Saint Lazarus Church, Square And Museum Larnaca | Larnaca Municipal Market (Agora) Food Hall
If you are visiting Larnaca you have to go and take a look around Saint Lazarus church in the town Center. It is said that Saint Lazarus was raised from the dead by Jesus. According to Orthodox tradition sometime after his resurrection he was forced to flee Judea as rumoured plots had been made on his life. He came to Cyprus and was appointed as the bishop of Kiteon ( Now named Larnaca) He lived here for thirty more years before he died for a 2nd time. The church of Saint Lazarus was built over his tomb.
You are asked to dress appropriately before entering the church, some shawls are available to cover up if you need to when visiting in shorts during the summer months.
The museum had many old historic artefacts and is well worth a visit for the €1 entrance fee.
Larnaca municipal market ( Agora) has now opened the 2nd floor food hall. Some cafes / restaurants are open and others are preparing to open. The 3rd floor roof bar looks like it will Bea popular place to enjoy evening drink during the warmer months.
