there though I mean t typically uh January and February are the westest months in Cyprus anyway so this shouldn’t come as any surprised but uh
Oh that wave is a little bit more exciting it’s not as if the countryside doesn’t need the water I don’t think I’ll bother with an umbrella see if the sign reveals the temperature the moment is just doing an advert for milk waiting for the other side of the uh seafont
Then I guess I need to be taking this sign down now really don’t they wonder how long it will stay up there for and what will come up in this place What the pigeons about o funny enough Easter in Cyprus is a time for more decorations and Christmas and I know I do know that uh uh Eastern Cyprus oh if you really want want to see decorations the better times come to uh cypresses in the Easter time that was equally
Bad just coming up to elenne say hello to our webcam keep mean to get another webcam put up somewhere must be will in ly oh someone gave me the thumbs up that’s always nice to see anyway I could get an umbrella the shops aren’t open few waves coming up
Here Pap’s Central Beach I say that as a joke because it’s not really a well it is a beach but it’s a tiny one but some people say oh there’s no beaches in paos at all which is complete an utter nonsense you got there two in your osapy
Beach uh you got sodat Beach you’ve got pakos Beach you’ve got uh I another Municipal Beach all up that way and going the other way you’ve got Venus Beach uh you got Sandy Beach coval Bay itself COV Bay Beach and CIA Beach and there are lots of smaller
Beaches as well and that’s just on the South Side on the North Side right from uh well you got the Blue Lagoon I suppose then you’ve got uh Aphrodite secret Beach uh numerous beaches between uh aphrodites barbs and polish and more ice not I more remote beaches from pois to pomos in PAC we do actually have a beach directory on our website I’ll might as
Well stick up a link to that there’s the boy with the fish I think I’ll probably avoid having a closeup of him because the waves when they come up do tend to go over the side and I don’t really fancy getting wet but there he is see some dark clouds up
There and I might as well have a pan round oh let’s see if they get wet is that mean I they putting the camera down even yes that is mean they obviously got more stamina than I have or better change your clothes right as they won’t be swimmers
About and the waves aren’t that big I’ll see if I can walk through here oh quite a bit of rain here I’m not feeding it cuz I got a hat on oh there are some swimmers around okay that I didn’t expect I let this CH come through oh I won’t
Actually he’s the sensible one with the umbrella quite a few people in the restaurant lots of seaweed washed out somebody on the gym equipment which is good to see but yes there are a couple of swimmers about and I thought the sea would have been a bit
Rough for that I mean the red flags up and everything there you go right be the end of this section of the walk and give my arm a rest and the next section see F or I’m going to walk up the sea fund I think but for now I’ll say Goodbye
On Sunday morning I set off to Paphos Seafront expecting to fly my drone. However, the weather forecast’s prediction of sunny weather proved wrong, and it wasn’t suitable drone-flying conditions. Not to be preturbed, I set off with my trusty GoPro to record the scene. In the first part of the walk we start at the castle and walk up to the far end of the sea front.

Has there been much rain so far this Winter or are the reservoirs still fairly empty? Any snow in the Troodos Mountains yet?
