Public bathes were inevitable part of a social life until decades ago but started to be replaces with tiny showers and bathtubs in our houses. The concept of Hamam or bath has been around since the Romans but the emphasis of Islam on cleanness and public hygiene made public hamams an inevitable part of Islamic culture. Thanks to the hamams, the spread of contagious diseases were less of a threat compared to Western Europe for centuries. This particular hamam is called Nazafat and is located in a historical district of Tabriz called Hokmabad and with about 2 dollars you can have a pleasant experience and refresh your mind and body. Come inside and see it yourself!
