Better Than Venice? 🇮🇹 North Italy’s Hidden Medieval City | Treviso
[Music] [Applause] we wanted to show you how beautiful the city of Treviso is today and according to all the weather apps it was supposed to be nice and sunny Vernon what’s the what’s the weather
Like today so not only is it cold it’s not 55 like it said but it’s also extremely foggy it was extremely dangerous getting here today yeah I felt like uh we’re going to be doing like an episode of Halloween like a Horror Story instead of like a cute travisa little Venice Vibes but
Now we’re on our way to get some cappuccino and get some tiramisu you might think it’s too early but troviso is where tiramisu was created I don’t think we’re quite in uh the outside seating time yet so Vernon’s all wrapped up are you cold a little bit they got these blankets on the
Chairs which is pretty cool we’ve seen these in other places before but we never use them I mean they’re super warm it’s like wool it’s still before noon so it’s still totally acceptable to drink a cappuccino it’s not an official rule but it’s kind of like an unofficial rule yeah Italians
Will drink espressos after 12 but generally they won’t drink cappuccinos after that time especially after your meal I think that’s the worst you’ll get so many looks in Italy I love the uh portion sizes of this it’s delicious burn I think you’re going to have to go get your own
Honestly I think chisu and maybe German chocolate cake are probably my favorite desserts so we’re in the town where teramusu from so obviously there’s no other option besides this this is the Breakfast of Champions guys it’s kind of like if you turn like a chocolate cake into a yogurt that’s kind
Of what this is like so soft and there’s so much cacao on top that if you try to inhale it while you’re eating you’ll probably choke on it this is also probably one of the best tiu places in
Triso so if you do come here definitely check this place out so there’s about one bite left and since this is Vernon’s favorite dessert you’re so kind that’s basically all you left Me we have our caffeine we have our sugar hopefully that’ll keep us warm enough so prco so prco also comes from this region fun fact but anyway uh so if you look behind us what is triso
Known for so this is also called Little Venice and one of the reasons why is cuz not just because it’s really close there but the architecture is similar and there’s a ton of these little canals everywhere so if you don’t want to deal with the crowds of Venice chaos the chaos the expensiveness
And stuff like that but you still kind of want some of that Vibe this is definitely the place to check out so from Venice I think this is like maybe like a 20 25 minute train ride so you can
Literally hop on and few steps in your here and again there’s not a lot of crowds it’s really nice actually much more affordable especially if you want to have the true authentic Italian [Music] experience I always find this Fountain and I don’t understand the point of it let me show
You so if someone can explain to me uh the meaning and the purpose of that Fountain cuz every time I come here we somehow wander into this Plaza and I see it and I don’t know some
Kind of like Italian fertility Fountain is it is that what it says I don’t know it says drinkable water on the oh you can drink it ver you want to drink the water are you use useful I’m cured of
Everything honestly or I got everything I don’t know what that Fountain symbolizes all right so I actually got a description of what that Fountain over there with the uh water coming out of it is about apparently it’s from like the 16th century and 3 days out of the year I
Think they have red wine and white wine coming out of it if Chad gbt translated everything properly so we seem to be on the Main Street here uh leading to the square and all the stores you see on the sides here it’s all just shops like everything from local Italian to
Something more popular like Max Mara and yeah this is just all shops this is pretty cool and another thing I really like about Italy whenever they have these types of little shops they have those types of arcades like so you’re hidden away from the elements and
I think it’s really cool cuz that way you can go shopping and not worry if it’s raining or snowing we were walking by and I saw something that I absolutely love this time of the year so
This is another reason why you should come to Italy not only in the summertime so since it’s the beginning of Carnaval uh they have all these good fried goodies that are hundreds of years old well the recipes are anyway and if you’re not into sweets don’t worry cuz they still got the
[Music] chetti so when we were trying to go inside the church in urin it was closed let’s see if this one is open is there two next to each other I think it’s the old one well it
Is Saturday this time so last time we were in Udin it was in Sunday being here on a Saturday probably means we have more likely chance to get inside the church with nobody in [Music] it I can’t believe there’s a church underneath the church yeah this is a crypt this is not
Something that we see in every single church here in Italy there’s quite a few of them that have this I don’t really know the significance of stuff like this but it’s kind of cool it’s
Like in the church basement I want to find out how old this church is look at the uh the old neurals wow he it’s amazing we’ve been here so many times and this is the first time we’ve ever
Been inside that church I had no idea how beautiful it was inside and it has a crypt and that I mention all of this was free I mean they obviously have offerings and stuff like that they want you to donate a little bit but the crypto was probably the
Coolest part I mean you don’t really get to go into a church basement very often there are some other more famous churches around here that that have stuff like that the main plaza here is not as impressive as the one we’ve been to in UD or some of the
Other bigger cities here but I will say that even though they don’t have like you know those grand plazas here those patas they have a ton of these like little narrow streets like Venice there are just like really really well preserved and you have a ton of shops a ton of restaurants
And maybe we can check one out right now what do you think we got to yeah get some of the local Cuisine the the the T suit was good but it actually started to make me a little hungry
The coffee and the rum in there yeah my body’s like okay we need to put something for real in this these types of bars are very common you just kind of walk in grab some prco and grab I’m
Not sure what this is but it’s hot cuz I’m very cold it’s like the bread is fried and the stuff inside is hot oh damn it’s something with cheese and Pudo is really good smells amazing W I think
These were like €2 and this was 50 m so if you want affordable what did you call this bar it’s some kind of like early 2000s bar with all these little noia cell phones everywhere there was some
Britney Spirits music playing on the radio just now and I don’t think a single person in this bar is born after 2000s so yeah this is definitely for a little bit of an older crowd but it’s kind
Of a nostalgic I guess it’s very nostalgic and you know what I bet you I bet you those Nokia phones tape to the wall still work yeah unlike my iPhone sometimes so those types of cafes bars are super
Common in Italy throughout especially in Menace you just kind of pop in it’s all standing you grab something fresh a Catch of the Day or like a fresh sandwich of the day grab a glass of red
Wine for CYO I think we’re closer to noon so it’s okay and it’s totally acceptable to drink wine right now this is definitely like Venice because you get lost walking through these little streets
I think this is like the fourth time we got lost we’ve been trying to find this place to eat but honestly we might just kind of Wonder and see what we can find because Google does not work here
I don’t know what’s going on Google come on you need more satellites in Italy come on what’s going on damn I think this is the restaurant a little extra this place super local typical for pulia
Do you want eat Pula you want me try something TR no we can we can eat here this is uh pretty famous we haven’t been to pulia we have not been to pulia but there’s a very special kind
Of Village in pulia that will show you a picture of right now that you’ve probably seen pictures of it’s in a town called Albero Bellow so Mariana was looking up places to eat and I guess we just discovered this one by accident to be fair traviso is known for
Their Seafood so if you want we can check it out too bet people can’t vote on this right now yeah well I guess you guys will know where we eat if we eat here somewhere else one of the things I started doing whenever we go to restaurants anywhere not even in Italy
Uh I always when we get the olive oil I always get nosy and curious about where the oil is from usually we also try to visit it cuz a lot of wineries make their olive oil too so I’m like
Oh we’ve been to that one I’m like oh I look it up I’m like oh we should go to that one so that’s kind of like an interesting thing you can do you can actually visit the places where your
Products come from first impressions of the food it smells amazing I’ve never had anything from Kia or anything from that region we got some type of fried seafood I don’t know why they brought his second now and they brought our appetizer and I still have my second so it’s a little confusing
But either way the food’s going to be amazing that’s another thing you guys should know about Italy is that they don’t exactly bring the food out for everybody at the same time they kind of bring it out as it’s ready so you might be eating while your friend’s just sitting there looking at
An empty tablecloth we’re going to just call this cheese cheese soup Italy has a ton of different cheeses so I guess in the spirit of last week when we were in Udin I got kind of adventurous
And wanted to go with this kind of fish that I’ve never heard of I tried Googling it actually it was called a torba Rosa something I don’t know but when I Googled it all I got was bottles of
Whiskey I didn’t even get the fish so I was really W SS great it’s very crispy yeah it’s like fried panko flakes then there’s like this creamy sauce on there I hear the crunch all the way here wao
Yeah you got the potatoes over here too like we said it’s kind of weird right now because Marana didn’t get her uh her dish yet so we shared the appetizer we’re kind of sharing my dish now and
Then when they take this plate away and they bring ours in we’re just going to share that too good news they didn’t mess up our order and I did get my frto misco yeah usually it’s just like an assortment of different types of sea food like squid shrimp just an assortment of
Seafood it’s amazing it’s usually great with beer I just have white wine so like this is probably one of my favorite foods to eat in the summertime I always thought this food was bar food because it’s like little fried appetizer kind of things but yeah people actually get this stuff at like
Actual like restaurants oh wow oh wow oh my God the tentacles are too hot to pick up but I wanted to show you guys look at the tentacles Vernon always gets intimidated whenever we get stuff like like this whenever you walk around through these streets and you see all the stores oh my
God there’s a corgi oh anyway uh when you walk around through the streets and you see these windows I noticed Italians love to Window Shop especially for shoes and if you’re coming to Italy and you want to get like a really super Italian souvenir get shoes like the shoes here
Are just 10 out of 10 every single time if you dropped me here without me knowing where I am I would say I’m in Venice this is crazy hey Vern I just realized uh it doesn’t smell like you know
How you always complain that Venice smells Venice does smell it stinks not it doesn’t just smell it smells like kind of it smells like sewer but triso doesn’t smell I don’t think we smelled anything
Bad so far I think we did in a little bit in the beginning um it kind of It kind of reminded me of Venice not just the canals but the smell but now so far I think that was the fog cuz it was just
Very musty out the fog smells like sewage that’s possible but no it’s it’s really great honestly this is really cool and these people got some bizarre sculptures over here this is like the the best Venice knockoff yeah Venice I mean technically cuz you know they call it the Lal
Venice it’s a lot cheaper and there’s not going to be a difficulty in finding places to eat that are going to be good because a lot of the places in Venice are a huge scam in tourist traps you’re
Going to go in there thinking you’re going to get some authentic Venetian Cuisine but it’s not it’s really just overpriced pasta that’s really really poorly done an interesting thing though Venetian Cuisine is just Cuisine from vetto vetto is the region tro is in vetto so if you want to that’s
What I said earlier if you want to experience like a true vetto Venetian cuisine I mean 20 25 minute train ride boom true and a lot of the little chicaras all over Venice uh they’re going
To be here as well so yeah they’re like a euro to Euro Max I also really like that it’s much more like chill and relaxed here like you can walk around without trying to be hassled by anybody and honestly overall like walking around here just strolling it feels much safer I would
Say than Venice another thing is like we said about UD uh not really anybody here trying to sell you anything no scammers and basically no tourist because probably nobody knows about this place even though we’ve been to triso a few times there’s like this little island it’s super tiny
And they have I guess a fish market here but I think we missed it it seems like it’s just a fresh seafood market so if you’re staying here and you want to cook some fish some fresh seafood but I
Guess they are closed already so this is a morning thing it’s literally situated on top of the water it’s there’s a bridge to get in and a bridge to get out yeah this is like the cutest little idea
I had no idea this even existed in traviso like it’s this is it it’s just a small little market for seafood really unique smells very fishy would you eat stuff from here not your style
Not my style but the birds seem to love it I mean Jesus there’s so many of these little ducks think you of getting a house here no I mean they look a little expensive for sure they even advertised
Some of the houses that they have in Venice which €750,000 oh my God yeah for a little spot in Venice it’s probably the size of a bathroom too we’re going to the biggest Museum they have
Here and I really hope it’s it’s open cuz there wasn’t a lot of information about it I think it’s this way 30 m but what do you want to bet that there’s not going to be like any people in this
Museum oh yeah I mean this is a Civic Museum it’s a museum dedicated to the town these are like the least exciting museums in the world uh but I have high hopes for it you’ll never guess how much this
Museum costs for the two of us it was €1 and so far we’re the only ones here and they have like three museums they have a church um they have the archaeological site then they have the Art Exhibit
So for three different separate things it’s €6 each which just it feels like we’re stealing it what’s really amazing about these paintings is that a lot of them are from like the 1400s and the color and the detail is so well preserved that you would think that this was painted just [Music] yesterday
[Music] what did you think about that exhibit SL Church SL everything yeah it’s kind of interesting right they don’t really have I guess enough content for a museum so they just kind of put everything that’s historic about the city the church and everything into
Like one building so you can see you know 600y old artwork Fresco from the front of buildings paintings and and all kinds of other stuff and it was only €6 so that was definitely worth it so if you thought you had a problem trusting your neighbor just imagine like 500 years ago
This apparently is a wall city which as you can see in order to get in you’ve got these Gates that have to let you in because the rest of the city is completely walled off they even have like Moes surrounding the city which are like huge pieces of water
That prevent I guess invading forces from coming through so I guess they had real trust issues back then but yeah I guess this is one of the cool things about it you don’t really see these in a lot of cities anymore but uh there’s a couple here in this
Region this is definitely a city that’s got quite a bit to see we came here in the morning and it was kind of gloomy it got a lot better throughout the day unfortunately right now it’s probably
Going to be about Sunset soon yeah there’s a lot to see here um it’s definitely got a sort of a Venetian charm the food is very Venetian uh it’s got sort of like a moat a moat with like
These weird castle walls it’s I think it’s a very unique City especially for Northern City there’s a lot to see especially if you’re looking kind of to be more like off the beaten path like yeah everyone’s been to Venice like go to Venice but also go to triso kind of compare actual Italian
Life because not a lot of Italians live in Venice but there’s actual people that live in traviso so again like I said earlier in the video you can really like experience Italy for yourself and not just like the super overrated touristy spots yeah definitely no tourists here and it’s a lot cheaper
Than Venice or a lot of other towns in this area and surprisingly a lot of people spoke pretty good English here too so if you don’t have any Italian and you still want to be able to get by this is
Definitely a place to check out definitely stay tuned cuz we’re going to be showing you a lot more of these amazing alternatives to popular cities I mean yes you want to go to Florence you want to
Go to Milan you want to go to Verona Italy is so much more so our goal for this year is to check out all the 20 regions we’ve been to 11 out of the 20 we want to go to all 20 this year and we want
To check out as many cities there as possible and take care along for the ride so stay tuned ciao Fortress [Music] vibes

Better Than Venice? North Italy’s Hidden Medieval City | Treviso
10 Comments
Treviso has so much more to do and see, and eat 😄 Hope you get to visit this awesome city!
I have been going to Venice for over 30 years. I do agree that there is an odor sometimes when it’s hot out but not generally. I also think Venice is a fairly safe place.
Do they have good Cicchetti Bars and pizza in Treviso?
Treviso is a beautiful city, but if you want see what they call little Venice you should go to Chioggia.
Venice used to own it – it was originally an independent city state but Venice took over!
I know the place…I was born there. But I prefer Padova, more lively and Venice. Unique. Treviso is a nice little town just like tons of others we have in Italy.
I'm happy, finally I don't just see the usual cities, beautiful Venice, Rome, Florence, Milan, Naples, but the real Italy is the provinces, there are hidden gems, from Piedmont to Sicily, I could make a list but it would be very long, every region has unique beauties, excellent video, just a note, the oil we use at the table is called EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE, we don't use olive oil, they are two very different things, congratulations for having discovered a beautiful town, continue Like this
My first time visiting your channel 😃 Really like the fun vibe, tips etc. Grazie!🇮🇹 Already looking forward to checking out your other content! 🎉
I absolutely adore Treviso! And I love the foggy vibe! Thanks for sharing. ❤❤❤
The only thing about Treviso i knew was basketball club Treviso Benetton that played in the Euroleague like 20 years ago 😁 Lovely city not crowded clean amazing 👍
