We flew to Barcelona Spain!
Hey what’s going on Good People welcome to Russ cam fly can you believe it I’m about to fly commercial this is so crazy cuz this is my first commercial flight since getting my private pilot’s license and I got to tell you it’s actually kind of crazy to
Think about getting on an airplane and that I’m not flying also it’s crazy because I’m so used to being able to see in the cockpit that you know just sitting in the back and looking out that little window is just going to see so inferior to what I’m used to so that is
The actual airplane that we’re about to take off in and yes we are on our way to see our baby um and I’m definitely excited about that so it’s kind of interesting to think about what this flight is going to be like I actually
Was able to pull the flight plan up at 4 flight it is pretty amazing there’s some weird things on there that I didn’t understand that I saw on for flight now I did not bring my iPad with me so I can’t show you some of the things that
I’m talking about because it’s not coming up on my phone but what’s tripped out is there’s these like almost like isogonic lines or something like that that and they have these like I don’t know like meridian lines or something like that but they’re colored it’s it
Was weird so when we get back I’ll definitely show you what I’m talking about because I need my iPad to show that part of for flight uh but yeah it’s uh it’s interesting so it’s been kind of crazy because this is the first time I’ve flown commercially in a very long time I
Think it’s been at least somewhere in the neighborhood of like maybe five to six years and so just being in an airport is like really crazy um and of course unfortunately the sound might be a little weird because I have to make sure I isolate my voice because there’s
A lot of music playing in the background and I don’t want to get you know a um you know a copyright strike but you know this is just this is just so wild being in an airport and thinking about you know what the pilot is doing right now
The kind of pre-light stuff that they’re thinking about doing all of that kind of stuff so definitely exciting so definitely going to show some other role as we kind of get into it um I will say this is the first time that I’ve been in the international part of the airport and a
Very very long time it is extremely extremely nice in here um lots of open areas lots of eateries and stuff like that so definitely fantastic from KN standpoint but you know you know what I want to do you know I want to get in that pot cockpit and actually do the
Flying myself rather than having somebody fly me but that’s okay that’s just how that goes welcome to Philadelphia International Airport um this is the international terminal that I’m in right now and I got to tell you there’s a lot of great stuff in here now
I tried to come to a good place where I’m not disturbing people um I don’t want any think anybody to think that I’m like filming them or anything like that so you know as you can see not a lot of people behind me this way so definitely
Wanted to make sure that I came to an area where there was less people but man when is the last time you flew commercially um this is like really crazy and what’s funny is I’m so used to looking at smaller aircraft seeing these big birds out on the field is just is
Just so crazy they look so huge after the little Cessna 152s and the piper archers and stuff like that I mean look at this thing look at how big that your playan looks to me I mean it is just so crazy and you know to think you know
They do the same things that we do just like on a much larger scale but yeah I’ve forgotten how big these uh commercial airliners are okay so I’m going to go back over here walk back to my gate and just kind of chill out get myself situated maybe
Get some food got a little bit of time before the flight actually takes off um but yeah I definitely make sure I get some of the flight um some of the on the airplane and you know you might be saying man I’ve seen the on airplane a
Dozen times so that’s not going to be any big deal but for me the only reason why it is a big deal is because it’s been a long time since I’ve flown commercially so definitely got to show you some of that all right I’ll see you
Once we’re on the airplane all right on my way down to the plane in the jetway man it’s been a long time since I’ve done this so definitely uninitiated but just approve it here’s the jet way and I’m not going to lie I forgot how tight it is in these tag on
Airplanes I mean we talk about small general aviation aircraft being tight man listen my knees were like plastered up against that seat but you know still it was exciting so yeah my view out the window ready to take off now I know a lot of this is hard to see but look at
That ground speed 616 mph um I mean that is just cooking and you know one of the things I also tried to do is like you know flick around to some of the different views and whatnot um because it was you know this this this feature in the back of the chair
Was fascinating um I was almost able to look like you know almost like a glass panel in a in a cockpit of an airport again you can’t see this but it’s actually you know altitude tape whatnot so it was pretty cool um but you know unfortunately like I said my camera
Didn’t you know pick up but the true air speed 539 ground speed 595 miles an hour definitely a little faster than we fly especially in little Sammy and this is the last view as we’re coming into Barcelona Spain and I’mma tell you we had like a 45 or 50 knot tail win at
38,000 ft we were cooking we did this flight I would say in about 7 hours in 30 minutes I mean we were cooking so yeah it was a great flight um and definitely excited to to land and get off that airplane right we are here in Barcelona that was a heck of a
Flight all right so so definitely glad to get off that airplane that middle seat was a little rough but we’re here so yeah welcome to Barcelona I’m going to get myself situated and uh can’t yeah they got it blocked it got a couple people people all right here we are in
Barcelona it wasn’t as long as flying in New Zealand so not that big a deal but man those domestic flights are tight and this just a little bit of uh the cab ride to Barcelona we were exhausted but just so excited as well one thing I definitely got to capture
While I’m here is this Kasi Kasa b b I don’t know how to pronounce thaty okay but yeah I definitely had to capture that okay so we’re going to see you on the other side we’re going to not do too much here not going to be doing too much
Filming while I’m here here um cuz definitely want to spend some time in the moment but I thank you for flying with us it’s been a crazy flight it’s going to be awesome day we’re looking forward to spending some time with our little one so anyway Russ kid Russ can
Fly Caroline Caroline can fly thank you for flying with us we’re out peace but nov came

Proud of you guys! Enjoy your travel and thank you for sharing.
Nice! I’ve worked on those Dreamliners from nose to tail! You can stand up and walk around in the baggage compartment down below. It’s just as long as all the seats go. There’s even fwd and aft sleeping quarters the one up front sleeps 2 pilots and the one in the rear of the plane sleeps 6 crew. Nothing fancy just climb in style slot style mat beds. Tall enough to sit up in. But they look cool. Ask for a tour I’m sure they wouldn’t mind. Tell them you heard this info from a fellow A&P 787 Mechanic and fellow pilot. 👍🏼
Thanks for sharing Russ, i always enjoy and look forward to your videos.
Awesome! I also feel weird when I fly commercial. I hope you guys enjoyed the trip.
You flew to Spain? Boy, your arms must be tired!
I don't think I've ever commented on one of your videos, but I wanted you to know I look forward to seeing each of them,
from your friends in Wyoming
I’ve been to Barcelona twice, and I loved it. It’s such a beautiful city. I recommend visiting the beach, La Rambla, and the F.C. Barcelona Stadium. I also recommend going on a Segway tour.
Omg fantastic seeing you in Barca, my son lives there and I go every few months, one day when I do eventually get my PPL maybe I’ll fly myself there. Anyway, I hope you and your wife have a fantastic time there, and if you get the time to go further afield, visit the monastery at Monserrat, you’ll thank yourself for doing so. It’s only about an hour from Barcelona on the train. Looking forward to seeing your next flight
What you saw are called North Atlantic Tracks aka NAT. They’re lat long position points, that change twice a day to take advantage of the winds.
We love flying to Barcelona, but my wife and I agree that this was our favorite flight! Check it out!

I flew commercial last year to the U.S. was definitely a different experience.
Husband and I got back from Rio de Janerio last week and I LOVED watching our route and flying stats on the screen! 10 hours was the flight time, so I had time to enjoy for sure. HaHa!
Flying is always exciting no matter what! It’s good to see you and your wife flying international. How was the 787?
Also did you update your fan mail address? I still would like to send some fan mail.
Flying is so much fun when you know so much about what goes into piloting. I'm not a pilot but even from my experience in the MSFS 2020, I feel good knowing a little bit of this and that. Great video. Hope you both had a LOT of fun!!! From one bro to another, your videos are fun and great! Keep going!
I don't know if you're back yet. If you're not, please go see La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. It's a cathedral that's been under construction for the last 100 years or so. And it's really quite incredible.
As far as when was the last time I was on commercial flight: it was actually yesterday. I went to visit my mom in Wisconsin and I would have liked to have flown myself but low freezing levels + clouds = icing and no go. On the way home, the airplane was showing a 170 mph tail wind at 39000. I did bring my ipad along and I entered the flight plan and could see where the pilots were getting deviations. The glide rings were like 60 miles away from where we were and we were doing 600 mph ground speed. I imagine Siri in the ipad being very very confused.
The thing that frustrated me was that I left my mom's house at 9 am. And got home at 6:30pm. If I could have flown myself I would have beat the airlines (door to door) by about an hour. Mostly because the airport I departed was an hour & 15 mins drive + I needed to be there early enough to return the car + 2 hours before the airplane takes off to make sure I'm through security + a 1 hour layover for a connecting flight + 45min to an hour of taxiing. Sure it's only about 2 hours in the air but there's a metric ton of time spent on other things that I just don't have to worry about in GA. On top of that, I intentionally packed so that I wouldn't have to check a bag. And the airline said: Since you're not checking a bag we can't give you a boarding pass until you talk to someone at the counter. So please go there for your boarding pass.
What I learned: I really dislike commercial aviation.
Upload Tuesday eh? Interesting. Again my parents use to be based @ PHL with Usairways. I've flown out of A West terminal as well but to MCO bk in 2005 to visit my auntie & male cousin. My mother was working @ the ticket counter @ terminal B until her retirement that same year after the merger with American West. My father is based out of ORD with American.
Me nor my mother never been to Barcelona or anywhere overseas before. Hopefully soon. My father has worked a Paris flight once when i was little. He plans to do international flights by next year for his retirement.
Thx for sharing your members only trip upload from last year to visit ur daughter. God bless u all FAMLAY. I'll join soon. See ya on either livefeed Wednesday lmao & or upload Friday. Hope you enjoyed your weekend. #salute my gud brotha!!!!!
Awesome bro. God bless.
