These are the travel hacks and tips I use all the time to save money and avoid scams Sean here from The Amazing island of kosui in Thailand it’s been 80 months now I’ve been traveling around southeast Asia and I wanted to share with you my top travel tips and hacks that even your

Travel agent doesn’t want you to know let’s do It I took a leap and embarked on full-time travel in 2022 armed with phones and Cameras I share my Adventures as I travel across Southeast Asia venturing into the unknown has been both exhilarating and Rewarding to me southeast Asia is a gold mine of experiences rich in culture amazing people delicious food and Unforgettable adventures and it’s this very essence that I share with [Applause] You so pack your curiosity buckle up and subscribe to join me on my Wild Adventures through the amazing cities unbelievable Landscapes and hidden gems of Southeast Asia so these are the top 10 travel hacks I use all the time to avoid scams and save money to save you having to

Take notes I do have a free travel tips and hacks guide for traveling around southeast Asia that I’ll be giving away at the end of this so stick around for that in this guide there’s actually 20 tips and hacks for traveling around southeast Asia so stick around to the

End and I’ll tell you how you can get that just here at Cactus it’s one of my favorite places in lemi Beach Co Sami just to come get some work down they have pretty decent Wi-Fi it’s right on the beach you get the seab breeze the

Whole way through and out of all the places that are on the beach it doesn’t get as hot they’ve got a massive canopy really nice spot it’s close to where I’m staying the view is always amazing really good to get your work done my first travel hacks end tips are really

Around things you need to do before you even go so booking flights getting accommodation that kind of stuff and being prepared for when you leave as well and go and travel there’s a lot of things that I wish I had have done because it’s just so much harder to do

Once you’re traveling to get things so I’ll feel you in more on that these are great tips to to really get you started so first of all booking flights the best tool that I use all the time is Google flights so if you just type in Google

Flights you can even track when flights are cheap for certain destinations or certain places you can also find best times of year or find if you leave on a certain day is it going to be cheaper so it’s a really good tool it will help you find the best value flights another

Thing I recommend though is booking direct with the airline because one of the problems if you book through a third party if you need to add baggage if you need to change your flights you actually have to go through that third party you can’t go direct to the airline which is

A pain and can cause all types of problems especially if you’re running late for your flight booking direct is the only way you’re going to get help when you’re at the airport and you really need it so those will save you a bunch of hassles when you need to by

Just booking direct and use Google to find the best flights so when it comes to booking accommodation I frequently use Airbnb Agoda booking.com I’ve also heard good things about hosel world as well leave a link for them in the description below it’s always best to shop around find yourself

A really good deal because from time to time they always have sales on places to stay so Agoda has been my favorite and Airbnb I go to an Airbnb I frequently use booking.com also comes in handy if you’re looking for hostel I suggest hostel world they’re going to be a bit

More flexible and they’ve got the biggest range of hostels around so definitely worthwhile checking out those when it comes to reading reviews and you should always read reviews when it comes to booking accommodation always check reviews first I find though if you’re using a Goa booking.com they always put

The most helpful reviews you want to select the drop down and select most recent reviews just to check those before you book otherwise you might find out that they’re actually under construction or next door’s under construction they got building going on all the time or there’s a nightclub open

Next door and there’s loud music till 3:00 a.m. so if you want to know what you can experience when you’re there then I really recommend checking out the most recent reviews it’s the only way to know for sure what you can expect for your stay all right so this is the one I

Wish I had have started beforehand and that is get a good travel account my problem was when I realized I needed one I was already traveling and I booked the card so many times I had to book a replacement card because it keep saying it would take 4 weeks to arrive but it

Took like five or 6 weeks for the card to arrive so cuz you do need to have that card with you gives you access to withdrawals from ATMs which I’ll get to in a minute but with that it just something that you need to have on you

Before you travel so before you go get that card my favorite is wise they have really competitive rates they offer three monthly transactions for free from an ATM really great deals some of the best exchange rates I’ve seen anywhere I’ve traveled as well so yeah I definitely recommend they save me a lot

Of money and a lot of headaches just get that card first get it delivered to your house before you travel so then you’ve got that on you and you’re good to go I will have a link for them in the description below as well so yeah check

Them out get them before you get started it’s like trying to get anything delivered while you’re traveling is always a problem because you don’t know where you’re going to be at the time that it actually arrives so yeah it’s always a challenge to make sure you’ve got that stuff sorted out [Applause] [Applause] First another great hack that can save you a lot of money and avoid scams is by pre-booking your airport transfers throughout southeast Asia it is very common for airports to have like a taxi Mafia where they jack up the prices of everything and if you’re booking from

Like a grab or a goj or anything like that then they know these license plates and they can’t come pick you up they raise the prices of these airport transfers significantly so what I suggest to save money and headaches of having to deal with it all because it is

A pain once you land you can be tired bit frustrated having to deal with all this so the best thing to do is pre-book your airport transfers I recommend using cluke or get your guide they often have some great deals on Airport transfer so these are just professional drivers that

Will come and pick you up they’re not a taxi service or on bolt or grab or goj or these other apps that you can book so it does end up saving you money and they’re not going to get in trouble by the taxi Ma at these locations so yeah

Pre-book airport transfers and you’ll save a lot of time and Hassle and that’s not just for flights also if you’re catching a ferry or a boat trip to somewhere as well it’s the same pre-book your transfers beforehand so once you’ve arrived as well you’ve got your airport

Transfer you’re now in your place all set to go the first thing you want to do is get a local SIM card this will avoid roaming fees or Bill shop when it comes to dealing with mobile data and phone bills you really want to get a local Sim it’s

So cheap I’ve had unlimited plans for less than $20 so it’s quite common it’s easy to get and yeah it’ll save you a lot of money all right so another scam that is really common throughout southeast Asia are the taxi scams they don’t use meters Tok TOS trcks they can

Be the same it’s easy to get scammed avoid all of that use the local transport booking apps like uber so the common ones throughout southeast Asia are bolt grab and gojack so gojek’s really common in Indonesia grab is available in Philippines Thailand and Vietnam so use those that’s easy to book

Easy to get around and you prepay everything sorted out you know what you’re paying and you’re not going to get Scammed also for getting around and doing activities if you’re going to rent a car scooter motorbike jet ski anything like that I recommend you speak to locals or your accommodation staff to find out who are the reputable companies because it is easy to get ripped off there are some

Scams that do run throughout southeast Asia on renting a lot of these so you do have to be careful and do some res resarch ask locals so yeah people that work at your hotel people who work at cafes and things like that that you go to ask them

They’ll be able to give you the best advice also when it comes to booking these make sure you get photos and video of the bike the condition of it on the day you book right there in front of them it can just save you headaches for

Any dents any scratches when you go to take it back they can say oh look you’ve got these scratches here you’ve got these dents here you can say look they were there when I got it you can show them the date and the time that the

Photos and videos were taken and it just protects yourself there another common scam to avoid is Bill watch so quite often they can add things to your bills here it’s not always an intentional scam sometimes they can put the wrong person’s order on your table these are common everywhere so just check your

Bills at restaurants cafes any room service anything like that just check them because it does happen a bit more commonly here than I’ve experienced at least in Western countries so just check them and question any odd items or items you didn’t order when it comes to paying

Bills so this is another one is double check the money that you hand over before you do it and double check your change as a new Foreigner in a country not familiar with the local currency you can be targeted quite easy if you’re not double-checking things so just be

Careful double check the money you hand over and double check the change when you get it because you can get caught out if you’re not used to the currency as mentioned if you stick around to the end I do have my travel hacks guide you

Can access it for free there’s a link in the description below just go to the page put in your name email address and I’ll send you that travel hack guide so check that out get your hands on that [Applause] [Applause] Coming up from kosam mui we have some of the waterfalls the amazing beaches the cultural experiences here some of the night life as well as the monthly wrapup where I’ll be talking about all the expenses what it’s like here all of that to come if that all sounds good to you

Make sure you hit the like hit that subscribe button if you haven’t subscribed already if you have subscribed thank you it does mean a lot to us you’re the reason why I make these videos and I look forward to catching you in the next One
