I don’t know if anyone is here already or not maybe not I don’t see anything so I haven’t been touring for a week so it’s always done surprise ah it’s too windy today it’s too windy today was always surprised if I have people then or

Soon oh it’s so windy that even my bicycle is almost typical Dutch day over here so you’re looking out by the way at my uh at my flower bike with is a little uh hard they go like sign that we designed that I designed for uh for my company

And look what we have over here also we have this little teddy bear sitting here in front of my bike and uh as you can see he’s not completely used yet to the Dutch weather so it is cold still it is sunny but cold today but is

Uh so he’s he’s missing already Florida he like he prefers the temperature over there so let me show you that’s really frustrating I don’t see any so so but hopefully hopefully you can see me at least so because uh of course I turned off I turned off all the other apps and

Things so I can’t be disturbed but what I’m maybe going to try to do is log in and log out again to see if I can get the if I can get the chat back because I prefer to have a I prefer to have a chat

Of my flower bike flower season is starting I’m just uh as most of you know hi Mar it’s also welcome as most of you know I was in I was in Florida and in the Caribbean for uh over two weeks in total I still don’t have my voice

Completely back and that is uh that is a combination and I think mainly it is because I had a I had on my on the cruise ship yeah that’s my first cruise ever so uh I made a rookie mistake and that rookie mistake was that I thought

Like yeah it’s quite expensive to be on on a cruise so I don’t want to uh I don’t want to pay that that much so I had in had an internal room so I had my own cave sort of so there was no light outside there was no window no balcony

Nothing like that it was just if you turn on the light then there was light and then we’re turning off so you you never knew that the time of the day and I thought like okay I’m just I’m just I’ll just be there uh sleeping and then

It doesn’t really matter but the thing is you also watch fresh air and then the only option is an air conditioning and the thing is we Dutch people and I think that’s not only we Dutch people that is for big parts of Europe we’re not so

Used yet it is changing but we’re not so used yet to uh use air conditioning so we are more like okay it’s warm in the in the room we’re opening the window so the cool air is coming coming inside uh and in in summertime you’re doing that

Mainly in the evening when it’s cooling down a little and in in the rest of the day you’re just closing all your all your windows and your curtains and everything so but yeah I had two weeks in total of air conditioning so I can feel it I can feel it after already the

Second day on the cruise ship but I think it’s not the only one because all also they had one of the things that I love the most to do and maybe some of you have been doing that uh there was two two evenings there was a silent

Disco there was a silent disco where everyone was getting these uh headsets and then you’re hearing the music uh there’s no music music outside and there were three different DJs playing and and and one third of the group had one color you could also change the the change the

The channel and the color and then everyone was singing so I was of of course I was singing out loud uh so I think that combination singing out loud two evenings almost in to wrong uh in combination with the Airing so my voice is a little uh it’s a little lower than

Than normally so then at least you know so welcome Sarah also it’s good to have you over here and I’m by the way um I’m exciting to excited to be in back in Amsterdam it has been crazy busy to be honest for me so but I with this

Beautiful weather at least I can do I can do a tour again and with this beautiful light that that is unique in this time of the year it will be the the golden hour that we’re gonna where we’re going to do this tour and not only that

It’s also really the start of the spring but the start of the flower season and I know that a lot of you are really liking flower tours hi Sandy also welcome um I really look loving a flower tour so um so we have already several parts so what

I’m going to do for this tour I’m going to show you some parts of Amsterdam and part of it i’ have never shown you before so also some new things maybe some new stories although I didn’t have time to prepare so it’s more like okay

I’m now going to an area hi debie um I’m going to I’m going to an area that that has at least some some little flowers and some green but also some some parts that I haven’t shown on a virtual tour yet so um and let’s see what do we have more so um

And now de nobody could hear me because I had my headphones on that’s true that’s true but I can promise you it was not it was as false as you can think of so it was not it was not it was not yeah I think the people the people around of

Course there were people around also without headphones and they were like what the is happening over sorry for my g words but uh what is happening over here with all these people singing different things through each other and then some were dancing like this and other were dancing little different so

But was it was fun at least I think it’s almost time to start my tour so uh it is uh my think time now um so welcome everyone welcome everyone in Amsterdam my name is Stan uh today with a little less clear voice because of air

Conditioning and um the thing is um it is it’s a beautiful day a beautiful day of the still the very early spring um so but it is a beautiful day as you can see around me there’s not even a cloud and that is quite unique in

The Netherlands uh so I want to take you around we’re going to see some of the first flowers we’re going to see a little neighborhood that um that I haven’t shown before so that’s also that’s also quite cool and of course I’m just going to change the screen a little

So you can see how low the sun is already so look at my look at my sh Shadow I’m really so tall I’m now finally as tall as a normal duy uh because I’m quite under average but my shadow today is quite quite full um but

Not only that I also of course I’m not alone over here I’m together with my blue flower bike and of course my little friend is also over here so we see Oscar over here as you can see he is not completely used yet to uh the weather

The weather over here and there see still loves his uh and someone was saying already his Speedo is still under there yeah that is true you don’t know uh but Oscar really loves to wear Speedos okay let’s go let’s close let’s close this and then we’re going to cycle

A little because then I can also show you a little more today and let’s go are you ready to see a little part I’m now and by the way where am I where am I I am a little in the southern part of the city and this used to be one of the

More outskirts of the city and thank you lesie for uh reminding that everyone now we’re little at outskirts of the city almost at the border with the some of the neighboring towns so uh originally so as we see here in front of us that is

The um that is the um the 19th century area that was that was that was built over here and as the corner of the town of the end of the Town what did you have over there not only a this part but you have everywhere in several

Parts you had stations so and over here at the right side I’m just going to show you we have over here one of these old beautiful little stations and uh this is the station in the South uh Southwestern part of of of the city and nowadays it’s quite interesting nowadays it is the

Entrance to one one part is a is a cafe restaurant on the on the left side and here in the middle part this is now the entrance to the trim so there’s an organization in Amsterdam that is taking care of old trims and they have a lot of

Them inside and they have their organization over here and hi and it’s a cool building yeah it’s a cool quite cool uh almost to be honest if I’m looking at the style of this is almost not looking not looking very uh not looking very Dutch so this style is not

What you’re seeing a lot it’s uh it’s almost a little more British I think so and talking about uh talking about British things I want to show you also here the other side we’re going to the other side we see some more things and let’s go I’m just going oh lot of kids

Over here on the bike always have to be careful what we have over here a building and look at the two flags that we have here at the other side there is it is not windy enough now but you can maybe recognize there is a Dutch flag

And then next to that there’s a British flag so oh there’s the wind there’s the wind the wind is coming so you see the left the Dutch flag at the right the British flag and why is there a British flag over here that is because we’re standing in front of the British school

This is the international British school Amsterdam we have nowadays a lot and a lot and a lot of lot of experts and uh of course experts they like to have their kids going to the international school and the biggest one is over here and the interesting thing is that uh in

The last let’s say 10 to 15 years the number of exps in Amsterdam literally tripled or maybe even quadrupled so uh more and more parents were coming over here and they were saying okay we uh we want to have our kids going to um to of course a British school so they’re also

Teaching them of course Dutch but also most of the lessons are still in English and the only thing is the problem was that there were at that moment that there were not there are not so many big buildings in Amsterdam that can fit hundreds of kids so they were searching

And searching and searching for different locations and they had several locations where they were thinking of and then in the end they found this building over here and look at this look at look at the building if you look at the building can maybe um recognize a

Little what this place used to be before it was the biggest school so um we are again a little at the outskirts of the city so that’s important to know and not only that look if I’m zooming in look at the windows look at the

Windows um and yes there are a lot of British experts C in now look at the windows over there and you see there are a lot of bars for the windows lot of bars for the windows um and not only that Al the the the walls are quite thick so we’re standing here

In front of one of the old prisons of Amsterdam so this is one of the old prisons of Amsterdam that they started using now about I think seven eight years ago as the building for the British School of uh Amsterdam uh so an interesting thing is uh if you go inside

I cannot go inside now because they’re a lot of kids but they still have some of the cells so uh they’re always making of course fun about that that if the kids are not behaving then inside the school they can just place them in an isolation

Cell so if you’re having kids going to Amsterdam then there is a good chance that your kids will be on the uh International prison or the old prison International British school okay let’s and look over here in the middle by the way we’re now going look

How beautiful and green it already is we we don’t see a lot of uh um green trees yet so it’s literally just the first flowers and in the middle over here I cannot come there because there are cars but you can see purple white and yellow

And of course the first flowers be a little careful because it’s a very big roundabout over here where I do not have to write of way so U now but here in the middle there are uh white purple and of course white and purple that is all uh that’s all the

Crocuses and the yellow that’s the first defoil so it is still early but the first defo deals are already over here so be a little careful now you can also see by the way over here all the red lanes over here that these are the bike Lanes these are the bike Lanes of

Amsterdam we have a lot of them you can also see how many people are using that but I really like that here in the Middle look in between the in between the cars well the Sun is going down slowly it’s of course it’s also start of

Rush hour now so a lot of people are coming here from work picking their kids from school um and then uh and then going then going home but it is a it’s a beautiful part of Amsterdam and we’re calling this part by the way old South

So the southern part of Amsterdam is old the old southern part of Amsterdam and oh this guy needs to stop for me but he’s not doing okay bus needs to stop for me too okay thank you bus driver okay there we go but there’s more there’s more to see there’s a lot more

To see so and it is also it is so it is so beautiful today the weather is so beautiful that you can see already the first people sitting outside sitting outside having beers playing games and everything so um so The Terraces are are there but people are still sitting with their thick winter

Jackets because it is it is quite cold okay let’s see if I still if the this still if the H let’s see and Susan saying that gives a whole new meaning to getting a detention yeah that’s true that’s true I mean of course after the brexit by the way even more

Exess from from the UK mainly came over here uh but I’m now standing here and here at the right side is uh to be honest I think the most beautiful streets that you can find in Amsterdam not a canal is this it’s just a street

It’s called the lman St and uh I have to wait until everyone is on the bicycle so uh it’s passing me but you can maybe imagine if I’m looking I’m showing you this why this is such a beautiful Street look at this look at the trees here in

The middle and the on both sides these typical 19th century buildings and uh the trees over here are forming a sort of uh yeah sort of a Tumo where we going through and all of them are tilting a little to the right a little to the left really amazing so this is Lovely

Isn’t it and also later on I will also look back a little so and yeah the interesting thing is that these plants are planted over here already about 80 years ago and this street is is a little narrow and the trees are to be honest too big for the

Street so and what happens when they planted when they planted the the trees over here is uh that these trees because they’re so huge they start to grow to the light and the light is in the middle of the street so all the trees that are

Planted on the right side except the one here on the right but all on the right side are growing to the left and all the ones at the left side are growing to the right so very interesting interesting how this went and and then talking about British buildings look at

This and I don’t know the type of the tree sorry I didn’t interpret myself but it can be a trees yeah can be but you can maybe imagine that every time of the year this is extremely extremely beautiful so sometimes people are complaining about all the things that

Are falling out of the trees but now this is this is highly protected as you can as you can maybe imagine so I’m just going here to the end and then let’s see as always trick if you can see the in the meantime look Oscar is sitting over there he’s just looking outside

Um yeah and this is Old South the very famous neighborhood in Amsterdam very calm neighborhood so a lot of people are coming over here to grow their kids to have their kids over here and look at this look at this I’m just going to I’m

Going a little back not the not the full street but at least to give you the feeling of how it looks when the sun is coming through wow and no they will not collapse they will not collapse it’s just that they as plants and trees are doing they’re just

Growing uh to the light and yeah again because they were they were a little too big for this street uh that’s why that’s why this this happen so in other streets you can sometimes see it a little but not as much as over here in the lman Strat so

And Debbie is asking are these single family houses or multi-units now that’s a that’s a good question and that to be honest that depends a little that depends a little but in general if you look at houses uh like this in general it is that most people only have one

Level and sometimes two so and one level is about and this area is a little bigger so here it’s maybe about 600 square feet 60 square meters um per level so if you have two levels you have 120 um but most people just have one and

If you want to live here by the way to give you an idea you’re paying in this street about for a 60 square meters you’re paying about €800,000 so that’s $850,000 for just an apartment unbelievable isn’t it unbelievable so quite it’s quite expensive to uh to live in Amsterdam

That’s also why I’m always asking for tips so I can at least no so I’m just also by the way this neighborhood over here is really really really good one I want to show you some more and you can maybe imagine why so many people love to live here so there’s

A lot of green on the streets um this is this is the second second side street so it is quite green it’s now of course still quite early uh but it is is really a beautiful and calm and relaxed neighborhood but also very expensive neighborhood to live and you’re living

Very nearby the W Park the H Park is just at the back over here so and suan sorry I didn’t see I didn’t uh go to the roots to show you the roots so and then over here this is a little bigger Road and interestingly enough you can see the sign the signs

Since uh since about two months now almost the whole city of Amsterdam the maximum speed is only 30 kilm an hour so 30 km I think that’s in Miles about 20 miles so it used to be 50 so 50 is about 30 miles but it went back from 50 to 30

From 30 to 20 so it’s now a lot uh a lot less and people are not completely used to it yet but they’re saying that in the and it is a lot uh it is a lot safer and look by the way how beautiful it is with the the lights on the train

Tracks it’s really so shiny so I almost want to cycle in the middle of the road but no and these were not these were not canals no no no not everywhere in Amsterdam it was canals so this this is really the uh I said it already before

In the 19th century there were a lot of uh there were a lot of people that wanted to come to work in Amsterdam work and live of course um so they were building uh All Around The Old City Center new neighborhoods so this is one of them on the on the southern southern

Part and to be honest that is one of the neighborhoods with the highest quality so um they first were building the west and the East and the west and the East were mainly done by private contractors and these private contractors in the 19th century of of course they didn’t

Want they didn’t want to spend so much money so they were mainly building low quality housing and then the government saw that happening and then they decided no the southern part we’re going to do ourselves so they were asking some of the most famous city Architects from

That time and they started um they started building this this area and you can see now it is really getting busy so I’m just going a little on the side so just to give you a show you you this is the Amsterdam traffic around rush hour

So then it’s going it’s really like a a pelaton of of people going Ro all you see gargo bikes with kids with people with bu and everything so just going at the back because I’m going a little slower but I can just oo I can just be at the

Back my normal my normal Pace this at the amst traffic on a normal day okay it’s very busy said yeah it’s rush hour now it’s rush hour so it’s just that the light is now as it most beautiful and I also want to show you a little different part of the city okay

And I want to show you let’s see we’re going here to the left because there are some other interesting things that I want to see want to show you go and look again how golden are we talking about the golden hour now look at this look how golden the light is

Right now we have to wait till all the cars are G because I want to show you some stre art I was lost uh of course about a little more than a week ago I was in Miami and I’ve seen some of the most beautiful street art that you can

Think of but to be honest there is also over here on the side and you now cannot see it very well so I’m just going to the other side I’m handling my bicycle in the same time you can see it’s already here a little in the

Uh in the reflection because we have a really huge beautiful piece of art here at at the other side on street art and I think you can now recognize what this is the famous Dutch painter uh that is uh that was born in the same that was born in the same city

As where I was born a little earlier only I’m talking about johanes Premier and he painted one of I think his most famous painting is over here repainted on the wall so this is of course The Girl With a Pearl Earring uh beautiful the side and the interesting thing is

This is uh is painted over here last year so it’s still quite new and fresh you can see how still colorful this all is this beats Windwood okay now B I don’t I don’t know if that is uh but it has high quality for sure for sure but

The interesting thing is that um there is in Amsterdam an organization that is taken care of uh they want to make sure that all the buildings will stay in the same St and everything and they didn’t like that this artist was placing this beautiful piece of art over here so uh

They even got uh uh got the the owners of the buildings over here to the court because they wanted it to be removed because it it would not fit in this neighborhood in this 19th century neighborhood but in the end in the end uh they they made they made the sort of

They made a sort of a deal so it’s not only temporary it’s only temporary on this on this wall but I think it is it is beautiful and thank you Katherine for sharing my link so okay that was one thing that I wanted to show you so just here so you

Can see also in all kind of other neighborhoods in Amsterdam there’s so many beautiful things to see so look together with the lamp post here on the side so just giving you a little other view oh sorry okay that was a Premiere so okay I have to go

Later again to the other side of the street but I also want to show you I was telling before about all the exps that you can find over here and to be honest Amsterdam has already been no I’m going to the other side that’s better have more space Amsterdam has already been a

Um a city of uh immigration for since the start of the city so we had several waves of people coming coming over here literally from all over the world so it’s not something only from the last 10 to 15 years maybe now a little more maybe a little more British so and the

British were for a long for a long time our biggest enemies um okay I have to wait again for the traffic it is really rush hour so and yeah okay thanks okay it will be calmer soon because I will go to the into the park

But what I want to show you over here at the other side look at this look at this so in Amsterdam and I’m looking at the beautiful building there the wooden building here in the middle a completely different style from what you would expect in Amsterdam so I’m just

Wondering is someone recognizing this sty because this is this is a church an original church so it’s place here just I’m just going to show you a little uh also the building at the left is also uh is Al is also for it’s connected connected to each other but over here we

Have a Russian Church the Russian church is here at the other side so also the city of Anam is full of these kind of buildings if you know where to look such a beautiful fromation inside by the way but just maybe for another time so okay um what I’m going to

Do over here at the right side we have these huge houses uh and here in the middle we have one of the most famous Parks now maybe the most famous Park that we have in Amsterdam called the vbo park and not only is a famous Park is

Also one of the main bike lanes that you can find in the city because you can easily go from here from the more western part of the city all into the city center so we’re now cycling inside the famous Window Park a 19th Century Park that is built that is built over

Here that is by the way also one of the lowest parts of the city some parts are six feet under sea level even and uh I think a a quite a quite beautiful Park and when we’re going through here I of course will tell you and show you some

Things and first I’m just going to find some places in the um that are in the in the sun maybe so because otherwise I’m really getting cold myself yes mam and the UK are around the corner that’s true of course you’re all welcome to come here maybe not all at the same

Time it’s maybe a little too much uh okay now I can also stay over here that’s going too far so what we see here at the other side is uh huge houses really huge houses so for that we have to go back again to the 19th century in

The 19th century when all these people were coming to Amsterdam it was not only um it was not only poor people that wanted to come to work over here but also more and more uh more more wealthier people were coming to Amsterdam them they wanted to live over

Here some of them were living in the canal district and were thinking like yeah the 17th century houses are not very modern anymore it’s little old so uh we want to build new houses and they were building a new neighborhood over here that’s called Amsterdam South

So we were already a little in Amsterdam South before and as you can see it is really really really uh big houses really big houses Villas Etc so the rich people if I’m it’s still nowadays the most part of the city that we’re now looking at so but at the same time they

Were building this in the South and at the other side and it’s a little hard to hard to see I’m not oh sorry it’s going a little too fast um but I can go to the other side and you see Park and at the other side you can also see there’s some

Buildings they’re just some normal buildings from Amsterdam West so while in the southern part they were starting to built a new rich neighborhood for uh for all these wealthy people in the western part were building another neighborhood with lower quality houses that was more for the middle class so

And uh the rich people that were living here at the right side were seeing this happening and they were thinking like yeah okay we have PID ground over here to build our beautiful huge houses and at the same time at the other side at the other side more and more uh of the

Of the neighborhoods are coming more and more nearby and we don’t like that so much because uh if this is going on soon we will live next to all these poor people so they didn’t want they didn’t want that so what some of them did it’s very smart they said like okay what

We’re going to do what we’re going to do is uh we’re going to buy up the piece of land in the middle and that is where we are right now so it was bought up by a sort of an now let’s say a 19 century crowdfunding campaign uh by the rich

People in the from the neighborhood here at the right and they bought this piece of land and they thought like okay now we have this piece of land what are we going to do with this so what they did is they made it a private park a private

Park with these entrances like the one over here so beautiful entrances uh so you could come over here what’s the only way to get inside the park then you had to pay uh you had to pay to come inside or you had to be part of the part of the

Community so and of course people at the other side middle class they didn’t want to pay to get inside inside a park so it became their private park most people on the right side and what they were doing over here uh of course walking around

They uh asked one of the most famous uh City designers sorry Park designers from that moment the brothers Zer uh to design this in the English landscape style famous English landscape style uh and then yeah what they what they were doing there they were walking around uh but

Not only that also um then in the 1920s 1930s something else became more and more popular and what was that is what we what I’m now still doing nowadays uh what we’re all still doing nowadays the first bicycles came in the Netherlands so it was a little later in England they

Were already cycling around on these uh on these Penny farting bikes but in the nland they never became very popular so but then when there were the new designs around 19 10 of the more bicycles that are looking like the ones we still have nowadays and then the rich people in

Amsterdam were thinking like oh that is cool we want to try that out but yeah how to cycle they needed a place to train and then they uh they decided to start training that over here so hunda park became the area in Amsterdam where you could where you could do some first

Bicycle training and it’s also very interesting because as some of you know I have a I have a bike tour company in Amsterdam and a lot of our tours now all of our tours nowadays are still starting in the fal Park to do some bicycle

Training because it is uh it is the best way it is the best way to uh if you’re not so used to cycling to come over here okay so they designed this park they used it but what happened is and what you have to know is that this park

The V Park where we have this beautiful tree hanging over uh this is one is really tilted so not the one in the street before now but what you have to know is that Amsterdam and not only this park but the whole of amster is is built

On a swamp it’s built on a swamp so and where with all the houses that we see around they’re built on wooden poles but yeah they were not doing that of course for for a park so they were starting to grow all kind of plants and trees and

Everything but the ground over here is is still very unstable very swampy like so you can maybe imagine if you’re thinking about the swamp then you normally don’t have all these high trees so because High trees are too heavy to grow in a swamp so and that is something

What you can still see nowadays if you’re looking at a lot of the trees in the buo park then you can see that they’re hanging to the right to the left uh and that’s that the the the bigger they’re getting the heavier they’re getting the more they’re tilting to one or the

Other side so well you would expect that everything is straight not over here in the not over here in the F Park so I’m just going to see if I can go to the other side you see how busy it is like there we go wow and sus you’re you’re right you’re

Right it was of course also uh new technology and women could uh make sure that it could come a little further than before and look by the way how beautiful it is over here and people are really enjoying really enjoying the first uh doing some dances some kiss over

Here yeah so people were were enjoying their time but the thing is the thing is this it was all built on Swamp and we can see that in this little with the trees over here they almost all hanging to the right or the left uh so after a

While it became too expensive for that group of people uh to take care to take care of of this whole park so they were starting to complain several didn’t want to pay anymore because every four or five years they had to uh they had to remove a trees again because they were

Falling so then what happened not so long after World War II they decided to give the vundle park to the city of Amsterdam for at that moment one Gilder for one guilder only they gave it they gave it to the uh to the city of Amsterdam and since that time it is a

Public park so the city took over and then it became and look what we have over here a lot of cuses look from the first a lot of people be walking here so that’s a little that’s a little sad but also dogs I think but yeah it became that place in

Amsterdam where everyone is going to so Park so more and more people were coming over here also because in Amsterdam most of the houses are not very big and the majority of people uh that is doesn’t have a garden so maybe you have a small

Balcony but not more than that so if the weather is good like today even if it’s still cold everyone is coming out to come into the fundo park and yeah and the park became very famous mainly in the 60s and the 70s and then for something else and uh maybe some of you

Have been here in the 60s or 70s because at that moment Amsterdam was the most liberal city in the world it was the city the first city on Earth where it was allowed to smoke wheed to smoke marijuana and a lot of people not only Dutch people but a lot of people from

All over the world were coming over here to Amsterdam and uh yeah where were they smoking they were mainly smoking over here in the fle park so if you came here in the 60s and I mean my dad is is from the time he’s also always saying like

Okay going to Amsterdam and then there were hundreds some thousands of people some of them were literally camping over here in the vundo park nowadays nowadays that’s not allowed anymore but they were camping over here just to have a good life to smoke to sleep to play music to

Eat to drink to have sex everything happens over here in the H par so yeah became became a became a famous place since the 80s by the way they decided like okay we don’t want this anymore so you can come here and still if you want you can you can you can

Smoke a joint but they decided to close the park in the night time so people are not allowed to come here anymore for a certain period so here over here by the way we have a small theater small theater that is uh mainly in the spring and Su is used for all

Kind of open air concerts and then one of my favorite places if you come to the H Park is this place over here you can see it’s packed with people it’s packed with people and this is called Blow te house the blue Tea Gardens sorry the blue Tea House not

Garden Tea House it’s all outside in a really beautiful really beautiful design and you can also see over here that everyone who is coming here is coming on the bicycle typical Dutch way you’re coming by bike and uh nowadays by the way it is in the hands of one of the

Micro Brewers of Amsterdam uh so it’s more that people are coming over here to have a beer at the end of the day and then at the other side now you all still over here is so beautiful look at the other side you’re in the water sometimes of

Course we we’re we we’re seeing the open air theater but sometimes in summertime when it is good weather you can see that there some music is played over here in this little music place in the one in the middle of the water so also very nice and it’s I like it to

Look around over here and to see that almost if you look at the trees you don’t see a lot of uh green yet so but of course the flowers and the first flowers are already here so you can really see very well how early it still

Is in the spring Only The Willows are getting green a little so just going around a little just going to show you a little the feeling of the the feeling of the F Park oh great please okay yeah it’s not a tea house anymore and look here on the side you see the

Because of all his uh all what he was writing in all his poetry so uh he’s a little like the let’s say the Shakespeare of the Dutch language so Mr yondo standing here in the park Park and uh originally the park was just called the park and then later on it was named

Hous I’m just going to park my bike a little on the side so we can see it so we can see it a little better so they ask some Architects uh to have a rle of houses and to build them in different styles so

Have over here a statue of a woman and that’s interesting thing is because in the city of Amsterdam we don’t have a lot of statues of women and that’s that’s way quite sad but that there are literally from all the statues less than 5% less than 5% and you see the street

Name the rumor F out less than 5% of our statutes is from women and I’m feeling even a little Ash ashamed for that because it is not that only 5% of women that were important in our Liv so everyone as their mom uh a lot of people

Have sisters have grandmas Etc so and so I was thinking today it is today uh women’s day it’s World women’s day and I also know that a lot of you looking at my tours are are female so I want to celebrate the or end this this tour today a little but celebrating celebr

Rating all the women of the world and I’m doing that next to this beautiful statue and this is a statue of um of Aleta yobs and ala yobs she is quite famous in in the Netherland there lot of streets named named after her for example but most people don’t even know

Why are these streets named after her and why is there a statue by the way over here because she lived over here in this house so we’re standing next to the house where she’s living and uh when we look at the Statue over here I don’t

Know if you can read it but it’s saying like in this house lived uh Dr Aletta yobs Dr Aletta yobs and um that is quite unique because in at the end of the 19th century she was the first doctor that studied was the first she sorry she was

The first women that studied at the University so before that time women were not studying at the University had to stay home they had to do other things but she was a very powerful a very powerful strong woman and she in the end made sure with some help from from her

Family um to get at the University she became the first doctor and what she did is what she started because that was not that was not the end uh because she started uh a clinic for women she started a clinic for women here in Amsterdam and uh where she was for

Example helping with with with very um yeah the first ways of bird control for example so and not only not only that she was also one of the first people that went into a movement of women to fight for uh to fight for female rights

So ala yobs I really think she’s a very important person for uh Dutch Society nowadays because without her we would have been maybe still in a situation that men were ruling the world over here or men were ruling the Netherlands over here so thanks to her and that’s why I

Wanted to end this tour over here next to next to Aletta um who just came over here from a from an average household average household in Amsterdam and thanks to her nowadays and that’s the interesting thing nowadays uh it is uh about 150 years after she uh she went to University and

Nowadays in the Netherlands there are more women studying than men so that is the interesting thing so I was seeing it today again in the news that from the populational universities about 52 to 53 almost 53% is now female so they’re more smart women nowadays than smart men so finally finally

So wait oh wait just trying to get this uh this big this big cat no no and I know I know Susan we should we should we should we should we can better say let’s let’s make sure that today is if interational women’s day for the rest

Of the year or maybe just make one day for men because we had already enough in history so it is time uh it is time to uh to to change that a little sorry the cats didn’t want to cooperate because there were several people coming after

The grey skies of winter are finally leaving the city, and the colours of spring are starting to appear around the city.

On this tour I will take you around part of the city, showing you some of the flowers that are appearing around Amsterdam. As we ride through the city on my beautiful blue Delft bike, I will tell you a little about the area and some stories of related to what we are seeing.
