Crossing Into Slovenia & Exploring Lake Bled! | Bikepacking Across Europe Ep. 13
We are bike packing 2500 miles across Europe from London to Istanbul Turkey in this video we cross into country number8 of the trip slania this is officially the second half of our trip and travel with our new bike Packer friends down to the beautiful Lake Blood good morning everybody we are by this beautiful lake with mountains everywhere and we have some friends with us hello and we’ve made Hello we met them yesterday and now we’re all having breakfast by this beautiful Lake and I wanted to introduce you guys to them cuz they’re all on
Their own Journeys and I think you guys might find that interesting so you want to like say your name and introduce yourself and your journey why not I’m Simon I’m from Germany 92 years old and at the moment I go to Slovenia and then after halfway I’m not sure takes where
It goes and much love I’m Mari from Belgium uh I’ve been biking now for about a month from Belgium to we are in Italy now um and I’m all doing by myself and and I think that’s the most uh beautiful experience stay tuned to the end of the
Video where Simon and Marie dive into their experiences as solo bike Packers all right we are just getting started for the day we left the beautiful Lake and we are on our our way to sloania the e8th country of our trip so we camp in Italy last night really close to slania border which I’m excited for and we’re about halfway now just Crazy we made it to Sania woohoo exciting to be in another country and this is officially the second half of our Trip traffic jam here yeah let’s C got out of that I know we just barely made it to Sania but it’s already incredibly beautiful here mountains and Forest all around us so beautiful I seriously can’t get over how gorgeous slania has been like I want to
Come back to these Julian Alps and do some hiking here or tracking so gorgeous there Greenery Everywhere [Applause] All right guys so we seem to be having some navigational challenges since we’ve been in Sylvania I don’t know if we got off path at some point but me and Simon are totally content letting Marie and Alex figure it out and go up all these Hills and we’ll just stay
Behind I think they went up the wrong way I’m guessing now yeah I’m super happy I got yesterday a new bike rack because my other my other front bike rack what I had was not good so okay we decided we’re going to make a new one I
Know I have even a better a better option I have the good one what I bought yesterday for the B with that is not going in the wheels anymore yes and now the bad one what I had before from before at the bag I got now at the front and I’m super
Happy and you got this little rock here with everything now I don’t need to carry the bag over my over my shoulder and my shoulder is like oh oh my God so so now I’m super happy loving it yeah trusted leaders where do we
Go yeah I think we can go we think we can try a small other way we don’t want to go to the main Ro there’s a slight diversion here wow beautiful let’s see if it tells me where’s the B yeah up thank you thank you vaa Sania always informs us of the grade
14% just made it to triglavski National Park after going up a very intense Hill on a busy Road woohoo made it to BL we made it to blood we still hav’t seen the lake yet we still have all our friends yeah we made it how many Hills did we go up [Laughter] 100 there’s the lake and the church Oh my god wow that’s deep is it it’s so deep let go do you feel that wow it’s so blue wow look at this so cool I’ve been obsessed with going to Sania for years and we’re finally here swimming in the lake which I didn’t even
Think about do doing before but here we are in the lake the church in and it’s so beautiful really ISO after circling the lake we met some other bike Packers from Austria and enjoyed the sunset to round out one of our favorite days of the entire trip good morning everybody from Lake bled we lost you last night but we had a good time we ended up meeting some other bike
Packers from Austria hung out the lake and then went to our hotel so we’re going to be exploring Lake blood area for the full day today we’re starting first off with a hike we just met up with Simon and Marie and we good morning and we are doing the Mala Oita
Hike and supposed to have a really nice view of the Lake that is a crazy steep Staircase we made it to the top here it is gorgeous it’s a really great way to just like take in how impressive this area is I think we’re about 500 ft above the lake or so it wasn’t that hard of a hike it’s like a mile1 round trip it’s
Beautiful you can see the church the iconic island of the church in the center and you can see the castle on the hill in the distance super beautiful and I think one thing I didn’t and it’s hard to I think capture is that how big the mountains are all around that I didn’t
Anticipate but you just have gorgeous Giant mountain surrounding this Lake Beautiful thanks for everything pleasure to meet you guys thank you thank you you’re going to see you again yes after saying goodbye to who was continuing his journey we headed over to blesy Castle and stopped in a church along the Way after hiking up to the castle we were ready for a treat when I was researching Foods Transylvania this thing constantly came up it’s the blood cream cake and everyone seems to Rave about it and you guys know how much I love whipped cream so this is very
Exciting guess you just oh it’s going to get all ruined I think there’s no there’s no uh good way to eat this completely destroyed Much that is good it’s very creamy I think it’s really good I’m a little worried that you’re not going to like it though it’s so vanilla after having some cake we had to say goodbye to Marie who was continuing her journey elsewhere we were sad to part ways with
Our new friends but we were so glad that we got to meet them and travel with them this is hilarious to me we saw some many machines in the distance we got up close we saw they sell milk cheese meats and eggs never would have thought especially
The eggs would be in a vending machine that is hilarious I don’t know how they don’t break it I almost want to try out to see how it is we don’t need eggs as I said it’s easier as uh to to be alone because uh I make my own
Decision I go wherever I want I don’t have to check and consult with someone else uh if I want to eat I eat if I don’t I don’t it’s no problem um and yeah of course it’s difficult at some point uh like when you do white camping it can be a little bit
Uh not scary but you are always wondering is it an animal is it someone going to tell me that I have to leave or whatever but it’s also easier because I only have one bike to hide and one tent to hide um yeah it’s there is as everything good
And bad sides uh but mostly I love it otherwise I would not do it yes and she’s super hardcore I was telling her I I I would be way too scared while camping by myself way too scared I get scared scared with me sometimes what was that there’s someone outside our
There if you want to know my first night I was so kind of scared because I have done it before but it’s always the first time re you redo stuff like going back on the adventure is always like oh how I was supposed to do this yeah and so I
Realized that if you write down stuff on a book uh like a handwriting book and I was like am I what am I afraid of and I listed the things and then I try to be more uh what’s the word in English like realistic if I’m scared of that noise
It’s probably just an animal and they leave during night so it’s okay it’s not going to do anything I was uh I don’t know what other stuff scared me but I would write it down and then I feel like relax because it’s it’s only we we are
More afraid of the impossible TS does that makes any sense like it’s we imagine more stuff that could be scary instead of it just what it is it’s an animal it’s they are not going to do anything on tent I always say that when I left the one spot there is only the
Place where the tent was because of the mark it depends on the wood there is not that but that’s the only Mark you should left when you yeah cool well guys if you aren’t inspired by these two solo bike Packers to go out on your own even if
You don’t have a partner you definitely should definitely have you had any scary incidences in the last month no anything nothing see guys nothing it’s in the head yeah yeah yeah it’s absolutely amazing and it’s not scary at all to be on your own as they said before it’s
Absolutely amazing and if you want to know more about my travel just look at my accounts we’re going to put them in the channel I guess and put them on the screen yeah put them on the screen and then it’s it’s easy there’s no reason to be scared just maybe the beer in
Slovania but if youw about that everything is all right just go with the flow enjoy and spread love we’re going to be following parts of the West Loop today I guess we’re taking the adventurous route this is maybe the strangest place that we’ve camped so Far
We cross into Slovenia country #8 of our bikepacking trip across Europe. We explore Lake bled and meet some awesome new bikepacking friends along the way who tell you guys what it’s like to bike pack solo.

Sick Vid, I'm currently travelling Europe by van, awesome to see it from another perspective!
I’m leaving London on march 1st to do the same and I’ve just discovered your videos about an hour ago so now I’m currently binge watching them, have you encountered any issues along your way or with people or anything similar
Long time Subscriber and really appreciate all effort you guys put in these and share them for free so we can watch. One thing that makes it hard to watch your current videos is the extra large sun visors/bonnet. I get why…… they are just very distracting………. . Thank you very much! Wishing you both much happiness. You guys Rock!
100% agree with Marie.
Yay! New friends and more gorgeous scenery ❤ And I’m with Marie – always a solo hiker, camper and traveler!

In 2022, a woman in my early 50's, I spent 10 weeks solo bike touring Europe. First time bike touring, first time in Europe. It was an amazing experience and I honestly think being a solo woman opened so many doors to me. I met so many lovely people and enjoyed great hospitality. Heading back to Europe in May this year for another 10 week bike tour and I can't wait. My message to anyone who may be a intimidated by the idea of travelling solo is, don't be. If I had listened to my own doubts and all the well meaning friends and family who said maybe it wasn't such a good idea, I would have missed one of the most empowering and greatest experiences of my life. There are so many places and ways to travel – take a baby step or a big step – whatever you can live with and just go for it.
I bike pack by myself all the time, maybe being a 67 year old woman helps but the world is not a scary as the media would have us believe. Lovely new friends you found Liz and Alex
