Fayoum Oasis | Ancient Crocodile City of Egypt | رحلة بالموتسيكل الى الفيوم
Welcome to fume just leaving the waterfalls and look at This this is one of the oldest pyramids in Egypt They good morning from Egypt I am going to a Desert Oasis called fume and fayum is actually very close to kaido it is maybe 100 km Southwest from the city so it should only take me a few hours to drive there in fume there’s going to be some lesser known pyramids
To see there are some waterfalls out in the desert Ancient whalebones Temple rooms there’s a lot to see there a lot of his so I’m very excited to go to experience it myself and also to show you guys let’s go Yal Oh A Oh okay sh huh oh uh Malatin A Welcome to fume so there is so much history here you guys I don’t even know where to start fume is known for its agricultural aspects like fishing and farming um going back to prehistoric times archaeologists have found evidence of um Hunter gather communities living here the settlement came into existence
Well over 4,000 years ago uh started by the ancient Egyptians it was during the Old Kingdom it was called shet uh was a agricultural center for them as well as a center for sobec the crocodile headed god of Ancient Egypt after the conquest of Alexander the Great The Oasis
Continued to be an Agricultural Center uh the Greeks and the Romans like the Greco Roman period had used it as as Agricultural Center as well the Greeks called it crocodopolis it was also important during the Christian period when Christians were building monasteries here using it as sort of a
Refuge after the conquest of Egypt by the Arabs in the 7th Century it continued to be an agricultural center and up until the ottoman times as well so and it still is today there’s still a lot of fishing and farming here so for thousands of years this Oasis has been
Used used as an Agricultural Center um and it’s just incredible there’s a lot of greenery here if you haven’t noticed and palm trees and yeah it’s just Gorgeous I have arrived to my Hotel hostel it is called el Fara Camp it’s beautiful in here it’s like a little garden hi so there’s two golden Retrievers M and they brought me tea H delicious I’ll show you my Room so bathroom so shower check got a mirror two mirrors actually and Beds which is great so I only paying 16 $16 a night for this it was the cheapest thing that I could find online I was looking and a lot of things seem to be quite expensive
But this was a decent deal for fume that I found so and it’s beautiful yeah it’s very beautiful here I just found out from Ahmed the guy at the hostel that a lot of things close at 2:00 p.m. so I am going to I was going to drive to Valley
Of the whales which I will tell you more about later but I don’t have time for that it’s too far away so I’m going to head to a temple KAS karon so let’s get on the bike again y check out this Temple before they Close yeah watch it Hi hey huh oh-h come okay Shum Ah GG yeah nice to meet you what what Hi um what time does this site close and then close what time does it close 4:00 it closes Okay am ah oh fore Fore welcome to kaser karon so thousands of years before the dams were built to keep the crocodiles at Bay from the uh on the Nile this Temple existed and it is an honor or Built To Worship the crocodile ancient Egyptian crocodile God sock I think This So built in the 4th Century BCE that is 2,400 years Ago and I was told on the 21st of December the Sun hits outside directly to Here wow wonder where that Goes I wanted to go down There I said no for spee Spe So the Croc crocodile headed God Sobec yeah for those of you that didn’t know fume is a center of worship um for the crocodile head of God sobec and there’s a lot of temples dedicated to him in this area there’s remnants of someone here but the Torso the the upper torso’s Missing yeah so I read actually online that there was ancient crocodile EGS found next to like an old pool in different parts of fume as well so there’s a lot of history and it was definitely a center of worship for SOC they also have kimomo which is further
South in between uh Lua and Aswan but this is was like the center of worship for sobec thousands of years ago so crazy to think about this Temple existing 2000 400 years ago when there was a a whole settlement out here of people now this is All That Remains I think those are rues of old buildings that are completely demolished now completely eroded with time this these police are like following me around the security guys but they told me I couldn’t film with my camera and I was just like what acting stupid so they let me but I wish they
Weren’t following me around I feel a little bit Rushed so yeah back to um fume being like the center for sobec this was you know around the toic period so at the end of the BCS and into like ads but there was very um like I said a center of worship so much so that when
Like the Greeks and the Romans were here they called it the Greeks called it crocodilopolis so you can imagine the amount of like crocodiles and eggs and worships and statues and temples that were dedicated to SOC pretty amazing and that’s off very sand stormy Valley of the whales it’s ancient
Whalebone fossils from 37 million years Ago when Egypt was tropical essentially a low tropical sea look at all of these shells I found I got lost I was told this road was not very good at this point I’m not turning back cuz I don’t know how far I’ve gone and it keeps giving me the same directions Oh
A desert oasis with waterfalls, millions of years old whale bone fossils, rare Middle Kingdom Egyptian Temples, ruined cities forgotten in the sand, and some of Egypt’s oldest pyramids. With almost no tourists in sight?! Sign me up. Welcome to the Fayoum Oasis, just 2 hours drive southwest from Cairo out in the Western Desert of Egypt. Come with me as I ride my motorcycle from Cairo to explore this oasis and witness all the incredible history and beautiful landscapes one can find here. Yalla!

Another great video! I love watching Egypt go by while you ride your bike. Thank you for introducing simple words in Arabic during your excursions.
We've been to Meidum and Lahun two weeks ago. They are such amazing places, but not many tourists visit them, which makes them even better. Crawling through mastaba 17 was definitely the spotlight of the day!
Hi, have never considered going out to Fayoum before but after watching this might make trip one day. A great video look forward to next instalment. Thank u
love your content
I am loving the effort you put into your videos – the history, information, camerawork, everything. I really appreciate your consistency in making videos too.
Wow Gigi! That’s super brave. You’re amazing 👍👍🙏
Gisele is intrepid… I respect her for this
It is always nice to learn something new with travel videos. I never had heard about the crocodile God. Thanks for introducing me to it.

I was at Wadi Hittan that day and saw you entering the museum. Glad you're doing a piece on Fayoum. We loved it and will be back.
as an Egyptian i thank you so much for this videos
You don’t worry about snakes and scorpions in those places in the desert?
Omg you did it by yourself with a motorcycle? You're such a brave af 😂❤
I swear, traffic in Cairo was worse than last time…but I did drive, ride in south east Asia against my better judgment and I survived, go with the flow, that's what they say. Just like Thailand. How's your new bike?
Al Fayum is the capital of the free range organic chicken raising in Egypt, best chicken
𓊨𓏏𓄿𓈖
This representation combines the symbols for "S" (𓊨), "b" (𓏏), and "k" (𓄿), which are the consonants in the name Sobek. The symbol "𓈖" at the end is a determinative that indicates the divine nature of the figure
It is normally that a security personnel follows you around in such places. NOT all people has GOOD intentions!!
Love ur videos
I didn't know anything about that beautiful temple until mow !! Thank you for the nice trip👍. I was sad that you were the only " tourist" in there though, a bit worried also because I kept expecting a mummy or a skeleton suddenly jumping on you from those dungeons LOL 😄. Watching too much Indiana Jones these days.
