Almost wasn’t from Melbourne to Sydney qus have been in the news this year for all the wrong reasons they’ve been reported to have sold seats on cancelled flights and been slapped with a big fine for it too has generally been accepted the customer service has really Fallen away on Quantas cancellations delays the

CEO retiring CEO Alan Joyce he actually left 2 months early because of all the all the fuss so it’s been quite it’s been quite the tumultuous time for quas so I thought I’d start this Vlog which is by the way November 2023 flying coris and I

Thought I’d try a business class cuz I haven’t done a business class review for you on quantis yet um in fact I’ve never taken business class on quantis in my life so it hasn’t gone smoothly folks um two nights ago they canceled my flight they put me on to another flight

I checked in last night seat 3F which was the same seat as the previous flight business class when I got to the airport uh without even telling me they had downgraded me to economy class uh after a little bit of uh two and throwing I’m now on another flight instead so that I

Can uh I can I can do business class so we’re living about 45 minutes later than originally intended which is no big deal today’s flight will be on an Airbus A330 and this is the first Vlog of a little Adventure that I’m going on for 3 weeks into southeast Asia where I’ll be

On a number of different airlines not on business class this is my only business class uh so we’re going to see what seu Pacific’s like Air Asia and scoop so they’re all Budget Airline let’s see how they compare but today we are Quantas business class A330 Melbourne to Sydney

So this is a lounge and actually it’s really quite nice it’s very spacious there’s lots of food choices we might have a quick look over there uh and of course we’ve got the board over there we’re on flight qf 466 at the top there departing at 4:30 uh gate 23 they have all day options here you can make your own sandwiches and cold meats and stuff like That and over here we’ve got a few hot Options out of the spice bar they give you a couple of options to hot sweet sour and numbing chicken with fried steak beans and rice goodbye 737800 I wonder where you’re heading all in all this Lounge actually really really good um it’s a domestic lounge here so you have to keep that in

Mind and it’s spacious and comfortable there are food options there are bars you can have a drink but soon it’s time to head to the Gate [Applause] there she is our ride today gate 23 seems like a pretty small gate area for such a big [Applause] plane welcome on board this qutis A330 heading to Sydney hey this is um this must connect through Sydney and and fly International or something cuz this is um a lot nicer than I was expecting this is a a full one two one business class configuration place your bags Wheels

First maximize available space once again welcome on board well we’re nicely settled in here already very quick uh with here about 10 minutes away from schedule departure which was 4:30 on this particular flight um and I’m very impressed with the layout it’s quite relaxing it’s very

Relaxing I was I was expecting to have someone sitting next to me I was expecting it to be the old the older style probably 222 or 232 uh with um a couple of large seats next to each other but um no and they even have uh the the old map and the old

Um entertainment screen there we go it’s a distance today of 700 and 3 km and uh probably going to take us a little over an hour so it’s not a long flight I don’t know if we’re going to get food I think we will but I think

It’ll just be Stacks even though it’s a A short flight though it is nice uh to have the Comfort tomorrow I’m on seu Pacific uh and they cram as many economy seats into a plane as anyone as any airline in the world so um going to

Enjoy this while I can uh this flight was1 18,000 qutis frequent fly Points Plus $41 tax which you can use points for instead and the cck SE tour for you so down from the screen we can see under there that’s where my legs reach although I haven’t flattened the seat at

All uh and storage there for your bag over here seat controls o and uh even a power soccer which is nice the table comes out like that and over here goodies and then there we see that’s where you get your life jacket if you need it you know I’m still pretty new to

Business class travel but I mean this is probably a little simpler than some of the ones that I’ve taken but it’s uh you know for a domestic product it’s really really Good and some uh slightly Superior headphones it looks like to the economy ones so uh we were du to theart about 2 minutes ago so no big deal yet um but I have just received an SMS telling me that I’m on this flight rather than the

Other one that I was on earlier today which is different from the one that I was on until about 10:30 p.m. on Saturday thank you C please the cab for departure well there’s some good news let’s do It N [Applause] as you can see folks we are airborne yes we are in the air we’re flying and uh let’s see we are up up and away we are about uh we left about 35 minutes late but we are on our way to Sydney a flight time we were told of

Around an hour so while I’m here I finished the basics for you let’s see how flat we can get this thing right oh you got to got to hold your finger sort of well folks this appears to be about as far back as the thing goes which is quite reclined I don’t

Know if it’s supposed to go flat it looks like it according to the controls but um every time I push on it it seems to move a little bit but then it stops so I’m not sure if it’s working properly I mean we don’t need it to go fully flat on this flight

But I like to uh I like to demonstrate these things for you uh further little issues here down here you can see near the feet that uh this little plastic Grill here has uh come off and down here yeah that’s not stuck on properly either anymore I mean it uh it does feel

Like quite an old aircraft and it could do with a bit of a refit but having said that I suppose these things are mostly cosmetic aren’t [Applause] they we’re flying high folks and uh all good just had a chat with the uh Stuart s who’s AB lovely

Very friendly and bubbly which is great cuz I felt like when we got on the plane there wasn’t much in the way of uh service I mean it’s it’s only domestic flight um and so it’s sort of hard to compare with like my experiences on Emirates and Eddie had in Singapore um I

Say this flight is uh is heading on onwards to Honolulu attempted not to get off well Cy it’s tit it’s toilet time well I had to comment something didn’t I uh yeah we are here in the toilet um this is um this is Tiny this is really really this is the smallest

Business class toilet I’ve ever been in we’ve only just taken off maybe a couple of people have used it I mean it’s okay is what it is does look a little bit worn what do you expect from your infl toilet experience leave your thoughts in the

The PE and ham soup um yeah which is not bad I mean the flight is not during a meal time so oh yeah that’s nice is it the cut In Folks here we come into Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport let me tell you this is one of the best approaches you’ll find to uh an International Airport out there I there’s a few there are some better but it’s really if we come in from the right angle and I think we are it’s All well folks um a pretty relaxing flight once I got on board and um despite the issues that preceded the actual flight uh and even though we’re about 45 minutes late or just over I’m I’m fortunate enough not to actually be in a rush to go anywhere cuz I’m just staying

In Sydney near the Airport overnight before my international flight tomorrow uh which should be a very interesting one indeed I think um So so despite all these things I think I’ve had a pretty good flight um and maybe just a a few final thoughts coming away from the hotel room Okay folks well spent a good 20 minutes waiting here at the carousel still no bags have appeared it did just start running again though so that’s something right well folks it’s actually the next morning cuz I’m a lazy lazy man yes I’m finally getting around to wrapping up my

Quers flight before I leave for my next flight don’t forget to check that out sebu Pacific um provided you know that it all goes well so obviously quis have had their problems their problems are not magically fixed which is not a surprise I suppose you can’t expect that

Um and so we’re sort of uh we had so we had a cancellation then they didn’t have my seat but they moved me to another flight so at least they they tried to accommodate and get me in business class on another flight which I was grateful

For and flying an e 330 even though it was quite a dated air airplane the space inside was great and the cabin crew were pretty good too looking closer at the Hard product you could also see that uh there’s a little bit of damage here and there that could be fixed Quantas hello

I think what we can say after that experience was that corner certainly um they have a bit of work to do to repair their reputation to stop the cancellations and the delays and honestly I didn’t expect to see their cabin in the state that it was in so

Especially it was the business class cabin cortis have made a commitment so they say uh to improving the customer service experience so uh I guess we’ll all watch with beta breath to see how that goes in the next year or two folks thanks for joining me as always I

Late last year I headed off on another ‘mini-adventure’ to South-East Asia. The first step was to fly with Qantas to Sydney, using Frequent Flyer Points, in Business Class. But that proved harder than I expected. For starters, the flight was cancelled, and then I was bumped down a class.
Another flight was available though, and on an Airbus A330 with a great and spacious configuration. So hop on board with me and see what Qantas dished up in this time of controversy with the airline that is still regarded as Australia’s National Carrier. Enjoy!
