Germany 2023 Part 2: Freiburg Tour #Germany #freiburg #blackforest
All right we just arrived at uh fryberg helped bhog and uh got to say it looks a little different than I expected it to look uh we got some hills in the distance we got to kind of figure out our orientation um to get to the house we’re staying at
All right we are been in fryberg about two hours and we’ve uh gone grocery shopping and uh figured out the best way to get to our place which is down there about 5 minutes and now we’re heading into what we hope will be the heart of
The ouch dot uh supposedly down here to the left is a uh is the Rous plots we’re also looking for dinner but definitely in a bit of a pedestrian area here so so we just turned the corner and definitely can see we’re finding older and older
Stuff I have to admit I was a little surprised I had a vision in my head what fryberg might look like like and um this is it’s much more modernized it’s much more built up it’s not actually not much bigger than uh dman horse in terms of population but it is much more
Builtup so there’s a sign that says R house this way this must be the new R house so we’re going to go into the square to see the old town hall or actually probably the facade okay I’m starting to find the buildings that I would recognize I think
Better way to get this in is this way uh actually feeling a couple of raindrops it was supposed to be very sunny but we got down here in the clouds have been coming in over the mountains so I have to go around but you can smell the rain you you can’t but we
Can smell the rain and you can hear the thunder so yeah now we’re in the historical part of the city yeah are you going to try to get a picture of that angle down there Joyce to your left some very cool looking buildings down there and sadly for some of these
Beautiful old towns there’s just no easy way to photograph them you have to have a super wide angle lens or they got the uh glies here to uh let the water from the hills coming down flow out I’m going to tip this camera again there we go this is the Old Town
Hall the old section of the Town Hall yeah house zoom in 1460 Bing sexy I’m going to tip this camera again just so I just no way to get this building All In all right Joyce and I just stopped off at the post office to send some
Stuff and and uh we’re on our way to the train shop here in fryborg and uh we just came to this which is called oopa plots which is a tram station and some other buildings New Yorker shop which you see all over Germany car STS and uh we saw
This you get some tram real faning as well but a uh world 4 1 Memorial which I’m going to kind of zoom in on very very cool but we are going to try to do a little bit T more touristy stuff here in Friberg today before we go don’t know
What this official building is Kaiser y J stasa and bird Joseph’s Stree a little bit more of the statue while we’re waiting to cross the street it’s celebrating the 14th Army that was based here in Friberg during World War I but very not that we’re although World
War I has always been one of my favorite Wars to Study well Joyce and I are just wandering around fr right now we just left a very cool train station I took a couple of pictures of it or Train Shop not train station um so now we’re just heading into fryberg but we stopped off at a model
Train Shop awesome Train Shop very cool that really specializes in three rail they had some two rail but they really were mostly meran it was a meran shop with some Ro things and I bought a locomotive and uh I’ll try to remember to insert a picture in
Here but they’re going to mail it home for me okay so hang on Jo here’s the cathedral I that was track number par what’s that yeah if I had to go the portrait mode here yeah that just goes on and on down that way probably an old Guild house that is now converted to something all right so look back down that way that’s cool shatz a Hof
And some cool buildings that way and you can go back up that way it looks like there’s a there you go you realize we’re the only people ever taking pictures or filming anymore yep here we go what oh yeah I see what you mean could
Be well we can walk over there and see what’s beyond it all right do you want to go out Through there’s some stuff that way but it just I mean it’s just part of that what the map says is the Historical Area Gas House in sttion and the schaben tour this is the shabin tour and there’s your Cathedral this about as far back as I
Can get this is the other side of the shabour try to go back just a little bit and see if I can get all in in one shot yeah I can get it all in one shot but now I got a tree branch in the way oh
Well I can get it all in in the camera but I got a big tree branch in the way all right as usual Joyce gets it right come across the street and now we can get the whole thing in in one shot until the bus comes
Through but I got it one way or the other we got it yeah we’re just got have traffic no matter what but there we go all right cool this this is just all kind of the shopping area and still part of the out I don’t think get Really yeah yeah but remember uh it’s more there are Hills of course but it’s more of a forest and Hill Foothills chain there’s a several famous battles around this area from the Napoleonic War and the 30 Years War various battles of FR bir I don’t really have a desire to go check
The battlefield sites out cuz they’re really well you know if you remember there’s that um um there’s a lake that’s way up that way yet you know that you can go swimming at so that was kind of one of the things to now I did leave the day before we leave as free
Of the see the difference between me and Joyce is Joyce has to stop to take pictures I just film while I walk spe spee yeah okay no no this is the mountains tour this is the next gate we were going to and you keep going that way and that
Way and you come to that Lake cuz this is sort of this area is the beginning of like the new city and and all that but we are at the impossible to film from this direction mountains tour okay well let’s go I’m going to go to that Corner we’re going to tip this
That way there we go there’s the M tour come around about a kilometer maybe half to 500 M to 1,000 M from the other gate we were just at zun five zun and we’ll try to get a better view of this Tower almost oh not
Quite right here oh not okay there we go yep all right so here’s the other view of the the uh M’s T oh look at that that house has been uh since 1350 here there’s been a house there since 1350 that’s impressive dude that was tight there are trams everywhere Chris
Crossing and it’s amazing how often frequently they run uh close to each other too well timed well organized scary doesn’t well I might have to go to Google for that one all right we’ve been in Rous plots but we have not come up on this view yet
Of course right now there’s all this Construction but we have to go to the r house and talk to the tur Bureau people about some things so here we go and see we came up that way and then we went around but we didn’t come over here there’s the other Nord day yep
Yeah so we were here we just did not come this way to yeah all right we are at the Fri Burger monster a big church in town big tower I don’t know if I’ll go up it or not we’ll see if Joyce tries to convince me of it
But we just had some ice cream and I guess I will call this enough video of it Dam that’s tall that is way up there and the market is going on here just closing up which is a shame it might have been cool to go through the
Market closer you get the taller it gets and yes I know that’s obvious but still all right so sadly we just missed the market it’s still up but we do like to go through the market hang on Joyce the truck is taking off Oh the pigeons did a number on that statue there’s a cool little Fountain and we know how I like my fountains spe h I’m just not going to get it all in one shot no matter what I do all right we’re behind and again the buildings are so tight here there’s just
No way to get a great view of this filmed a little bit of it earlier but really just liked the look in the Gothic architecture all the detail and you got to remember these were built in the 12 13 to 1400s and they didn’t have modern safety and everything else and obviously many
Men died building these but the detail and everything nothing could be simple which then the Roco movement in the Baro period took to an even higher level where this is very angular and rigid to a degree the Roco everything was soft and round and flowing this is very
R all right so we’ve come around and circled but reminds me a lot of the uh oh the ver house in golar for and we’re going to go inside in a bit see how it looks inside the F monster monster actually means a single Tower Church like that one the biggest one
Being in um Germany which I’ve seen win all right we are inside the Fri Burger ones actually we’re just inside the entrance and again amazing artwork just amazing artwork I try to get the ceiling in too but believe it or not it actually makes one a bit dizzy trying to hold the
Camera and look up and these wires is here to keep the pigeons out of everything for spe h for for for Recreation of the Last Supper where Jesus and not someone will betray you our directions were right mean our sense of direction was bot on it’s just a
Couple of more block than I guess we expected maybe because the days longer and we’re a bit more tired now but uh we came here for the opera house and the theater um just to get some pictures of it very cool very cool very cool very cool okay onwards to the train station
Again okay we are at the Little River or Canal that runs through fryberg here this is the shabin tour bua the bridge to the shabin tour if anybody’s into uh trams here we go oh we ended our evening with a nice little walk now I want to cross the
Street and catch it from that side it is getting on evening here all right do you want to go down now okay can you get down from the side you can’t get down from the side you have to get down over there no that actually roll keeps rolling that way I saw
Somebody no you get down the stairs right there oh you want to walk that far what’s that so I mean this is all clearly man-made but it makes nice little pools and you know me I’m tempted to do it but you’re in your capri you could never get this close to a
Crane a heron or a stor uh in Toledo or on the momy those guy’s only about 10 foot away he’s waiting for us to set throw something then apparently a party place down here come on well I don’t want to be mean to him I don’t think he’s going to fly
We spent the week of June 5th-June 12th in the city of Freiburg im Breisgau, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. While there, we went off on many trips, but our first couple of days, we stayed in town and checked out the city. It was much bigger than Anthony thought, but very pretty!
