Today I’m taking you on a tour of the most beautiful scenery on the railway line between Briançon and Marseille-St-Charles. This 189-mile (304 km) non-electrified line is single-track for almost the whole of its length. On the day of filming, the line was covered in 4 hours 32 minutes, serving 17 stations.

We’ll start at Briançon station and gradually make our way down the mountain, skirting the Serre-Ponçon lake and the Durance river, crossing sumptuous engineering structures, until we reach Marseille Saint-Charles station on the Mediterranean coast.

In this video, I offer you a condensed version of around twenty minutes showing some of the most beautiful landscapes encountered on this journey.

Don’t forget to comment on the video to tell me what you thought of it and to share your most memorable train journeys and anecdotes.
