Mont Saint-Michel: Visiting Northern France with MSC | Travel Vlog in France

Hello everyone! This was day five of our cruise on MSC Euribia. We visited Mont Saint-Michel in France. We were blessed with good weather and had a fulfilling day. We’d be happy if you all enjoy this video. Please watch it till the end.

The cruise ship arrived at the port of Le Havre in France. We rented a car that we had reserved at the port and set off for Mont Saint-Michel. It was a journey of about two and a half hours! We had reserved an automatic car but… it turned out to be a manual one.

When reserving, Marc mentioned that he had the impression that there were many manual cars in France, but we didn’t expect this… People who can’t drive a manual should be careful. We’ve arrived at the parking lot! It’s about a 20-minute walk from the parking lot to Mont Saint-Michel.

There was a shuttle bus, but it was quite crowded, so we decided to walk. When you think of Mont Saint-Michel, you imagine an island surrounded by the sea, but on this day, the tide was out. The tides around Mont Saint-Michel change throughout the year, not just during a specific ‘period,’

But daily according to the lunar cycle. When planning a trip to Mont Saint-Michel, it seems better to check the schedule in advance on the official website or at tourist information centers! Since we wore boots, let’s stop by the tidal flats on the way back. Finally, we’re heading inside Mont Saint-Michel! Hmm…

It’s too crowded… They might need to limit the number of people entering. From here everybody was waiting to enter the abbey. We had bought our tickets online, so we could enter without waiting. It seemed tough to wait on the stairs due to the crowd,

So it’s probably a good idea to buy tickets online. Just a little more to climb…! Mont Saint-Michel and its bay were registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979. They are appreciated for their natural beauty and historic architecture. By the way, do you know what kind of place Mont Saint-Michel is?

Mont Saint-Michel is a Gothic-style abbey with a long history dating back to the 8th century. After the first chapel was built, it became an important Christian pilgrimage site. Starting from the early chapel, Mont Saint-Michel expanded over centuries into a large abbey. In later times, it also served as a fortress for defense,

Especially during the Hundred Years’ War, becoming a crucial defensive point for France and a battleground for the English and French armies. I’m embarrassed to say, but until a few years ago, I thought Mont Saint-Michel was a castle. That’s why I thought it had a fortress! Speaking of the population,

About 30 to 50 residents live there. Most of them are probably involved in businesses here. Fewer residents than we thought…? Inside the building, being an abbey, there’s hardly anything. If you’re expecting lavish decorations or stained glass windows like in a castle, you might be a bit disappointed. We finally made it outside~

It was a bit tiring inside due to the crowd. Personally… I felt Mont Saint-Michel looked more charming from the outside than inside. Now, let’s head back to the port. Our journey in Mont Saint-Michel ends here. Did you enjoy this video? We look forward to your subscriptions, comments, and likes.

See you in the next video. Bye!
