PRAGUE, CZECHIA | Europe’s Most Beautiful Capital? πŸ‡¨πŸ‡Ώ

Welcome to Prague the Magnificent capital of the Czech Republic today I’m going to take you on a little tour of this gorgeous City and showcase some of its highlights so let’s Go All right guys before we go and explore the city of prag let me quickly show you my accommodation because it is a pretty unique type of accommodation I am actually staying on this boat right here on the river vava looks pretty cool doesn’t it so this is the hallway right

Here on the lower deck of the boat let’s see what the room is like and here we are pretty nice actually we got a double bed and a view onto some trees so yeah unfortunately I am not on the side of the river which is over there but yeah

What do we have here we have two bunk beds this is a fridge I suppose yes some glasses heating that is important and also air conditioning if you come in summer let’s check out the bathroom as well I mean yeah nothing fancy but it’ll

Do the job I guess so yeah this is my boat hotel or boatel I should say and the reason I got this is because I thought it would be cool to stay at a place which is a bit different to a regular hotel and the second reason is

That this was amazing value for money I am paying €38 a night for this room which is really cheap for prag you can find rooms for that price but then they will be very old and not in good condition and yeah it is not in the center center of

Prag it is about 3 km from charlesbridge but it is very well connected there is a tram stop just about 200 M from here and also this price includes breakfast which again makes this a very sweet deal and there is a Terrace on the boat and yeah

It might be a bit cold but overall I’m very happy with my choice here something a bit different we are now on the river vava here my hotel is somewhere over there and what I’m going to do now is I’m going to walk to the Old Town the

Historic core of prag which is somewhere over there on the other side of the river and yeah this is my fourth time in Prague but the last time was about 6 years ago and I’ve never been here in the middle of winter like this but I’m really looking forward to exploring once

Again because make no mistake about it this is one of the prettiest cities you’ll find anywhere all right I am now on the other side of the river and the first building that I wanted to show you guys is this one right here this is the famous dancing house built in 1996 and

Designed by two men Czech Croatian architect Vlad milunic and none other than Frank giri you might remember my dle video in which I showed gir’s buildings in that City and yeah this is another giri project and I think it looks really cool because it is connected to this historic building and

It kind of fits but then it also stands out as we are walking into the center of Prague with its stunning architecture let’s talk a little bit about the history of this fascinating country and city the Czechs as a nation much like many other nations in Central Europe

Have existed for many many centuries but the country Czech Republic or czechia both names are actually correct isn’t all that old the modern country of czechia has only existed since 1993 before that there was Czechoslovakia so the two countries czechia and Slovakia together and that state was founded

After World War I in 1918 and before that the Czech nation was part of many larger countries and Empires like the AUST Hungarian Empire but then in the Middle Ages there was actually the kingdom of bohemia which was led by Czechs there were many important Bohemian Emperors who left their mark on

History including Charles IV under whose Reign a lot of this city was built right I am now on narodni which is one of the main Avenues here in central Prague and it is time for a coffee break Prague actually has many historic coffee shops

And I’m going to go to one of them the famous cafe loua right here opened in 1902 Cafe loua has been a prag Institution for more than 100 years in the 20th century it was a popular meeting spot for intellectuals and scientists as such France kfka Albert Einstein and vsav havl the first

President of the Czech Republic were regulars here I went for a viese coffee that has whipped cream and it was delicious all right that was the cafe loua one of the most beautiful and historic coffee shops here in prag and it is very reasonably priced as well

Considering that it is so famous and now we are going to walk into prague’s gorgeous old town and it is going to get very picturesque but also very crowded the last few times I was here this city was ramp packed with tourists it is probably always the case but I do think

That in summer there are more tourists here than in Winter even though the Christmas period which is approaching now is a very popular time to come here as well this is one of those cities where you can just get Lost and enjoy the various beautiful places that you discover just like this Courtyard here as I was saying it is getting very crowded and very noisy here wow this square is Oldtown square and as you can see it is buzzing Oldtown square is one of the most beautiful historic squares in

Prague and home to two major churches the 14th century gothic church of our Lady before tin and the St Nicholas church which was built in the 1700s apart from those the square boasts the old town hall with its astronomical clock installed in 1410 the clock is the

Oldest of its kind that’s still in operation in December you’ll also find one of the city’s main Christmas markets here now let’s go check out the Christmas Market here you can buy hot wine and beer of course and then here’s some souvenirs and Handicrafts coffee drinks and sausages what else do they have here to Che chimney cakes this is a check specialty I think the variety of food that you can get here is actually pretty good and the prices seem more reasonable than the Christmas Market in kco where I was a few days

Ago I might get something later here not sure I am not hungry yet but yeah the buildings on this Square are just the definition of picturesque there really aren’t that many squares in Europe that can compete with this one in terms of sheer Beauty here we even have a Smith who is making

These spells and all that stuff and I am getting all the smoke into my nose so let’s go over here so yeah this Old Town Square is another case of crazy crowded but for a reason and now we seem to to be on a fancy shopping Avenue we got Louis Von over

There Dior and Salvatore farag not sure what this street is called but it looks a bit like the Kik Ali of Prague Kik Ali being the most famous fancy shopping street in dorf this is actually the second dorf reference that I’m making here even though both cities have absolutely

Nothing in common they both have buildings designed by Frank giri I guess that’s what they have in common but yeah I mean just look how beautiful this street is the center of PRK is basically one continuous piece of art you won’t find many ugly buildings here at least

Not in the center so yeah the city is basically a mix of medieval architecture and then 19th century art deco a Habsburg whatever you want to call it buildings and now we are in the Jewish quarter of Prague here you have a Sven store with a star of David and this

Right here is a synagogue you can see the Hebrew over here let me just quickly show it to you I obviously cannot read this but yeah there is a more impressive synagogue just around the corner but the history of the Jews in prag is actually very interesting so in 1939 before the

Second world war there were over 990,000 Jews living in Prague which was about 1/5 of the population of the city and they had existed and prospered for many centuries here one of the most famous Jews living in Prague was France kfka the novelist but when the Nazis occupied

The city and the country under the infamous Butcher of Prague Reinhard hrish most Jews were sent to concentration camps and murder so today the Jewish population here is less than 2,000 but yeah the Nazis under hrish didn’t just send the juice to concentration camps they also tried to

Erase Czech culture the Czech language identity and so on so yeah a disastrous period for czechia prag and the Jews and here we have the Spanish synagogue built in 1868 and as you can see it was built in this moish style so it looks completely different to the other

Buildings here in the center of Prague and yeah it is not a functioning synagogue anymore it is a museum today and now we are at the mega famous Mega crowded and mega beautiful Charles bridge this bridge was completed in 1402 and it took 45 years to build and yeah I

Am not going to walk over it now because I just don’t have the time I’m going to walk to another part of the River Bank where you have better views so yeah Charles bridge built by famous king of bohemia Charles IV was the main connection point between the old town

And prag Castle which you can see on the hill up there this is actually the largest medieval castle in the world and you have a few museums up there now I don’t have time to go up there it would take me way too long and I am losing the

Light but I have been up there twice in the past and it is definitely worth visiting all right guys it is getting dark and I am am getting hungry so time for some hearty Czech food and a beer or five I went to a place called uleu which

Is the oldest brewery in prag making beer since 1499 and whilst it’s a bit touristy the quality is topnotch the house beer was outstanding and the goulash with check dumplings was delicious all right guys I am now back at my hotel on the boat here and yeah

I’m going to call it a day my time here in Prague was short but sweet I am moving on tomorrow morning and yeah this is one of the prettiest cities you’ll find anywhere even in this gray weather that we had today so yeah thanks very much for watching and see you in the

Next one goodbye
