Exploring Oia: A Walking Tour of Santorini’s Charming Town
Hey what’s going on I’m here in the town of IIA here in Santorini we’re just walking through the little town that’s so famous for all the white houses that you always see on Instagram and Elsewhere on the Internet it’s famous for a reason we’re here in Winter
There’s nobody here so I figured it’s the perfect opportunity to take a little walk through let’s Go it’s a time when the Sun is setting but it’s not much of a sunset today still super pretty though made our way way down to the bottom here so start our Ascent back up actually donkeys here and there are signs of it on the pathway way as you go perhaps during the
Day the donkeys were out but like everything this time of year it seems like even I is a Zombie Town in Winter there a few groups few scattered groups here and there but there are really not that many people here when you drive around to other parts of the island it’s a ghost
Town all the hotels are closed restaurants we had our Ferry canceled for tonight so we went around and scrambled to come up with new plans but we found a flight for tomorrow morning bright and early so that’s the new plan all the houses here as well I’m sure a
Lot of them are rented but hi hi nice view beautiful view in summer I can’t imagine what it’s like here everyone would be on these stairs taking pictures the roads the parking lots filled with cars tourists all of the shops and restaurants open and packed great for business for the locals
But I’m ing a lot of these houses here they’re not being used they’re like summer homes for the owners as well and I’m sure a lot of them are rented but there’s just no demand this time of year today there was actually a hail it wasn’t only raining but it was
Like super strong winds extreme weather warning hello hi [Applause] beautiful picturesque town you can see why it’s so famous and I personally love having it all to ourselves not sharing it with hundreds of other tourists you see lots of signs as you walk as well don’t walk on our roof no taking
Pictures here here’s an example of that you can see so you can imagine yeah in the summertime I’m sure everyone’s everyone’s fighting to get the best vantage point for a sunset photo or those dress photos that everyone takes here all the girls so yeah if you can get on someone’s
Rooftop yeah I get why there are signs and yeah I think it’s very important to respect the locals while you’re traveling obviously tourism is great for the locals but at the same time you have to be respectful like the signs say there this is your vacation but this is our
Home and when I’m traveling I to treat the whole world as my home act just as I would in my own country I think that’s the way to do it one of the many churches here in this little town famous for their blue tops you can hear the wind I can definitely feel
It as you can see very very few people in this town is the only shop that’s open even the most famous restaurants that we had on our list that we wanted to visit they’re closed for the season so I think business just isn’t worth it this time of
Year but we still made the most of our time today here’s another one of the churches that you’ll see on a list of things to see in this little town I’m sure you can see little hints of pink orange Sky up there there wonder if we’ll get anything more or that’s it for
Today not sure what that is it looks interesting on the lights all lit up at night it’s a whole different vibe I was here in 2011 but I hardly remember it I don’t know what time of year I here curious to look that up I don’t
Even know if I have any photos from that time or memories but we’ll go we’ll go check the archives all these little paths you can you can walk down believe at the bottom there’s a bay you can go visit and you’ll see lots of cats running around in as well plenty of cats
Oh there’s a school taking pictures of students is not allowed huh that’s a cool place to study there student yeah seriously with without VI not sure how much more is up here much of the same so we go see what it on these stairs here kind of interesting that’s the way
Just to go and explore and when it’s not packed with tourist you have the freedom to go wherever you want pick your spot on the other side of the island on the east side you can see White Caps the waves have been super crazy all day I
Guess here because it’s in a a bay well you can kind of see out there this is why our Ferry was cancelled that and the fact that it’s extreme weather warning yeah hail crazy winds hopefully our flight doesn’t get canceled as well because don’t really want to stay here
Another day when we hadn’t planned on it but I’m open to whatever happens happening little Park here winds are super strong coming from this side freezing a little glimpse of it doesn’t blow my camera away let’s let’s go [Applause] [Applause] try yeah you can hear those strong winds
We were in our car today we saw this beautiful rainbow and we stopped the car in the side of the road and you could feel the wind just moving the car back and forth It’s a small car but wow yeah the winds are super crazy today a monument [Applause] here
Got a few lights but don’t think so we’ll take in one last view here of the beautiful town I think about you but I’m ready to head back to the car to warm Up
