A Drive Around Paphos With Commentary

Hi this is Dominic from pathos life and we’re having a drive through Central pathos today and as it’s somewhere built up I thought I would give it some commentary rather than the usual music you’re used to I’m going to be driving through uh the main areas that have been renovated

Recently uh that’s the B7 going down to Kennedy square and then I’m going to do a little Loop around the courts area into uh Oldtown going going explore that for a bit and then we’re heading down to uh paos seant and the castle where we’ll finish we’re just coming up to scenus

Super Market on the left that used to be car for if you haven’t been here for a few years again if you haven’t been here for a few years then uh all the traffic lights you were about to see will be a bit of a surprise they didn’t used to be here and

I’ve actually edited out all the bits where we’ve had to uh stop and wait cuz I’ve been that cut about 5 minutes off the film you’ll notice that there are bards along the side of the roads as well that’s to stop people parking wherever they want to they’re actually designated

Car parking spaces and I think most of them now have numbers on them and the idea is that you have to use an app on your phone and you basically pay for your parking that way it works out very cheap it’s I think the most I’ve paid it’s about 50 cents for an

Hour so it’s not going to break the bank or anything and uh it’s quite convenient you don’t need to have an account or anything you can just pay on the spot if you like soon we’ll be coming up to the uh Pap Antonio supermarket I Peak too

Soon there nice butches on the right we just going past and there was a decent Bookshop on the left back there as well yeah Pap and tonos is just up here on the right that’s another of the big Supermarket chains uh in in Pathos and beyond that there’s a nice new

Babout and from there we head down towards Kennedy Square uh there are a number of garages along here and they actually built another one further down the road as well just past the green Air building but I believe that one of these garages that’s currently here was going

To close as a result of that so presumably uh it’s just moved it the turnings on the right here go to our Oldtown and on the left take you to uh more of the business area of Pathos and the courts we’ll see that in a minute because we’re going to do a

Loop Kennedy square is like one of the main hubs in Pathos and uh it’s next to October 28th Square where and and the town hall and uh things like pathos Carnival for instance that ends there it starts further up this road actually and the main Christmas lights go

Here so it’s a bit of a central area there’s some nice restaurants uh around the square and you can walk down there’s a purpose-built uh footpath uh not foot path that’s what I’m looking for pedestrianized road that takes you all the way to uh Oldtown Market see this rather ornate

Building on the right is the library believe it or not and on the left that shabby looking building is the old police station and that’s in the process of being renovated the town hall is on the right and this these rather Grand buildings on the left is a school believe it or

Not i’ for years I thought that that was the court but it’s not that’s just the school if you turn right there you’ll uh come up uh into Muse and few other things which is a nice restaurant yeah the carnival last year at least uh walked down this along this

Road before that it used to go down at the sea front but I know it won’t be there this year because they’re digging up that road so definitely CAU and I think it’s been moved probably permanently here though don’t quote me on that so if you want to see the carnival

This is a good place to uh view it from it starts just up here and uh by the time it get to Kennedy square there’s a lot more crowd around so if you’re not keen on that then come up this end on the left here is uh paffles

Museum I need to do an article on that really keep meaning to and we’re going to turn left here and go up into the court section now all this is renovated road now there are a few shops down here as well as what and a dentist one of the

Popular ones the Stefan shop basically I’m just I can name you all the shops that I’m likely to go into I think there’s a lighting shop as well but there’s dress shops I wouldn’t have a clue about them and maybe a cake shop and there’s a I see yeah something

About American Site I remember from a long time ago there the farest though and we’re going across now and just up here on the right you’re coming up to the court hopefully none of you will ever have to enter into one of the many Cafe NEOS in the city

And now we’re going to be leaping back onto oursel because we’ll be coming up to the uh road we are on just before we got to Kennedy square but this time we’re going to be going right very briefly and then we’re going to turn left into Oldtown

Right the first thing you’ll see coming in here is the marade theater on your right and behind that it’s the new bus station which you can’t really see here I I didn’t drive through it this time though on your left here it’s very yellow building that’s pumpkin house I

Featured her quite a few times on our website uh it’s run by Eevee she’s based at the moment down at the harbor I think they have like an artisam shop area right near the castle so that’s the place to go if you want to see in at the moment I’m not

Sure how much longer she’s there though before she goes back up here now we’re heading into Old Town itself there’s the bus station again on the Right and just to our left though you can’t really see it is a beautiful mural called Aphrodite’s children it’s probably one of the most popular ones in pathos that one and there are a number of murals there’s one up there I can’t remember what that one’s called I think it’s reform or

Something but they were painted over a threeyear period there used to be I think called street art Square there was a festival independently run in Oldtown before before it was renovated basically and most of them still around but some of them have been either painted over or just uh the walls been

Knocked down so anyway we’re going past the Oldtown market now on the right uh if you get a taxi to Oldtown it’ll probably drop you off just back where you came from and this is uh the MOs end of Oldtown there’s the mosque on the left which you can’t really see here

And if you take that turning before that blue building you’ll be in a car park where the pathos cat lady feeds a lot of her cats so if you want to meet her that’ be a good place and now we’re heading back into our old town again on a we’re doing a

Loop it’s very quiet here at the moment cuz I filmed this on a Sunday morning if you’re wondering before it gets I mean it’s about 8:00 in the morning or something Sunday lunchtime will be quite busy and if you go in the evenings it’s a lot

Busier but that’s the road we turned on um to this one from a minute ago because you’ll see that mural again just there on the left and this time when we get to the end here we’re going to be going left this will take us past another cafeo on the

Right and the very famous uh bird with this uh little girl without The Sparrows I think you’d call it because they used to be she used to have four sparrows with her but they kept getting nicked Believe It or Not can’t see it on the right there but that’s where it is and

Uh the artist has got a new Statue appearing soon in P so look out for that there’s marks and Spencer’s outl store just down here so if you need to get any pery pigs that’s where you go see all this road has been renovated they done a tremendous job I

Mean I know it’s been a bit of a pain at times but I’m not sure I got I did get that yeah now we’re going down towards uh the main Kings Avenue Mall there’s the green Air building on the left if you’re looking for Solar Solutions

There’s a new garage I mention on the right and it’s a it’s a mix of uh retail and restaurants down this road if you go left uh brings you out onto opposite that really big church in pathos incidentally if you like this uh film please do like and subscribe to our

YouTube channel and follow us on Facebook for more content and for similar vein and leave a comment if you hate or like the commentary or if you further your more traditional music that we use because we do listen and take on board what people say and as we get closer to uh Kings

Endy mall we get on the left is an alpha Mega and beyond that is one of the sites of one of the new universities that’s being built I’m not sure which one it is if you look carefully on the right here there’s a very nice P have we gone past it

Yet I think it’s just on the right there is a very nice uh pizza restaurant I reviewed a couple of years years ago and they do really good Peter there’s a garden center on the left there and we’re going straight across the roundabout underneath the walkway which

Has been here a couple of years now they first started building it in 2017 but it got delayed for a while I think the original company went bankrupt but it’s now being finished and uh it’s very popular these traffic lights here can be quite annoying they’re only temporary

But but uh I don’t think I’ve ever gone through it and it’s been green I’ve always had to wait and sometimes there’ll be a queue going back on to the roundabout so bear that in mind if you’re in the area this puzzles me here because uh

When they were laying all the paving I’m driving over now they actually had a map cuz I saw it and basically they knew where each individual Paving slab was going to go and each different color it obviously means something to somebody but uh since then it’s been duck up a

Number of times so presumably all the uh panels have been put down in different places so I’m not quite sure it means the same thing anymore right you got St Paul’s pillar is down on the left you can’t see it from here but one of these I think that

One with the brown sign will take you there and we should be coming into familiar area now if you turn left this roundabout you’ll be at another Pap Super Market and it’ll lead you through up to Bar Street area we’re going straight on there’s a new car park on the

Right and uh whereas in the past you could have driven down the seafont it’s now pedestrianized so all these Bullards here will prevent that I think we mainly see now is fishermen and joggers but we’re heading behind the restaurants in front of us now is the archaeological Park main Entrance not sure what that Monument I’ve just driven past is a monument too but that’s the archaeological part main entrance there and the harbor is to our left and there’s an ancient Christian Basilica on the left there and this area has been done up uh

It looks a lot nicer than it used to I mean it’s still a bit of work to do on the surface of the car park but always lighting and pedestrianized but very nice and finally we end up at paos Castle itself so I hope you’ve enjoyed this uh

Little guided tour and I haven’t bored you with my Waffle and I will see you in the next film

Today we take a guided tour of central Paphos. I want to show off the renovated roads and gave you a look around Paphos. We start at the traffic lights above Mesogi Road Lidl and drive down to Kennedy Square. From there we turn into the court area before doubling back into Old Town. We finish by heading down to the Sea Front and Paphos Castle.

Sorry for the echoey nature of the commentary by the way. I am decorating my office and had moved all the bookcases out. I didn’t realise the effect it had on the accoustics until later.

  1. Thank you for that. It’s good to hear your commentary but I also enjoy your music too. Usually in Paphos from mid January to end of March but a house move put an end to our plans. Looking forward to returning in November

  2. That was a great tour around Paphos thanks you and please continue to provide a commentary it helps to locate some of the places that you hear about but can't quite place. Good idea to edit out the time spent at red traffic lights. Regarding parking we were in Paphos last September and couldn't quite get to grips with how to pay and the app wouldn't work on my Android phone. In all the years we have been coming to Cyprus we have only had to pay once and that was in the Troodos.

  3. Thank you so much for the commentary, we really like it! Have been to Paphos 19 times but still leant lots from your commentary 🙂What a beautiful day as well.

  4. We enjoyed this Thankyou. It’s nice to have the commentary for a change once in a while. Your voice and the background music are very calming. 😌🧘‍♀️

  5. Just watched this video and really enjoyed the commentary. It’s so helpful. Although we’ve walked around some of the areas, we know more information about them. Would love more of them.

  6. Thank you Dominic for the commentary really enjoyed it, looking forward to revisiting some of the areas you highlighted and going to new one’s especially the pumpkin house on our next holiday to Paphos. Keep up the good work! 🙂
