Paphos Harbour Walk

Hi this is Dominic from pafor life I’m at the seafont and Harbor today I was going to walk along the uh Coast path because they’ve steadily been improving the landscape in there but uh it’s quite gray overcast and there’s a bit of rain on the way down so I’m going to uh just

Stick to the harbor and the seafont I think I’ll do the harbor first I don’t want to stay too far away from my nice dry po Pok car there’s the new bus station over there still not open not sure what’s going on there now I’m trying out a less intrusive microphone across the

Road back a bit there’s one of the chaps who helps keep the uh sea fun clean you to agree we do Sterling job the entrance to the archaological park I can feel a few raindrops on my head sure there’s a song in that somewhere the restaurant’s getting ready for the Sunday

Trade I should say it’s about 9:00 just got 9:00 on Sunday morning that’s where you go to book all your tours I’ll stick a link to uh the V tour site as well because you can book online for lots of Tours you can there a pelican he’s out

Let’s go and fill him should we cockos whatever his name is show off any sign of you man yet I’m too early for him oh no there he is Straight Ahead he’s got a cap on today motivate me motivate me because you’re going bad news today

It’s raining is it I don’t think so but just going to shower a little bit and stuff so there’s no motivation today because I just had someone who walked next door just passed away last night oh dear I ain’t got no motivation I’m sorry

To hear that he got hit by a car two weeks ago okay but he was an asylum Seeker the hospital refused to treat him and he every day he went he go to the hospital to complain that he’s having intern pain in the inside they said to

Him he’s okay and he was going every day say I’m not okay until he passed away last night oh dear it’s very painful so I’m sorry I haven’t gone no more division oh okay we love you take care mate that’s a bit of a sorry story to put some knackers on this

Film’s uh mood wonder if there’ll be an inquiry about that you’d like to think so but I somehow doubt it so this is the new ocean Basket restaurant that’s coming on the roof is going on and they still talk about what will happen to these Hulks

We had a false Dawn on them but they’re still here can’t find the castle I want to find behind uh the restaurants cuz they’ve been doing work there there my make note of I believe the art place here is still open but they don’t open till 10:00 and like the toilet which are

Already Openin gell area and here’s the modern Aphrodite there’s the castle which we all love might be a nice affection sure it’s hard to say now this at night in case you didn’t see the film looks amazing it’s all illuminated beautifully and to get up it you need to

Go on these little steps in the middle if you’re a giant but you can see the dark gray clouds that way towards the Lighthouse Beach even give me even more reason not to go there today so I’m going to walk around the back to where I par the car for this

Film and I’ll do another film of the seafront itself self but at some point in the near future I’m going to walk up there again because they’ve obviously done more work that platform has been extended properly I really don’t want to be going too far away from the car but look at this

Now do you think they’re going to lay some proper tarmac down it’s looking that way this must look quite pretty at night as well at all the uh along the wall here there’s little embedded lights we can have a PE PE at the back of the new restaurant while we’re here

Yes they definitely made quite a few inroads to getting that roof done and I believe they’ve made the tiny archaeological size out here which is an old Basilica mind you everything is an old Basilica seems but uh they made that more viewable i’ say and Beyond the fence you have the

Proper Arch ological Park I’ll be reacquainted with my myself with that in the near future but if you do come to posos that is one place you must definitely go to that’s a little panda little sign giving you information Basilica of panaya lenoa three a basilica of the early bantine

Period built in the 5th Century ad and destroyed probably during the second Arab invasion in 653 ad excavations brought to light luxurious marble decoration and Floors covered with mosaics and oah seile the church was extensively damaged during the occupation of paers by Arab troops when it was used for other

Purposes as can be seen from the Arabic instri sorry inscriptions carved on the marble columns take their word for for that after the withdrawal of the Arabs probably in the early 8th Century ad a smaller free ale vaulted Basilica was erected at the same site which was

Destroyed in 1159 ad During a severe earthquake that struck pathos there you have it bit more history than I had anticipated I’m looking for any Arabic inscriptions but to be honest I wouldn’t really know what they look like not being a scholar of ancient Arabic oh some food smells

Delicious that’s what I’m interested in what down there that leaves lower rooms or is it just a cave well sorry oh food smells good I had porridge before I came out so I won’t be eating anything yes I had porridge I’ve got climatized the recipient weather now so I have stuff

Like hot porridge for breakfast at the mo moment because for God sake it’s only about 12° I’m wearing a jumper look when I first arrived CPUs I’d be going around in a t-shirt and shorts but not today for 7even years all right I’ve done a full circle

Now once I’ve avoided this van so I’ll stop this film and do another one up the seafront normally I’d walk to the other end and film coming backwards because of the sunlight but that’s not a problem this time so I just start from here I think but for now I’ll say goodbye cheers

On Sunday I went down to Paphos Harbour to have a look around. The Bus Station still lies dormant, though they have continued their improvements behind the restaurants. The Oo La La Man had had some sad news but was still smiling. We even got a glimpse of Kokos the penguin. Weatherwise, it was changeable. I didn’t stray too far from the car as the heavens could open at any minute.

  1. Interesting video. I have never looked closely at that Basilica before.
As they spent quite a bit of time making sure that all of the Harbour restaurants now have matching canopies, you would think that they would do the same for the new Ocean Basket restaurant. It would look much better than those metal boxes. 😃
