Tourists meet locals at Malaysian wet market | Kuala Lumpur travel vlog (Pasar Chow Kit)
Malaysia or England England oh my God look at these Jack fruits they’re huge they’re huge they are massive aren’t they yeah I love when you get AA with uh nassie Kanda hi guys Peggy or good morning we are in KL today the City of Dreams as I’m calling it and we’re going
To head to Chow kit wet market right let’s go come on Bob Bob we’ve just ordered a grab to get there because grab takes 15 minutes and it was 40 minutes on the Metro it’s also only 11 ring between two beautiful nice and cheap pretty very cheap it’s the largest
Wet Market in Malaysia we’re going to see what we can find there I want to get some fruits which is not part of the wet Market I think that’s considered dry but anyway that’s what I want to get I want to have a look around we just want to
Have a little mooch don’t we we’ve not been to war in K before so no we hav it’s a new experience it is a new exper new experience and this is how the locals do their shopping whereas in the UK we’d go to like a grocery Store bye we’ve arrived here we are here we are short taxi Journey from where we were staying and we’re here very busy okay first impressions very vibrant I’ve seen a lot of fruits which is exciting cuz that’s what I wanted smells interesting it smells like fish oh I can see a cow’s head
Bobby hi good how are you England England very nice we like Malaysia okay we’ve got chicken here wow look at all this why is it yellow just got to be careful not to brush past any like meats or anything hi hi hello how are you I’m good ABA
Alam where you England England yeah use me oh sorry I’m really intrigued why some chickens are yellow these are live oh these are live fish here oh this one is here as well so the ones in the bucket below are alive they’re catfish suppose it keeps them fresh yeah
Keep fresh excuse me why are some chickens yellow and some white fire fire fire oh okay yeah thank you okay so the ones that are yellow have been fired and the other ones are obviously just just pure chicken chicken chicken chicken I am hello guys I am G I am guys I am
Guys oh here’s the Fire or the chicken oh my God okay there we go so that’s why these ones are yellow and those ones are white I still don’t fully understand the purpose of putting them on the Fire you know I’d actually seen a picture of this Market someone like
Flame grilling a chicken and I wondered what was going on but I’d love to know why now you know oh and I’ve just realized in the background you can see the Patronus Towers how about that do you get more K than that hello there we go go guys go go
Sorry that’s his cow he’s very proud of his cow wow very proud of the cow’s head yeah oh hey hello this is quite a foreign concept to me as a Westerner to have like a cow’s head out and about that’s definitely not something in the UK that would be like a
Selling point to your meat so you got lots and lots of fresh produce here we’ve just come down this aisle here and you’ve got all this fresh fish which is what you can smell these are quite small aren’t they yeah I wonder why you get the small ones they’re very interesting looking fish
Yeah got the Malaysia flags on the top here I find it quite interesting that people just like grab the meat with their bare hands sort of pick out the bits that they want at home you definitely wouldn’t just grab raw meat this is so different to anything
That we’ve seen in the UK this gent here just descaling some fish that’s really cool isn’t it I got fish juice on my foot it actually is really nice that the stuff is so fresh yeah as much as this is like kind of weird to me as a
Westerner it is good to have fresh food I do want that what’s this don’t know this looks like some sort of skin I think do you think it looks like skin it also looks like a mushroom I don’t know definitely skin what what is this where you
England can you tell me what this is this this this this stomach stomach stomach oh okay so it’s like the yeah yeah stomach okay okay so you found out this is stomach I think of a cow yeah you stomach stomach okay yeah thank you I’ve definitely not seen it like this before
Thank you so we do have that in the UK I think it’s called tripe I think that’s stomach but I’ve never seen it just hung up like that that’s so knowledgeable I didn’t know that yeah everybody so friendly here it’s why we love Malaysia oh wow eels oh my God
It’s an eel oh eels kind of gross me out I’m not going to lie look oh octopus look octopus wow mini octopus wow ooh that was interesting I’m still I’m really I’m like intrigued but gr up the is hello hello where you from from England from Indonesia I’m Indonesia
We’ve just come from Indonesia come from Lok yesterday yeah where in Indonesia are you from what island nice to meet you you know one thing I think a lot of westerners and foreigners would don’t really like the idea of all this like meat out and about
But the thing here is that people buy it this morning and then they cook it that day do you know what I mean like then it’s just in the street food you just cook it so it’s actually is really fresh probably much more fresh than we get at
Home from the supermarket it’s really not very hot in here either yeah it’s compared to outside like it’s all under under a roof you get a lot of air flow so right I got wet feet going down the wet Market would you believe now we’re out of that area we’re into more fruits
And veget vegetables there’s lots of herbs and stuff oh look got chili smells really good around here their eggplant I think I think that’s Thai eggplant I don’t know why I’ve started calling it eggplant it’s obene to me from the UK been in Southeast Asia too long
Chili’s I’m not here for the chilies I can’t hack it guys hello guys hello hello a aren’t people nice yeah it’s a lot less busy a lot less busy down this bit than it was the wet bit I think everyone’s getting their meat and fish yeah we were definitely in the way in
The wet bit oh what are these beans hi what are these we call it sticky beans sticky beans sticky beans wow okay we call P wow P or sticky beans yeah your pee will be stinging oh really when you eat it your pee will sting there you go like
Asparagus thank you very much thank you lots of very interesting fruits and vegetables here that we definitely don’t have in the UK and a lot of the time when you’re eating them in Southeast Asia as a foreigner you you see them in curries and things but you don’t really
Know what you’re eating but it smells a lot better than what it did in the wet bit yeah it does yeah look at all these spices we’ve got like cinnamon what’s this I don’t know cumin oh look stares I really like all the spices that you get
In Asia like it really makes the food so flavorful so lovely excuse me what do you call this this is the cat vegetable vegetable catr catr genuinely I’ve never I’ve just never seen that before seen there’s quite a few things that I’ve not seen also the vegetables here are a lot
Bigger than you get at home they are they obviously grow better I feel like this Market just goes on forever as well like I I genuinely can’t see the end of it all the way down there also we’re only going down one strip there like parallel strips like I don’t know how
Many maybe 10 of them it’s too big too big to walk down the door so big also guys I’m on a mission to find some snake fruit okay I’ve not come across it yet but I’m here for the snake fuit I really want some think if you’re going to find it
Anywhere here will be the place OA yeah I love when you get Oka with uh nasty Kanda M delicious how’s it Bindy I think it’s called B Bindy one of our personal favorit especially when in Malaysia wow there’s just there so much going on it’s very vibrant here like the
People the colors everything are we going to go down this way now should we continue let’s continue down this way obviously I’d pick the busiest ones it’s very busy around here so it’s the week after Chinese New Year so I don’t know if that has anything to do with quite how busy
Everywhere these what we had on the we had these growing upand hello I know thank you oh these are um Rose Apple Rose Apple yeah yeah yeah it says J yes jamb Jambo jamboo we yeah we had these in Vietnam I think and it was nice okay Thailand I

Get some it’s really nice to come here and experience some like proper Malaysian culture in compared to like the big city feeli and all the highrise buildings like this really feels like you’re getting involved with the local culture it’s really nice also I read online that this Market was going to be
Demolished and it hasn’t been but I think that would have been such a shame because this is one of the largest markets in KL like what like a real part of the community and the city it would have just been yeah would have been wrong to be demolished I can also see
Wellies buy yourself your protection equipment here and just like that guys we’ve completed it we’ve seen the lot this has been a really really nice experience me and Eve haven’t been to a market like this in KL before and a new experience in Malaysia for us we do love Malaysia
We’ve been here a lot of times and it’s nice to find something new that we’ve not tried before this is a really local kind of bustling Place yeah actually I don’t think I saw any other The Tourist but that just shows how local this Market is and it’s just a really great
Way to get involved and just see the daily life of people living in KL thank you for watching the video guys and if you did enjoy please like And subscribe bye
In this weeks video we visit Chow Kit Wet Market in Kuala Lumpur (KL). We have never been to a wet market in Malaysia before so this was an exciting new experience. We had so much fun chatting with local people, seeing new vegetables and trying lots of fruits. It was fun to compare this culture to how we do food shopping at home in the UK.
Make sure to follow along on Instagram: @Bevetravels
Thank you for watching and we hope you enjoy the video! π

You must try explore 'Pasar Borong Selayang'the big wet market in K. L
Hope you can stay on until the fasting month(another 10days),because it is really happening, especially in the evening.
The intention behind displaying the cow head is partly to prove that their stock are fresh beef, as compared to frozen beef. Some people also purchase the head for tongue/brain for cooking.
Guys if you buy from supermarkets it is not really "fresh"
The snakefruit youβre looking for is known as Salak locally, and February is a low season for it, you may still find it but a bit harder due to stock scarcity
Dragon fruit = diarrhea for me
Enjoy watching you guys! Great video(:
Nice video, good vibes and you guys didnβt seem to be sweating π

Awesome. I have not come across European spending a morning at the wet market. Visiting a local wet market will make you both knowledgeable persons
Who give that petai name stinky bean? If that petai can speak " I'M NOT BUT YOU'RE IF I DIE YOU STILL EAT ME BUT IF YOU DIE NOBODY WANTS YOU ECCEPT THE SOIL " please don't translate the name, just call it PETAI
8:26. The guy behind you almost did a stunt actπ
I think Snake skin fruit is seasonal fruit just like durian. Not the whole time you will find it. Oh, btw we call it 'buah Salak'
Yes, it is called tribe. But there's big intestine and small intestine.

Yes, stomach is tripe. And the largest jackfruits I've seen here in Malaysia are almost 2.5x larger than the ones you found @ the market.

Welcome to Malaysiaπ€π«°
Lovely contents as always β€
FYI those yellow coloured chickens were, for lack of a better description, "pensioned off chickens". They were retired (the guy said "fired" from their jobs of laying eggs. Once they couldn't produce eggs anymore, they were slaugtered and sold off as meat. They were coloured yellow, possibly with tumeric to indicate that fact. It is necessary to do that because their meat tend to be tougher since they lived a long life unlike other chickens that were specifically bred for meat. Some people preferred these type of chicken because they tend to be cheaper and second, their meat don't easily come apart due to extended cooking for dishes like rendang.
After eating red dragon fruit don't freak out if you see your pee turned red. It's not blood just the pigment of the dragon fruit that your kidneys failed to filter out.π
Happy to see you enjoy your day in the wet market.β€

From the head we get Brain, Tongue, Cheeks and other random bits…
Smoke the Eel and call it Unagi… as i the Japanese seafood and immediately x10 the price…
Just so you know (or don't already know), the more you eat fresh, the less likely you'll get cancer; the more you eat supermarket food, the shorter your life. You've obviously not often been to markets in the UK, where you do get all things fresh, except cow heads that's true. Shame that councils are closing markets (less chemicals) in favour of supermarkets (full of chemicals). Now you know why more people die young from cancer far too young!
The yellow chicken or a "pensioned" chicken aka ayam pencen was being torched or smoked.. it's suitable for rendang and curry because the flesh/texture is quite tough as it is an old chicken.. different from regular ones..
There are wet markets nearby in KL like Pasar Pudu and Pasar Keramat..
Pasar Chow Kit is known as Little Jakarta..most of the sellers there are Indonesians and Bangladeshi.. enjoy your shopping in our wet markets ππ²πΎ
Mangosteen fruits is good for health. You can search in the Google.
Dragon fruit nice to make juice drink.
are you to from England.. Welcome ..England yes β€β€β€
correct me if I am wrong, Malaysia have lots of country flag compared to other South East Asia countries or Asian countries?
At the risk of getting myself into trouble (from personal experience, mind you):
as a general rule, the friendly vendors (some a tad overfriendly) are Malaysians, and the nonchalant (or brusque) ones are foreign workers.

The dragon fruit is not indigenous to Malaysia. It is originally from South West USA and Northern Mexico. It is a cactus known as pitaya.
