Overland in a Defender from Lisbon to Algarve

In this episode we continue our Overland trip which began in Germany where we drove to Bordeaux France and surfed our way down the coast of Spain and Portugal. We pick up where we left off last week in Lisbon and head south to the Algarve.

The first night we stay just south of Comport after we were lucky enought to get a table at the world famous Gomes Casa de Vinhos & Petiscos. Dinner was wonderful and service was great but it got dark on us and we had not figured out where to park for the night.

iOverland app saved us and we arrived in an unknown location in the pitch dark. We awoke to unobstructed views of the beach where we paused to brew some coffee and enjoy the morning.

We finally make it to Sagres where we enjoyed some surf and beach before spending the night in a crowded camp ground. I really hate campgrounds but they had hot showers and breakfast was great complete with live music.

As we were headed to visit Ralph from Algarve Life & Nature YouTube channel, Khalisee the Defender started crying on us. She blew out her Turbo just a few miles from Ralphs Casa. We limped to the rest of the way to Ralph’s where he was gracious enough to let us stay for 3 nights, gave us hot showers, happy hours, and wonderful dinners in the local villages.

Please visit Ralph’s channel as he is renovating a ruin into a beautiful retreat.

We were able to arrange a local garage to pick up Khalisee and start the repairs (we will do another video on the repairs and numerous upgrades we did to Khalisee).

We caught a flight back to Germany where we rested a few days and then jumped into our Toyota Tacoma and headed to Italy.

Next weeks episode will be our trip to spend a few nights at Lake Como and Lake Garda.

I am an American surfer who moved from Hawaii to Europe temporarily to explore the backroads of Europe and surf every break. To do this I bought a Land Rover Defender as most of the time it is about the journey more than the destination.

This channel is all about balancing career, finance, and living life to the fullest. If done correctly, you should not have to sacrifice one for the other.
