This Was A Complete Surprise To Us | VanLife Spain
Well guys welcome back to the channel and welcome back to random Spanish village number well we’ve actually lost kind as you mentioned last week we’re doing a little bit of a a dog SOS don’t worry the dogs are fine we’re actually undertaking an emergency pet sit and
That’s in about four or 5 days time so we’re pulling ourselves a little bit South and then we’re going to start heading west but it’s meant that we have a couple of days of just randomly chilling out and so I’d spot a lovely there in a little tiny Spanish village
That we just thought let’s just come here and hang out for the Saturday and it just so happens that in behind the air you’ve got a lovely walk up pretty steep terrain to these to these windmills I think there’s a rooming Bridge somewhere in this Village as Well now there’s no way you’re going to be able to make this sight but D in kind of there is where the the camper van stop is so really really flat actually all along there’s a might range over to the West I’m not sure which one it is a few
Little tonics over that way but this is one of the only kind of hills and so you can see for miles out this way quite a nice little little Jaun up and it actually forms part of I think it looks like about a 14k sort of circular it around the hills
And stuff so but we’re only going to come up and see the windmill oh look there she is haven’t done away with her just yet well that’s our little J to the windmills over now the fun part running down the Stree and back into the little village oh goodness me he’s off
He’s off one of the other highlights of this little Spanish village is the ran bridge and yes this is the Skil even I’m bringing us on Nicholas terrible tourism tours now is this it even I’m underwhelmed you’ve seen Nicola being overwhelmed with shiny snails in tiny windmills yeah there you
Go it actually it actually does take a lot to underwhelm me so as we’ve said quite an underwhelming Village I’m quite surprised there’s a souvenir shop because apart from the windmills um and the very tiny Bridge there’s not really much to see I mean I wouldn’t come here
Just F the wind Mills I would come out my way well we did cuz you told me I had to sleep in a car here otherwise wouldn’t have bothered for a point well Made well guys we have arrived in random Spanish village number well we’ all lost kind I and just a very functional well I would say functional stop over does look like it’s bordering on a beautiful um little village again which looks like it’s got some sort of castle ruins at
The top so I’m sure we’ll go and visit that tomorrow decent Drive 2 hours down it’s about 18° all is not too shabby so welcome back to the van and welcome back to Nicola Cooks uh what are we having my version of bang bang cauliflower Loosely based on a recipe on
The today I’m sure’ll be find this garlic in It well morning again guys another perfect little a just to stop over at and apparently the village is quite nice to explore so before we head on this morning we’re going to go and do that but first up I think it’s breakfast time maybe some more that bang bang
Cauliflower that we had last night Eh well that’s not a bad View at all I actually came up here last night for Sunset and there’s loads of people here really lovely yeah really nice really nice Village and as I said earlier great that you got these little LS but also
It’s more than just a car park in a sort of a dull Village it’s actually a really nice Village to walk around and there’s some little sort of abandoned cave homes up here as well this is kind of one of the only nubbin in the in the vicinity
The castle castle we like castles m she likes castles let’s go visit S Castle oh I’m going to the nubbins there’s a comment I never thought would hear in this Channel unfortunately it doesn’t look like you can actually get inside the castle might be open in the higher season but Mighty impressive from the outside mind you really lovely views out towards the um the little village and we’re parked somewhere down in there somewhere non too shabby Really see it’s not just me jeez Louise was almost a goner the previous little cave dwellings were obviously much abandoned these ones that are built into the the side of the Hill are still inhabited they’re really really pictures Fant F and lovely I’m assuming they maybe come here in the summer months and
I’m not sure whether they’re just open for people to browse around or whether people actually live in them but wow impressive really really cool right in below the the main Castle as Well well guys that’s us all finished in chin Chilla couple of hours drive to the coast we’ll catch up there well good morning again guys and we are now in Cena not quite sure whether that’s how you pronounce it but we’re going to say it is um and we are
Currently trying to the cheap SKS that we are get a glimpse of the rooman theater without paying for it yeah but we think that it might have all been built around by these kind of high-rise kind of residential blocks but we’re not going to be forart on the first attempt
So let’s see whether we can even get a little glimpse I think you said it was €1 but that was for the theater the Roman forum and the castle apparently so it’s actually not that expensive so we are really been really really really cheap skits but yeah let’s see whether
We can have a maybe our opinion will change if we can’t get any views of it but let’s go and see whether we can see the Roman theater so we found a little spy hle it looks identical to the one in cadis literally identical yeah it’s nice
It’s nice but because we went to the other one I don’t actually feel like need to pay to go into this one cuz it is literally identical so there was a gate it was open and we walked through it not quite sure whether we were supposed to or not but yeah slightly
Concerned we shouldn’t be here maybe this is the the public viewing bit and you just have to pay to actually walk around the theater itself it was actually the same in cadis that the theater was actually built or the houses were actually built around the theater if this is for free it’s definitely
Worthwhile coming up here to look into it it’s really really good really good and unless you particularly want to walk on the particular Stones then this is just as good as paying I think and especially because the 22e saved can go towards lunch so what are we looking for an eye
Well I read somewhere there’s a heart stopping escalator at the top of the castle but I’m not sure if this is the castle or the Castle’s over on a hill up there but there wouldn’t be an escalator going up that hill a heart stop escalator that’s something you always
Want to try and find so n would you like to clarify what a heart stoping escalator actually is well I think the Castle’s over there which Nigel will point you at hopefully in a minute and I think it’s a heart stoping windy road that you drive on not an escalator I
Think that’s what they mean maybe the translation wasn’t so good um cuz I’d forgotten the castle was a little bit out of town I think once again don’t come to us for factual information so I think we’ve now clarified we are allowed to be here this is just like an open
Public park but actually you climb to the very top and you get really beautiful views over the city the city does feel like it’s a city that is still being built even though there’s kind of Rin artifacts there it does look as though a lot of the buildings are in a
State of disrepair and being rebuilt so there’s a big um pedestrian shopping area as well that’s quite important shopping oh I’m not even in the mood for shopping I’m in the mood for eating just for changeing not shopping so we’re finally being dened you know need tickets to go in there
But I’ve just seen a sign for a panoramic lift which is in there I don’t think it is cuz it said 150 M that that way so I’m determined to find this lift so that castle on the hill who knows what Li is so I think we find a heart
Stopping quotation not really heart stopping lift or stirs at least right let’s do the hard stopping moment oh there so you have to buy the ticket downstairs so it looks like we’re not using the lift that’s okay I don’t mind the walk it it it’s actually encased in
Metal anyway so I’m not sure how panoramic it will be at least we found it we did indeed or we found something did someone say lunchtime oh is pretty high actually lunch consumed which consisted of a very rupy sandwich yeah mine wasn’t nice at all and now we’re
Rushing towards the Wheel of Fortune Wheel of Fortune the house of 2 minutes and now we’re rushing towards the house of Fortune which is apparently an EXC ex excavated excavated Roman Roman house house but it closes at 3: and it’s Quast 2 so you got get move on we were enjoying our doy
Sandwich too much we made it Just this is actually us now walking D onto the old woman Road and how the area probably would have looked like back in the day well that was actually really interesting I am not a huge history buff you obviously know this one is but the
The ruman road itself um maybe you got a real appreciation of kind of heart was really really impressive really good they even have tra had traffic caling in the Century ad amazingly yeah I’m not sure what was going that fast back then but obviously something was in this one
Here would have been car up against the wall going I’m going to get rid over our horse and cart but yeah really impressive €250 uh per person you probably only need about half an hour in there if you want to read every single thing which I
Did yes right well we are going to slowly Meander back through the the time and wander back to the van actually and I guess we’ll catch up again in a few moment moments well a few moments for you guys as we wrap up this Vlog but yeah
Cena I’m sure there’s more to it than we’ve actually discovered I think we’re just a bit tired and a bit lethargic um I mean it’s interesting to wander around and all the Roman stuff is great um yeah find your own kahena or Ceno or cago or whatever you
Say I think I need a cup of tea and a cake cake we haven’t got any cake we need to buy Cake Dam it right catch up and vit for a little wrap up Around but hang on first of all we need a bit of a Nitro oh hello guys well this a bit different so as you may have guessed we’re not in the van anymore and apologies if it’s a little bit noisy o we’re actually in a hop tub we’re doing
A dog sit so we won’t actually record a lot obviously protecting folks privacy and stuff we’ve been here for a couple of days it’s been wonderful to reconnect with the dogs again including Bella a new dog but we she’s just such a she’s massive she’s like a mini horse but
She’s so sweet but we leave here tomorrow so someone’s feeling a little bit sad so we thought we would come and enjoy a little bit of the hot top it’s been very windy today but tomorrow we are back in the van and we have a bit of
A plan but we won’t talk about that just yet we just enjoy our last night here for now though we’re going to enjoy a little bit of time in the hot tub oh goodness man I’m very buoyant and I guess we’ll catch up next time once again thanks a lot for following
Along and from the hot tub and a very happy person to have been here but a very sad person to have to leave and I’m still I’ve gone I’ve gone bye then woohoo oh going to find more Jets oh there we go wrong jet oh my Gant oh I’m floating too

As we mentioned in last weeks vlog, we had to change our plans after saying yes to a certain SOS call from 3 dogs (and their owners). With this in mind we head south, and are rewarded with some wonderful (and relaxing) adventures in locations we had not heard of before.
This is one of the best reasons for travelling slowly in a van – the unexpected beauty.
❤️ Thanks for watching and will catch up next time.

A litlte bit about us ..
Is it possible to TRAVEL YOURSELF HAPPY? Let’s find out !
We are the Cookes, Nicola, and Nigel. We love to travel. In 2018 we bought and converted a VW Transporter van and spent 3 years traveling around the UK and Ireland. At the time we also travelled with our beloved cat, Guinness. She was 20. Sadly we lost Guinness in Feb of 2020 and then well the rest of the world went to pot.
After a few 3 month trips to northern Spain and France, In early 2023 we sold our property back in Ireland and hit the road full time. For the remainder of 2023 we explored Spain, Portugal, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.
2024 plans are being formed and we look forward to bringing your guys along for the ride.
This channel will primarily focus on our travels, with the odd smattering of photography and food thrown in for good measure.
Travel safe.
