How To React When Laos Travel Plans Fall Apart.

While you’re traveling, sometimes plants don’t work out according to what you think. So when I’m traveling internationally especially, I’m always flexible with my travel arrangements. So here in Vientiane, Laos, my friend and I, we forgot to book our train tickets and now they’re all sold out.

So let’s take a look at how we’re going to deal with this traveling fiasco. What’s going on, guys? This is Francois Marc, your favorite American expat living in Seoul, South Korea. I am still here in Laos and the weather is extremely hot. I believe it’s like 28 degrees, which is a big contrast

To the minus five degrees in Seoul. Yeah. Yeah, so my friend and I, we’re here in Laos and we are staying in Vientiane, the capital, but we wanted to go to Luang Prabang, which is a city to, I think the north of where we are.

But unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to reserve a train ticket. So we’re going to have to come up with something else to do. Zack, what are those? “Shrimp Chips.” Okay, we can get those in Korea. Pretty good? It’s got a little Laos chase to it.

Yeah, I remember when I was a younger traveler and sometimes my travel plans didn’t go according to “plan”. Yeah, I would throw like, a fit and it’s like, dang, I’m not able to do exactly what I want to do. So what, what, what am I going to do?

Like, my, my tickets fell through. I can’t go here. I can’t go there. Like, I used to pout and cry a lot when I was younger, when I couldn’t, you know, do the exact plan I wanted to do. Okay, So we miss our train or actually, we didn’t miss our train.

We weren’t able to get tickets to the train, for the train, to go to a different city here in Laos. So, yeah, our plans kind of got messed up, but it’s not really the end of the world because, you know, you can always find something else to do,

Yo, Zack, how do you feel about us not being able to make our train and having to stay in Vientiane? Me, I’m a last minute guy when it comes to planning trips. I usually only buy one way tickets. Speak louder! Speak louder. I usually buy one way tickets when I go somewhere.

Some places, but like I thought we could get away with just buying a train ticket. the day before, but apparently in Laos you got to buy that stuff. Days or weeks in advance at a time. So if you ever come to Laos, Make sure you buy those tickets well in advance.

Yes, So even though we missed our train, you know, it’s not the end of the world. There’s still some things that we can find to do and that we are going to do. But I guess it’s kind of like, you know, it’s a blessing in disguise

Because when, you know, one plan kind of falls through, you’re able to make another plan and you never know what you’re going to experience with your new plan. Okay, so we’re at the top of this shrine. It’s an Arc De Triomphe. here in Vientiane, Laos. And the view outside is amazing!

So if we would have left yesterday, we would not have been able to come here to see this amazing view. So as you can see, things actually work out. Even if they don’t full according to plan. Okay. We just randomly stumbled into, like, the Shangri-La area of Vientiane. Like this.

This places, like, really serene. Like, look at the houses. The architecture of the houses here. Wow! Very, very neat and well laid out. Yo, check out this architecture here and look at these dragons. I wonder what they symbolize. These look hot! but these dragons… It’s really cool.

Like because the rooster or ’Le Coq’ is the national bird of France. So I wonder if there’s like some kind of, you know, similarity in culture here. this is so cool. Like, look at all these colors. These are definitely or I don’t want to say these,

But this solid architecture is definitely different than what you see in Korea. Like, wow, it’s I think it’s more expressive Like look at that. That is too cool. Yooooo! Yeah. So you can see even when things don’t go according to plan, we weren’t able to take the train to Luang Prabang.

You know, we’re still out here having fun and enjoying ourselves and there are so many things that we we still can see. Like maybe if we would have taken the train, we would not have been able to come to this temple.

So, yeah, sometimes you got to miss out on something to find something better. Check out this simple. I’m really digging the architecture. But the architecture here is crazy. I really, really dig it. Like, this is some of the colorful and most expressive architecture I’ve seen in a long, long time.

Also like, I’m still sick. Like, that’s probably why I don’t have as much energy in these videos and I apologize for it. Like, as soon as we arrived, I got sick. I think it’s because it’s really cold in Korea and very hot here, as I said before.

So not going to the new city, Luang Prabang, is also a good thing because I can probably sit down a rest in the cafe and get some much needed sleep. The light is green over here, but all of the cars are still coming. This is crazy.

You got to look out for yourself here in Vientiane, because… “they want you to die.” Yeah, you can just. Seriously…get into an accident Very easily. Sheesh, no one stopping at all. This is green. “I don’t think that will ever turn red, bro.” I don’t think anyone cares. sure.

Oh, shoot, we found an authentic Vietnamese restaurant here in Vientiane. Just walking around. This place is cool because it’s not like inside of a building. It’s on the outside. It’s a lot of fresh air, and the colors are wonderful. This is the place that you want to go to pick up your spirits.

Hey, check this out. This guy’s got, like, a coconut over there. Maybe they got fresh coconut water, too. Okay. Okay. It’s here. I put the lime in my pho. But Francois put the lime on his eye. Yo, even if we’re not doing exactly what we planned out to do, we get to eat.

We are always going to eat. (Black American slang accent) So, now we’re getting some pho. Weird guys. Anyways, my voice is gone and looks like we’re going to get on a plane to head to Thailand right now. So yeah, we had an awesome time here.

Even though we didn’t get a chance to do everything that we wanted. So we’ll definitely be coming back. Anyways guys, I hope to see you in the next one. Take care. Love of you all. Stay hydrated and don’t get sick like me. See you. Peace!

  2. The architecture is sick!! And sadly so were you… Hope you're feeling better, that pho looked like it helped. Which that reminded me of trying to cross the streets in Vietnam… I couldn't do it!
