Of kalal lur to a place called Batu Caves I’m going to show you something interesting off the train this is interesting uh they have a coach for ladies only on the train I wasn’t riding in this coach atou caves is just outside of quala lumpor in in another town and

It’s had its own train stop it is absolutely amazing place um it’s an ancient site for Hindus and it is one of the largest Hindu complexes outside of U outside of India the uh the caves are over 400 million years old and um they have deities

Inside I’m going to try to explore it a little bit monkeys roam freely around here and they take treats from the uh from the guests is absolutely spectacular is beyond description and this is the gateway to the caves the entrance to Batu Caves is guarded by the

Statue of the Hindu goddess murugan the statue is the tallest statue in all of Malaysia it is the fifth tallest Hindu statue in the world it’s 43 M or 140 ft tall there are 272 colorfully painted steep concrete steps to get to the top which is the

Only entrance and exit to the caves there is no elevator so the only way to go up and down are those steep stairs there are many Mobility impaired devotees on the stairs who you will see struggling to get up these stairs in order to pray and

Worship and those of the stairs into the cave this is a closer view of the uh deity and the statue guarded by monkeys and then other deities and statues everywhere else the monkeys at Batu Caves are very peaceful and not at all a nuisance they are essentially part of the Shrine in

The temple and fed by the worshippers and Priests just a reminder that in Hinduism Hanuman is a monkey God featured in the religious book The ramayana you come here make sure you eat good breakfast and lunch well before 12:00 noon because this is quite a climb this is how far I’ve climbed so

Far and you saw where I have to get to and there’s the back of the statue in the distance is the city of qual lur when you get to the top you see the caves and it’s um there’s it’s free admission to get in which is very

Interesting um going into the caves like this reminds me of that movie 13 lives which is available on Netflix which you should definitely see about going into a cave in Southeast Asia but here I go enter the main cave there are then many more caves and uh it’s Limestone Rock so

There is water dripping on you and that’s why the floor is wet but uh the word Batu in Malay language means Rock so literally this Temple means Rock caves the caves are 400 million years old and have 21 different species of bats there’s deities everywhere and there’s uh shrines and temples the caves

Are free to enter But if you enter the temples you have to take off your shoes and you have to pay a small fee to get inside it’s not a major feed but uh yeah it’s just one of the temples that are here more stairs whether you come to see

The colorful deities and sculptures or you’ve come to see this great Limestone cave this is one of the most spectacular sites I have seen and I’m well over 60 years old um and I’ve seen St Paul’s Cathedral in London uh Notre Dam in Paris um the Vatican Cathedral to Seville and

Lately the Camila mosque um which is in istambul this is quite something out of this world women may have their own car to ride the train but women have to have their legs covered when they go into the temple men don’t men can wear shorts women can’t on my journey back I passed

Through KLCC the kaala lumur city center and I wanted to show you that building close up that I showed you yesterday from that park across from the Patronis Towers that’s that luxury condo I showed you with the plants growing all up and down the side of the building

It’s really gorgeous I got to say uh close up uh it’s a very tropical country quite humid year round so you know it’s easy to keep the plants around and they’re even on the the roof up there it’s quite quite something I visit a new country I’d like to uh take a video

Of where the head of state lives um this is the Royal Palace which is the official residence of the king and queen of Malaysia and there is no entrance uh I’ve been walking around for good 15 minutes uh but this is the Royal grounds I can see pieces of the building back

There but uh there’s nothing else uh to give you a perspective there’s the wardis Mika tower that I showed you yesterday which is the second tallest building in the entire world uh and uh there’s the central where I’m staying but uh yeah I can’t get in so anyway at

Least you’ve seen the outside of it that’s uh my video for today I’m back at uh the court in the mall next to my hotel I hope you enjoyed the video if you have any questions or comments I welcome them thank you for watching please subscribe post a like and hit the

  1. The palace you showed is the "old" palace. It has been left unattended for few years now.The new ones are few kilometers away. There are plans (not really sure though) to turn the old palace into a muzeum. The prime minister's official residence is in Putrajaya, about 45 minutes drive out of KL.
