Zermatt Travel Guide – Best Things To Do in Zermatt Switzerland
Hey guys we’re Ian and Anna and we’ve been on a 30-day road trip in Switzerland we’re currently at our very last stop so in today’s video we can’t wait to share with you the best things to do in Zer good morning it’s about 5:30 a.m.
And we are making our walk to the train station to get into to zermat if you guys don’t know zermat is a carless town so you can’t drive in you’re going to have to take a train from TSH there’s a massive parking lot we decided to stay
At a campsite just because it saves us a little money and our vans are home so we kind of like staying with it we’re about a 30 minute walk at our campsite now we only have four more days in the shangan zone and if you haven’t been following
Our whole journey I’ll have it right here in the playlist for you guys to check out but we shipped our van all the way from the US to Europe and we’re on month three so after 90 days you have to leave the shangan zone for a total of 90
Days so we’re going to be heading over to Serbia and Eastern Europe countries until that next 90 days is up and then we’ll head on a huge fall road trip we were in lern yesterday and to get down to zermat we took the scenic route as my
Dad would say we did the FKA pass which is one of the most beautiful roads in all of Europe it’s very zigzaggy up up up up and down down down we even pulled up to an edge and opened our back doors cuz the view was incredible so if you
Are driving to Zera and not taking a train definitely hit that road Up round trip train tickets to zermat are 16 Fran per person but if you have the Swiss half card it cuts it right in half so it was only 16 total for us I will have the Swiss half card link down in the description below and I recommend
That if you’re staying longer than 3 to 4 days because it cuts cost by 50% on Transportation Like Trains cable cars Etc so definitely check that out and save a lot of money down below I’m just taking my time just taking my time as
You guys can see if you get up early you beat the crowds it’s about 6:20 a.m. and no one in Sight we got up the train right there and now we’re headed to gner gr bond which will take us up to the lake the first train ride up is at 7:00 a.m. and that’s the one we’re on right now that’s the one you want to get on
For the best Reflections that this Lake we’re going to we actually got our tickets for this train on gety guide and then we were able to pick them up right on Kos it says pick up online reservations so that things up a little Bit this Cog wheel train has been running for over 125 years since 1898 and it’s been taking people up to the most beautiful viewpoints of the matter horn biggest tip here is to sit on the right side on the way up so you get the best views and of course on the left
Side on the way down now we’re going to get off at our next stop and walk about 10 minutes to the lake I’m just taking my time we just got off the second last stop BR buen I think I said that right we’re about to hike to see that
Reflection on the lake it’s 7:35 hoping to get there by 8 wow right off this train stop I am blown away you got these glaciers snow up here it’s July and then a beautiful view of the matter horn not only are there less people in the
Morning but you get to see the matter horn like this usually sometimes you might get screwed over and have clouds but the mornings and sunsets are the best time to see it because midday usually clouds roll in and cover it Me we made it to rivil Sea Lake right behind me you see the matter horn this is our first time seeing it it is absolutely incredible and the reflection there’s nothing better than a good Mountain Lake reflection there’s like a couple people here so we don’t have it
All to ourselves but enough to ourselves so definitely come early but my favorite part was there was this dog and like I’m just watching it swim because I love dogs and Ian goes oh everyone’s pissed because the dog created a ripple that ruined the reflection it was the best
For like 5 minutes the coolest part is right around the corner we get to see a glacier so we’re going to take you there Next you know how they say like most beautiful places are the hardest to reach but it was the easiest thing we’ve reached the entire trip we got so unlucky at the top of Europe it was really cloudy and foggy you couldn’t see anything so this is even better than the
Top of Europe yeah we didn’t see anything up there also you could hear the snow melting here it is July so the heat is coming and all the way down that’s what makes all these Glacier Lakes you that tired yeah not a a bad spot to suntan though switzland is just
Unreal it’s one of my favorite places we’ve ever been now we’re going to take the train all the way up to gorag grat for a 360ยฐ View and one of the best viewpoints of this whole region something cool about this train ride is that you could do it year round 365 days
A year so imagine this all being snow it’s probably like a WI win Wonderland up here and with those train views you can’t beat it summer or winter because it’s one of the most scenic train rides we’ve taken so far in Switzerland it is now 9:30 a.m. and we are at the very top gorog this is one of the best view points in zerat it’s literally night and day to how pack the first train we were on to this train this is Disney World this is all the
Crowds you can never think of definitely get off at the stop that we did after seeing these mountain bikers right here this looks like the perfect mountain bike trail so if anyone’s interested in that pretty sure you can just rent in Zer bring it up on the train and go down
Just so you guys know we’ll always have campsites experiences secret spots all linked down in the description below of our videos doesn’t cost you anything more the ticket prices are the same it just gives us a little Kickback so if you’re staying in zount you’re probably wondering how you get from place to place especially because there’s no cars here they do have a little loophole they’re kind of like cars I would consider them golf carts that hotels and taxi services use here and they just whiz you around we’re
Going to get a snack before we head up to the five lakes hike and get some lunch up there we’ve eaten more sandwiches from Co-op this trip than any other thing they’re really good fast easy cheap to get up to the five lakes hike you will start in zermat and go on a
Finic that goes right through the mountain to a place called suniga from there you’ll hop on a cable car all the way up to blow herd finally made it up to blow herd and about 25 minutes all the way from the bottom and now we’re
Going to take a 30 minute hike to this restaurant called flu up we actually got it recommended To Us by a local here they said it’s delicious Swiss food up there year round so if you can see way way in the distance that’s where we just
Wear at gner garage but the cool thing about coming down on elevation wise is getting to see a bunch of wild flowers up there it was just rock and gravel so I made the mistake of going uphill make sure to follow your Google Maps or whatever you’re using to get
Down to the restaurant it’s down there and the Lake’s right there and I brought us all the way up here and made us waste energy and time so make sure to take the down Trail if you’re going to come to Switzerland and get the beer definitely get the appen other beer this is the wheat one but the logger one’s also delicious these have been the best all over Switzerland you can get them everywhere and look at this view an we
Got cheers to our last drink in is Switzerland cheers so flu the restaurant we’re at right now is also a mountain hut where you can like spend the night we did this in sheer um it was about 2 hours from here we did an amazing hike
Over there and I got a big salad and I got a famous dish here called Roi which has basically a potato pancake with eggs and and then I got bacon with it I think this is the most expensive place we’ve been to so far my salad was like 26 Bron
Yeah and my RO she was how much in I think it was 32 32 for just a lot for like potato and eggs but it comes with bread and salad so that’s true there m must be the most expensive spot in Switzerland we’ve been having such a fun
Day and the weather is immaculate so we decided to just keep it going up next we’re headed to a cable car to Glacier Paradise apparently it’s another amazing Viewpoint as you see in the distance the clouds are starting to roll in today in about 2 to 3 hours it’s supposed to
Start raining or get really cloudy so we got to rush to the cable car let’s Go dream we made it to the glacier Paradise Cable Car fun fact this is actually the highest cable car in the entire world so that’s a really cool little record they’ve got going on Long Way to the Top unfortunately we didn’t realize that it closes at 4: so by the
Time we get there we’ll only have about 30 minutes to explore but we’ll let you know if that’s enough time if this whole thing is worth it so on our way up I want to give you guys our perfect 7day itinerary for Switzerland we were here for 30 days but
I’m going to compact it cuz I know a lot of you don’t have that amount of time first I would fly in dessert cuz it’s going to be the cheapest airport to fly into and there you have to decide if you’re just going to take trains through
Switzerland or rent to car if you have a big group like four people rent a car it’s going to be your cheapest option stay at campsites and where I would go first is interlocking I would spend four to 5 days there cuz you have mirin you have ler brunin vangan roval and even
Interlockin with the lake so that whole area is amazing and one of our favorites throughout all Switzerland then I would take trains or your car up to Stew hike which was by far my favorite hike of the entire country next to stews is lucern about 25 minutes away from that hike
It’s actually got voted the prettiest City in all of Switzerland and then you could head to chapler Ridge after that and I think we’re on day six and then I’d come all the way down to zermat and end the trip with a day trip kind of
Like we did and if you’re unlucky I’m sorry but if you’re lucky with weather that’s that’s going to be a perfect trip for you guys there’s zermat very small that small Valley way down there and then you have the M horn Straight Ahead this is
Wild all around you you get a 360ยฐ view of snowy mountains this is just an incredible okay what col okay I’m super confused I didn’t know we get on to a whole different Gondola and this one’s a massive one and it also said to Italy I’m guessing this
Is a spot in the winter time where you’re able to oh gosh oh God where you’re able to ski all the way from Switzerland to Italy which is super cool I can’t believe we have this Gondola all to ourselves it’s so nice it is so nice take a Naping wow get to see this massive massive gler this is probably the closest I’ve ever gotten to this big of a glacier in my life we’re almost getting there guys as you see we’re way up There and I just said that this looks like where the Grinch Liv hille is right way way way way way way down There right now we are at the panoramic Viewpoint and we can see 14 Peaks above 4,000 M it’s a little chilly not too cold just just a little windy I’m perfectly comfortable in a sadly the matter horn is covered up by clouds it’s around 300 p.m. so I told you guys later
In the day the clouds come and cover it where we’re at right now is actually considered the highest mountain station in all of Europe but it’s funny cuz when we were at Young Ya that’s the highest train seaship in all of Europe yeah Switzerland marketing is topnotch they
Are definitely good at it just as good as Dubai is because Dubai seems to have the world record and everything too walking through the Blazer we already did an ice palace at Young y comparing the two this one looks a little more natural like the other one
Was more sculpted so kind like this one yeah it does feel like we are under a glacier right now are we actually I don’t know someone tell us down in the comments below cuz this is really really cool touch an ice right here My that was a 13-hour day we started at 5:00 a.m. it’s almost 6:00 p.m. we were walking back to our campsite 30 minutes officially dead and this is our last day of filming of a 3mon journey across Europe so check out all those videos right up here anna how tired are you oh
Guys it’s bad I’ve really been pushing through now I just need to shower and then I’ll feel a little better cuz I feel so disgusting right now we love you guys and tomorrow we’re going to be making the 13-hour car drive all the way to Belgrade Serbia where we’ll be
Spending the next like 40 days editing relaxing seeing Anna’s family so make sure to subscribe press that like button peace oh my life i’ been searching for the right way to keep my
Zermatt is one of the most iconic mountain town’s in Switzerland especially because it has the most photographed mountain in the world, the Matterhorn. This Zermatt Switzerland travel guide will show you the best things to do in this tiny carless town. First we went on the Gornergrat train up to Riffelsee Lake to see the Matterhorn reflection on it’s waters. After we headed back down to Zermatt to take a funicular & cablecar up to Blauherd which is the strating point to the Five Lakes Hike. Up here we had an amazing lunch at Fluhalp Mountain Hut which has breathtaking views of the Matterhorn. Last but not least we took the highest cable car in the world up to Glacier Paradise. This place blew our mind because we got to see a massive glacier and you even get a chance to hop over to Italy if you want. We hope this Zermatt guide helps you with your exciting trip

11:39 I grew up in a neighborhood called Heavenly Heights. My street was Alps Road, and you have to take Mr. Everest, to Mt. Marcy, to Matterhorn to get there. Funniest partโฆ our neighborhood was FLAT as can be!!! ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Was this filmed in January? ๐
Thank you for this video. Just subscribed. This is my sign to book the trip for September.
Nice place. Thanks for sharing
I know I sound like a broken record, but these Switzerland videos are mind blowing. The quality of the edit, the music, the scenery, it's just incredible. You guys are in a class by yourself when it comes to Travel vloggers on YouTube.
Switzerland the most cheapest country in europe near with denmark ,iceland ,norway , Luxembourg :))) i mean all of thm have something in common 1 bottle of 500 ml of water 6 euro into suerpermarket
What month of the year were you guys there? TIA
Whatโs the name of the song starting at 4:11!?
Another stunning journey. Thanks for taking us along. My wife gets irritated because I keep saying, "come here, you gotta see this". Beautiful people, places and things courtesy of Ian and Ana. Love ya. Stay safe. โค๐
What month was this video made? Thanks
Zermatt is amazing
Hi guys – love your videos. We are coming to Switzerland in June and would love your opinions on a couple things: if you could only do one, would it be Jungfraujoch or glacier paradise (I know you had bad clouds at jungfraujoch)? Also, I donโt know if weโll have time for both Interlaken / Jungfrau region and Zermatt. Which would you choose if you could only go to one region? Thanks!
Video is very well filmed but I find your commentary a bit hectic – less talking would suffice and at a slower pace. It might be my computer but I found the sound track on this video a little fuzzy !
