LA PLAGNE SNOW REPORT 14 FEBRUARY: VALENTINES, PARAPENTS & QUIET SKI SLOPES

Hi everybody welcome to another slow report it’s me Jen from that plan if you don’t know who I am nice to meet you and I am here today at the top of the lattier chairlift and the top of the Verdon chairlift to do another snow report for you guys hi everyone thanks

For joining um and I’m not reporting from the piece today because it is February half to and it’s busy it’s not crazy busy cuz we’ve come out over lunchtime so you can kind of see those piece aren’t too bad right now but it’s definitely too busy to be

Skiing and recording on the past so here I am for you guys just taking it easy on my feet so yes as I said it’s February halterm it is busy busy there’s lots and lots of people in Resort I think we’re running a really high level of capacity

For beds and things in the plan um and there are definitely longer lines at the lift and um the the piece are a lot busier than they were only last week but I would say if you go out on the quiet times so kind of 9 till 10:00 in the

Morning it’s still not too bad and over lunchtime it’s really not that busy again look this is lunchtime uh it’s exactly 1:23 right now and it’s you know it’s absolutely fine honestly um so you just got to pick your moments if you can and then there’s a

Couple of really Choice quiet spots so far this week so definitely the lunch slots have been every day pretty chill pretty quiet look at that that’s all the way down into shampan down there and and also up at the glacia has been really really quiet in the mornings been super

Quiet but then uh picking up in the afternoons have been super super busy in the afternoons so I think this is people who are tied to ski school picking up and dropping off kids are not able to get there in the morning so they’re going in the afternoon so if you do have

The choice I’d say go up there in the morning instead of the afternoon I think you’ll find it a lot lot quieter if you go then as you can see it is very sunny although we’ve got these really cool clouds making this really weird Sky effect today it’s looking really

Stunning but it is really warm so today we’re looking at about plus 5 um and tomorrow it’s looking really really hot at plus 7 it’s going to be the hottest day of the week tomorrow so definitely get the sun cream on delayer um and make sure youve got plenty of water with you

We’re going to keep an eye on this parent guy cuz I think he’s about to take off so that’ll be really fantastic to watch um yes so it’s warm so the snow conditions so the pasts are amazingly not chopping up I don’t know if you can

See in detail on the pieces there but even on the south facing slopes here we’re looking down to champany so these are the slopes that are in the sun all the time you’d expect them to be really really slushy and really chopped up by this point in the day and they’re just

Not which which is fantastic um great skiing conditions so that I would say the groomers and the peace to management are doing a really fantastic job at keeping everything really hard packed for the mornings for as long as possible um so they’re working a Blinder overnight to make sure that we’ve got

Great conditions for the following day which is much appreciated um it is feeling very like spring here in Resort I’d say it’s not slushy as such it feels like early spring so it’s kind of that sugary kind of feel for the snow Under Foot rather than it is um slushy so that sugary

Crunch and um there’s definitely hard packed areas or icy patches those bits that are kind of in the sun look there he goes let’s watch him take off ah one of the best ways to view Le plan from the skies beautiful look at that so peaceful sorry I’ve just completely lost

My train of thought while I enjoy watching that H it’s definitely an activity I’d recommend doing and actually kids can do that from the age of five can you believe it from the age of five with some companies so you can check that out as a family activity get yourself 15

Minutes a peace and quiet while your kids fly down the mountain uh yeah so there’s the kind of snow conditions off piec honestly I think the conditions on piec are better than off piec right now especially at this level around Resort if you’re looking to check off back country get

Yourself a guide there’s some still really nice snow to be discovered um and I’m seeing some really beautiful reports of people who’ve been out with guides um who’ve had a brilliant time but for example if you look over here at the Mercedes face which is quite a popular

Off- piece section you can see how low the Snow Line the the how thin the snow cover is and how much it’s cracked here on the face um so that has already slid a little bit and it’s definitely going to slide again um before we get some

Snow um just wrapping it up the forecast does say that next week uh the temperatures are dropping and we might have some snow in the forecast but honestly it said exactly the same last week about this week and the then the the forecast just changed massively

Within a couple of days so I just don’t believe it guys so I am really just dialing it back in we’re trus in the forecast kind of a day or two at a time um to really see what happens um so keep watching this channel basically and I’ll

Keep you posted about what’s happening I’ll try and post as many videos as possible and photos and my stories of what it’s like and when and if we do get any snow on the forecast you’ll be the first ones to know how much we actually

Get so I’ll keep it real here but anyway this has been Jen signing off for that’s Le plan with another live snow cast uh snow forecast for you from the slopes if you’ve got any questions about what’s going on in Le plan whether it’s at pre or restaurants or Valentine’s Day

Recommendations anything you want to know at all just drop me a comment down here and I will get back to you as soon as possible otherwise stay safe and I’ll see you on the S soon bye

La Plagne Feb 14 Snow Report

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Welcome to peak Feb 1/2 term skiing!

The resorts feeling much busier than last week already. With longer lines at lifts and misses pistes.

There are still quiet spots though – if you know where to look!*

WHERE TO FIND THE QUIET SLOPES
❄️ It’s also quiet over the lunch slot 1230-1430 consistently quiet over the last few days
❄️ Glacier in the mornings
❄️ Outskirts of the piste map

The snow is much softer than last week. But sugary rather than slushy. South facing slopes are slush though and we’re seeing brown patches in places.

Pistes are really well groomed. It’s not chopping up through the day.

Off piste is crunchy! Honestly better conditions on piste than off.

Temps regularly over 0C and tomorrow forecast for +7C

*search empty pistes on That’s La Plagne blog!

  1. I was at La Plagne Bellecôte from 10 to 17 February and HOLY MOLLY it was so damn crowdy !
Snow was quite good Sunday/Monday/Tuesday but then it became terribly bumpy and ruined by large patches of ice (got trapped twice).
Last days (Friday/Saturday) it became slushy almost hard to ski from 1800m (but I prefer slushy than icy tbh).
They predict snowfall next week end. People who ski between 18 and 24 Feb will have a sunny week but a terrible snow
