IS AZAMARA STILL PREMIUM? 5 Things We Loved & 5 Things We Didn’t On Azamara Cruises
Welcome to the things that we loved and didn’t like so much about asamara cruises I’ll start off with the five things that I love and it was overwhelmingly more love than dislike but I’ll start with the obvious one and that’s food I’ve been on quite a few
Cruises and I think I’ve been on about six different lines raging from MSC to Seaborn so I think I have quite a good idea of what the food is like across different brands but Azamara was definitely up there Azamara is a premium Cruise Line and their food really
Matches that everything was really good quality you could tell the majority of stuff was made on board from their bread to the fruit tarts I always judge a cruise ship by their fruit tart and as Amara had a really good one oh also the lemon merang pie like that pastry was
Just it was thin all the food the meat the presentation the desserts everything was just utterly delicious on board and if food is something you really care about definitely consider Azamara I’ll also be doing some other food videos and dining guide so please subscribe to keep up with those videos the second thing
Was the speciality evenings this is something that puts asamara separate to other Cruise Lines the separate events that they throw for free our favorite night was the white night I’m also going to do a separate video on that because it’s worthy of it it was just a huge
Party a barbecue out on deck and it was just so much fun they also do as amazing evenings unfortunately my cruise didn’t have an as amazing evening which is super rare it was because it was meant to be in Israel and the wall broke out about 2 weeks before our cruise so they
Didn’t really have enough time to reorganize it at least to the level of a all as amazing evening but these speciality events are something that we really love about asamara and it just makes them a bit different our third love is the service the crew was so friendly and they literally remembered
Everything about us they knew our names what we liked they would kind of have things pre-prepared for us you know after dinner they would serve us our tea coffee whatever we really wanted they would kind of be prepped for it and so we would get it really quickly I would
Walk around the ship and people would know my name and I’d be like I don’t even I don’t even know you like I’ve never seen you before but the service was just so friendly and personable it has to be up there with some of the best that I’ve experienced on a cruise ship
Sh our fourth love was the entertainment on a small ship entertainment can often let you down and I have found this before in the past even on Big Ships sometimes the entertainment can let you down but on Azamara it was one of the best things about it and each person had
Something unique about them and it really just made it made for interesting shows and different talents going throughout they also had guest entertainment come on you know there was a comedian we had a local dance group and band come on I also have to shout out Alexa the sing a Pianist who would
Often go into the den and watch each evening because she was just so talented and she’d take any song like any request there and then she’d see if she had it and she’d just look up the music and play it it was amazing her Talent was
Just through the roof they also had a ton of activities going on during the day you weren’t going to get bored on the ship and also with each quiz dance class game whatever you did throughout the day you would gain stamps and at the end of the cruise you could swap the
Stamps in for free stuff like Azamara merchandise like t-shirts baseball caps socks all of the merchandise stuff and I thought that was really unique to azamar and and a bit of an incentive to go and do some of the entertainment the fifth thing that we loved but not exclusive to
This list is the small ship atmosphere the Azamara Pursuit held about 700 passengers in the cruise that we did especially um had a really low passenger rate on because it was meant to go to Israel and a lot of people moved their bookings because of the war so we only
Had about 380 passengers on board and we just had this really friendly atmosphere in the ship where everybody seems to know everybody and you’d kind of bump into people all the time and have a really nice chat and it kind of became like a little bit like a big cruise ship
Family it was really nice and the ship just felt really homely because of this it wasn’t like you were going to be wandering around for hours like you can on the bigger ship and you’d see people that you’d never see before it was just really nice to get to know everybody and
It just had a really friendly atmosphere on board now go into the dislikes disclaimer we absolutely loved Azamara so these dislikes are a little bit of us nitpicking but there were a few things the C on tell for Azamara is defin definitely a bit older me and my husband
Were on there for our honeymoon and we are in our mid-20s and we were definitely the youngest on board by about 20 years which was quite nice because it made it very special for us that people were like what are you doing here but it’s definitely something to
Know that it is for slightly older people however the hearts and souls of these people were so young I swear I’ve never seen so many people aged over like 70 acting like they’re 30 I can only hope that’s me in the future our second dislike which was an actual dislike this
Time is slow and embarcation our cruise you know had less than 400 people on it and we were waiting in Athens to board for 3 hours in the lounge they said that it was something to do like the local police system was um for passports meant they had to do everything manually
Something had gone wrong and so it was taking a lot longer however I’ve heard from quite a few people that they’ve had slow embarcation before on Azamara so something to keep in mind as well take a book a drink whatever with you for the day of embarcation the third dislike is
That they are older ships I was seriously L impressed that ship was almost as old as me and it didn’t particularly feel aged at all I think they’ve done a really good job of the ship I wouldn’t know that it was as old as me but there’s only so much you can
Refer to an old ship the rooms were generally smaller than you would find on the new modern ship the bathrooms were very small and the bathrooms also had a shower curtain which is a little bit icky but it was really clean and it didn’t bother us too much but it is
Something to keep in mind we also builted the guaranteed Ocean View cabin and we got an obstructed one and we really did not like it I’ve posted a video about it already which I’ll put in the corner and in the description but I really recommend not booking guaranteed
Ocean view rooms but generally for an older ship it was a really lovely ship but it was just something I’ve knit picking up alongside the smaller ship is that it does move around a bit more in the sea and that was something that really caught me out I didn’t expect to
Get seasick but there were about 2 days and one of them in a specialty restaurant as well which was a bit ruined by the fact that I was feeling seasick the sea wasn’t moving that much but with it being a small ship and we were in the middle of the Mediterranean
It definitely moved enough for me to feel it so just take some seasickness tablets with you our fifth and final dislike which was quite a major one for us was that the buffet was very small with a smaller ship you’re going to get a smaller selection which is it was
Absolutely fair but with us being in our 20s we like to eat a lot and the buffet is one of the main drawers for us whilst the patio grill food was amazing and the restaurant food was amazing and the food that was in the buffet was pretty good
It was definitely a very reduced selection there was kind of only one walk bit for you to get food from and a lot of the time it was the same stuff it was kind of those Staples that you wouldd go for like pasta meat rice but there was nothing wild Factor about the
Buffet at all and the pizza was pretty bad but then I can’t imagine that the CLE onel is that buzz about the pizza as I am if you have any loves or dislikes about Azamara please put them in the comment and any questions let me know

Was getting worried about sticking out as a young person on our cruise then remembered I'm 41 so I'll probably get away with it! Maybe we'll just be the youngest onboard by 4 years instead of 20….
Our embarkation out of Hong Kong was incredible. We showed our cruise ticket and walked straight on. Passport control was done on the ship in the bar. The customs officials left the ship on the pilot boat.
Azamara ships are old and all were built well over twenty years ago. Design has improved a lot in the last ten to fifteen years. So leave these old ones behind. The food was excellent though and the people you will meet on their cruises are nice. Hong Kong to Singapore is an itinerary you must try. You see so much.
The embarkation was most likely Athens police. We disembarked there and they held us up with checking passports for about an hour and a half! Our embarkation in Ravenna was super efficient and quick.
Very well balanced review. Having sailed with Azamara 3times previuosly and about to sail again this year on Journey. I can concur with all your views. Well done Beth 🙂
