Sorrento Perfect Day Trip Combo: Pompeii and a Wine Tour
Chia Travelers today I want to talk about my amazing time and day trip to Pompei the Magnificent city that was swallowed by Mont vuia volcano like over 2,000 years ago check it Out all right so we booked our tickets on online and we did not do the extra tickets that were of the village so we our ticket was around 17 I believe or 18 and we kept it um we knew of our limited time and we kept it as just
Really pompe in itself we took a train which took about 40 minutes but it was really cheap um from sento which is where we stayed at and you’re looking for tips on sento I did a video check out that video about what five reasons why you should visit sarento we headed
There decided to get there at 10:00 I knew that I would need at least 2 hours I wanted to just calculate the time for my wine tour now I scheduled my wine tour for 1:30 um so I wanted to have enough time and a little bit of downtime before we
Got back to the train station where we were going to be picked up for the wine tour so one thing to know about booking pompe is I strongly recommend that you book a tour guide I usually rarely get a tour guide but Pompei is big and it’s
Like you’re not going to know what you’re looking at if you don’t get a guide so we got the audio guide so I do want to go back one day and do like a full um tour guide with the local but when you get there there’s an office on
The steps upstairs where you could book a local guide on spot if you did not book one so I do recommend a tour because the place is massive number one there’s just so much to see exhibits and homes that that’s going to be helpful but if you can’t do that please please
Please get the audio tour or else you’re going to feel like you wasted your time at least with the audio tour you can know what you’re looking at and the different kinds of houses so we took about 2 hours there um but we took our time we walked around there were a
Couple of things we wanted to see I really wanted to see the casts of the bodies I really wanted to see the brothel um so that was on my list I wanted to see and the houses um different houses different things that I had read up on is what I wanted to see
So you might want to do a little research before to see what’s going to be on top of your list and I wanted to walk around take photos now inside they do have a bathroom they do have also like this restaurant kind of Bakery type
Of place in case you get hungry um now I knew more or less how it would be because you know I watched videos but it is really impressive in real life and the fact that they’re still Excavating there’s still things underneath that they haven’t found is just phenomenal
Like my husband and I even watch the the movie Pompei after because we were like oh my God how did these people live before you know how was this town bured for so long and then we’re like how did they not know this volcano was coming
Turns out it took about 15 minutes to destroy the whole town and it was during a festival of like a volcano God or something so a lot there were a lot of people visiting the town and they thought that the vo the earthquakes that they were feeling was kind of like the
Gods responding to their festivities something like that is what I understood there’s so much history um I’m by means no expert in Pompei or archaeological history at all I’m just saying this place if you ever visit Naples or um serenta or southern Italy this just add
It to your list because it’s truly a unique experience so we also ended up booking this wine tour Bosco de Medi um on the same day on Pompei so a mistake I made was when I booked the tour I didn’t do the one so there’s different tours
And I’m going to leave the link below in the tour I didn’t book the one with the transportation so I messaged them um and actually I had to change dates which they were very flexible about due to due to the weather because if you see it’s
Going to be pouring rain going to Pompei which is outside is not an ideal thing I also um so they were pretty nice they were very flexible with that and I wasn’t sure how the wine tasting was going to be if it’s like a group if they
Wait for us since they had like the time slots so there was some confusion with the transportation they ended up coming really late with the transportation but I really should have called sooner and since things were changed last minute I’m going to say it’s not their fault
Because I also booked the wrong ticket to begin with Etc so it was €1 15 cash to go1 15 cash to come back so if you’re in a group that’s not bad if you’re a single person you might want to consider um looking at the lift price to get
There cuz it was about a 10 minute ride but there was traffic it wasn’t that far the winery now once we got to the wiy finally I was glad to know that the tasting was individual by table so that was great we were greeted by a young man
Who I think his name was Franchesco and he was delightful he was so knowledgeable he spoke really fast but he greeted us with some prco and also showed us some the barrels and the old style barrels that they have um and then we walked to the restaurant part now in
The restaurant part we were it was like six glasses it was a great experience first of all the quality of the wine because it is grown there by Mount vuia so volcanic it’s Unique you’re not going to find another grape like that um so there was like a really unique Rosé
Which the color was super different um I ended up buying that the pero and the white one I I usually don’t like white wine but it was so good um and we had also a great host I forgot his name right now but he was just delightful in
How he served the wines and then you actually get food so there was like a little entree of salami and cheese then you get little pasta dish and dessert so for the price totally worth it great customer service then Franchesco took us on a golf tour of the winery itself
Telling us about the history they also have horses there people come and train with their horses with competition um and just the history of the winery it used to belong to the mediche family I believe it was sold to another group I’m not exactly sure you could check out
That info on their website um but you know Max got to try some of the grapes because they had just harvested um that was really cool too but these grapes are so unique overall was just such a fantastic experience then we took the trans person sttion back to the train
Station and we took our train in the afternoon I think around maybe 5:00 and then we got home and we were so stuffed that day that we didn’t even have dinner I think we just ate more of the snacks that we had at our apartment and then we
Fell asleep overall it was a fantastic day I strongly recommend if you’re going to Pompei and you like wine for you to do Pompei and this one tour if you have any questions let me know below and I’m going to leave the links here of the
